Chapter 10 – You Useless Fools, You Couldn't Even Protect My Wife!

2:00 p.m.

BOOOOOOM!!!

A deafening explosion shook the heavens—shockwaves split the clouds and nearly tore Onigashima in half.

This "training duel" had lasted a full two hours.

Even Akira himself hadn't expected that he could last this long against Kaido's unrestrained might.

But for a man, the longer he could "endure," the better.

The once-grand island beneath them no longer resembled the festive paradise it had been that morning.

Everywhere the eye looked, there was nothing but ruin.

The banquet tables and the laughter that once filled the halls were gone—burned to ash under the storm of their battle.

The entire surface of the island was pockmarked with massive craters, the ground split open with thunder-shaped cracks.

Above, Kaido had shifted into his Hybrid Dragon Form—his strongest state.

His whole body was covered in greenish-blue scales, his expression wild and blazing with excitement.

Standing over seven meters tall, the sheer pressure from his body alone felt heavier than even his full dragon form.

Facing him, Akira remained in his Divine Manifestation, his colossal aura undiminished.

Ding!

Ding!

Ding!

The chime of the Armor of Will had rung hundreds of times over the past two hours!

Each note marked another permanent surge in his physical power.

Under Kaido's relentless, world-shaking blows, Akira's body didn't crumble—

it grew even stronger.

In fact, the Divine Manifestation towering at eight meters had grown again from the compounding enhancements of the Armor of Will.

Now it stood nine meters tall.

"Worororororo!!"

Seeing the nine-meter giant looming before him, Kaido's fighting spirit flared to its absolute peak!

"This brat's stamina—does it never run out?!"

The longer he fought, the more shocked—and delighted—he became.

King, Queen, and Jack were all durable, sure, but that was only thanks to the passive endurance of their Zoan fruits. They could take hits, but not return them like this.

Akira was different.

He fought back head-on.

He grew stronger as he battled.

Each swing of his naginata was faster, heavier—his strikes sharper, more refined.

Kaido was completely intoxicated by the thrill of it!

"The warm-up's over, my magnificent son-in-law!!"

He raised his massive spiked club—Hassaikai—high into the air.

Black and red lightning from his Conqueror's Haki surged around it violently.

This was no longer "training."

It was recognition.

"Take this!"

"The final lesson I can teach you!!"

"Conqueror of Three Worlds: Ragnaraku!!!"

The overwhelming pressure of Kaido's strike locked entirely onto Akira!

The nine-meter-tall giant trembled violently—he could feel death looming over him.

He knew he couldn't block this one.

But he couldn't dodge either.

To dodge would mean disrespect—

to make Kaido look down on him as a coward.

"Open up completely!!!"

Akira poured every last ounce of his remaining Haki and strength into both arms!

He raised Murakumogiri, channeling everything he had into a single, perfect strike!

"Dragonbreaker Slash!!"

BOOOOOOOOM!!!

The naginata and the spiked club collided!

Time froze.

Then—

An earth-shattering explosion of raw power erupted from the point of impact!

CRACK!!!

Both of Akira's massive arms split open at once—bones shattered from shoulder to joint!

Murakumogiri flew from his grip—

and Kaido's remaining force didn't stop there.

The Hassaikai slammed straight into his chest!

THUD—!!!

The towering Divine Manifestation instantly deflated—

like a burst balloon collapsing into his normal two-meter-tall form!

His body was hurled through the air like a meteor, tearing through the broken remains of Onigashima's surface!

BOOM!! BOOM!! BOOM!!!

He crashed through the island's foundations—

and finally disappeared deep into the earth below!

— — —

The world suddenly fell silent.

"Wororororo! That's enough!"

"What an incredible fight!"

From above, Kaido laughed heartily as he descended, landing heavily on the fractured ground.

He drove Hassaikai deep into the earth, the impact echoing like thunder. A long breath escaped his mouth—thick, burning steam rising like that of a true dragon.

He was deeply satisfied.

That last strike had been unrestrained—

his full power unleashed.

