Chapter 14 - Chapter 14

"It feels good to be back in my home country." "I kind of missed this warmth," Mia says to her friend Ruby, who was covered in luxury clothing and accessories.

"I'm so envious of you, man. You have a handsome and wealthy husband, a successful career, and you are freaking beautiful." Ruby tells Mia.

"Trust me, it doesn't get any better. " Mia informs Ruby.

"What's that about the rumour with that girl?" Ruby asks.

"Huh, Cayci?" Mia asks.

"Yeah, I don't know her name. You are prettier than her. If she dares to lay a finger on him, I won't let him live a normal life." Ruby grunts.

"Nothing like that, his manager confirmed that he asked her to pick. More than that, she is my childhood friend, and she's a good person." Mia takes her side.

"You really shouldn't trust someone so easily, you know. People who put on an extra show are the ones hiding their personality." Ruby doesn't accept her explanation fully.

"I think I need to be worried about his fans than hers right now. Our house has been broken into three times we had stalkers even when we were on a trip." Mia diverts the topic.

"That's scary. Be safe, girl." Ruby shows her concern.

"Yeah, I'm actually afraid to hire anyone new because they all look for your personal belongings to sell online." Mia continues.

"Speak about being creepy. Increase the security." Ruby shivers.

"Yes, we should probably beef up security. Zin inquired if I needed assistance with that; he's so concerned about how I feel, thinks everything is his fault." Mia mentions it.

"That's why I'm jealous, he's handsome and considerate." Ruby mumbles.

"Haha, I'll be right back after that call."

"Please order some dessert." Mia takes her phone and walks to the restaurant's quiet alley as she speaks to someone.

"Yes, that is correct. I'll notify you." Mia is on the phone.

As Mia speaks and stretches her legs, she notices two people, Bryan and someone else, making out. She tries to ignore it and move away from the scene when she hears a familiar voice cussing, and her heart drops. That familiar sound, the same toxic partner she never got over.

She lost track of time and stood there in shock; when she came to, she ran as fast as she could to her car.

Did I hear it right? Is he over me? Why am I trembling? Why am I feeling guilty?

Mia had a lot of questions in her head, all of which pointed to the same thing: she wasn't over him. Although she willingly exchanged vows with someone else.

With no answers in her head, she returned home. Emotions all over the place and pain in her chest gave her the worst heartbreak. Only to find Zin and Cayci at her door, waiting for her.

"Is something wrong?" Mia inquires, looking at their expressions,

"No, come in. We needed to discuss something." Zin speaks up, being uneasy and scared.

"Can we do that another time? I'm exhausted." Mia enters her room.

"No, Mia. We need to talk right now." Zin calls back.

Mia returns their attention, and they begin to explain how they met,

"We were working on a project, and a dating scandal started during that time; we didn't know each other. After knowing she isn't interested, we became friends," Zin spoke.

"I'm fine, I know it's not true, all those scandals," Mia replies with little annoyance.

"That's not all." Cayci interrupted, looking at Zin for confirmation to move forward,

Zin started saying how they like each other, and how they ended up together. And about their love even after the marriage.

"I didn't want to lose you after waiting so long, and in the process, I'm hurting you for my own selfish reasons," he explained. Zin takes a stand.

"I'm really sorry, Mia," Cayci says, and Mia scoffs.

"I noticed something strange about how you treated Cayci. I dashed towards you and your phoney promise, leaving all unresolved issues behind. I trusted you to make me happy to compensate for the rest of my life. I was never happy with you, and I used to feel bad that I dragged you into it, but now I see that all you did was spend money and act normally. I should thank you for putting an end to this and relieving me of my guilt, but don't expect me to forgive you both."

Mia lashes out of the house and drives to a nearby bar. Barely keeping it together, trying to push all the thoughts out of her mind.