A blow strong enough to kill Jack the Drought outright.

For Kaido, the fact that Akira could force him to use such strength to "finish the fight" was nothing short of impressive.

Even in defeat, Akira had earned his respect.

Still, a small part of Kaido wondered—had he gone too far?

But with a quick sweep of his Observation Haki, he sensed the faint yet steady life force below. Akira was battered, but alive.

That realization made Kaido grin with satisfaction.

Having a son-in-law strong enough to survive a full-powered strike meant he finally had someone he could fight seriously—

without worrying about killing his opponent.

A few moments later, Kaido's gaze fell upon a massive blade buried in the rubble not far away—Murakumogiri.

He approached it slowly and gripped the weapon with one hand, pulling it free from the ground.

"Hm?"

His brow furrowed.

He had expected that last blow to shatter the weapon completely.

He was already planning that once the naginata broke, he would "gift" Akira a new spiked club—

one matching his own Hassaikai.

But when he examined it closely…

The pristine white naginata, even after taking a direct hit from Ragnaraku, showed not a single scratch.

"What kind of durability is this…?!"

Kaido was stunned.

Hassaikai wasn't an ordinary weapon. Combined with his Conqueror's Haki, there was nothing in this world that could withstand it.

If spiked clubs had a ranking system,

Hassaikai would easily qualify as a Supreme Grade Weapon.

And yet this naginata—

Kaido narrowed his dragon-like eyes, running his hand along the weapon's haft, feeling the weight and the pulse of its aura.

Its form… the handle… the terrifying, dominant energy radiating from it…

"How can this be…"

"This naginata looks exactly like that old bastard Whitebeard's…"

The thought flickered briefly through his mind—

but he immediately shook his head.

"No way."

"Impossible."

Kaido dismissed the notion outright.

"Whitebeard treated his naginata like his own life! There's no way he would've lost it!"

"And besides…"

"That brat Akira's been in Wano for eighteen years—he hasn't even left Onigashima lately!"

"How the hell could he possibly get his hands on Whitebeard's naginata?"

He exhaled sharply.

"…Must be a replica."

That conclusion soothed him.

"Still… this craftsmanship…"

"To withstand a direct hit from my Hassaikai…"

"Damn… this thing's definitely Great Grade level—maybe even a high-tier imitation close to Supreme Grade."

Kaido's face twisted slightly in disgust.

The longer he stared at the weapon, the more he wanted to confiscate it.

"Damn brat… how dare my son-in-law use a weapon that looks exactly like Whitebeard's?!"

But he stopped himself.

"Tch. The boy's a swordsman through and through. If I force him to switch to a spiked club now, he'll lose his edge."

"Fine…"

Kaido sighed deeply.

"I'll have to teach him gradually."

"He needs to learn one absolute truth—"

"That a spiked club is the ultimate symbol of manhood!"

He looked down at the massive crater his final strike had carved into the ground.

"Ugh… khuh, khuh…"

From the edge of the pit, Akira slowly climbed out—his body covered in blood, but his eyes still blazing with fierce determination.

Kaido looked at him with deep satisfaction.

The more he watched, the greater his pride swelled.

"This boy's body…"

"His growth is insane!"

"Just one night with my daughter and he's already this strong?!"

"No… after two hours of my 'personal training,' he's grown even stronger again!"

"What a monster… a true prodigy in battle!"

His thoughts drifted to King, Queen, and Jack.

He exhaled quietly, shaking his head.

"Those three have already hit their limits."

"They'll never surpass themselves."

"They can't inherit my power."

His gaze returned to Akira—

and for the first time, a flicker of genuine recognition glimmered in his eyes.

"But this kid…"

"His rate of growth is terrifying!"

"His fighting spirit—utterly fearless of death itself!"

"One day… he might actually reach my level."

"Wororororo!"

"My power finally has a worthy successor!!"

Kaido felt his heart settle, pride overflowing.

He exhaled one last time, then casually tossed something forward.

Clang!

Murakumogiri landed before Akira's feet.

"Boy, use that 'ugly naginata' for now."

"Soon, you'll train with me—

and learn how to wield a spiked club properly."

"Thank you… khuh, khuh… for your guidance, Father-in-law."

Akira leaned on the naginata, sitting heavily amid the rubble.

But behind his exhausted eyes, his mind was already spinning—

calculating exactly how to act next,

how to leave Onigashima and reunite with Yamato

without raising any suspicion.

After "teaching his lesson," Kaido, back in human form, was in an excellent mood.

He slung Hassaikai over his shoulder and began walking toward the main hall—

ready to celebrate with sake again.

But at that moment—

"Boss Kaido."

A deep, weary voice spoke up beside him.

King approached with long strides, his tone solemn.

He'd waited two entire hours for this ridiculous fight to end.

"Wororororo! Oh, it's you, King!"

Kaido turned, still smiling broadly.

"What is it? Why that sour look on your face?"

King straightened his back, eyes steady behind his black mask.

"Boss… Young Master Yamato…"

Kaido froze for a moment.

"That girl again?"

"What's she done this time?"

"Didn't Akira 'discipline' her enough to make her behave?"

King took a slow breath, then delivered the one line Kaido least wanted to hear.

"About an hour and a half ago…"

"It's been confirmed—Young Master Yamato has escaped from Wano."

"???"

The joy drained from Kaido's face like color from stone.

The wind stopped.

Even the air seemed to freeze.

Kaido blinked once. Slowly.

"What…"

"…did you just say?"

BOOOOOOM!!!

A burst of Conqueror's Haki exploded outward—

far more violent than anything from their earlier battle!

"Whoosh!"

In a blur, Kaido appeared right in front of King, his hand shooting forward to grab the man by the collar—lifting him effortlessly off the ground!

"An hour and a half ago?!"

"Then why, YOU DAMN FOOL—!!!"

"WHY ARE YOU TELLING ME JUST NOW?!!"

Kaido's roar thundered like a storm,

the air around them trembling under his voice!

King, dangling in the air, didn't even flinch.

Behind the mask, his expression was unreadable.

He merely rolled his eyes slightly, tone dry and heavy.

"…Boss."

"I told you."

"Three times."

"Exactly three times."

"And the last time—"

"It was you who told me to shut up and step aside."

Kaido froze.

For a long moment, no words came.

Slowly, his furious expression twisted into one of awkward realization.

He remembered now—

King had tried to report something mid-battle.

And he had yelled at him not to interrupt.

The words that were about to erupt from Kaido's mouth instead died in his throat.

His hand holding King trembled midair—

then froze completely.

"…"

As Kaido stood there dumbfounded, unsure who to be angry at—

"WHAT?!"

"MY WIFE ESCAPED?!"

A voice even louder than Kaido's suddenly echoed across the ruins!

"Whoosh!"

Akira shot up from the crater, gripping Murakumogiri tightly in his hand!

He glared furiously at King—still hanging in Kaido's grasp—his eyes burning with wild emotion!

"WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?!"

"MY WIFE REALLY ESCAPED?!"

It was as if a professional actor had possessed him.

His messy hair lifted with the surge of fury, his crimson eyes flared, his whole face twisted with genuine rage—

the picture of a man who had truly lost control.

He spun sharply, his furious gaze landing on several Gifters nearby who had just regained consciousness after being knocked out earlier.

"YOU USELESS, WORTHLESS TRASH!!!"

"A WOMAN—INJURED!"

"A WOMAN WHO COULD BARELY WALK AFTER MY 'TRAINING' LAST NIGHT!!"

"AND YOU STILL LET HER ESCAPE?!"

"WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU ALL DOING?!"

BOOOOM!!!

Akira's killing intent erupted—crushing the air itself!

He stepped forward, Murakumogiri raised high, his voice roaring across the ruins!

"DON'T YOU DARE RUN!!"

"TODAY—I'LL CUT EVERY LAST ONE OF YOU DOWN!!!"
