Chapter 7 - Arc 1: Chapter 7, Saving the day

Eric sat down again, closed his eyes, relaxed his body, and stopped thinking for a while. He had decided to take a small nap. He stopped thinking as his mind calmed down, and he quickly fell asleep.

He was later woken up by the announcement an hour later and slowly opened his eyes. His eyes blinked a few times before fully opening and looking around.

He turned his head to the left and saw Ruby with her head leaning on his left arm, sleeping soundly, and Max on his right, sleeping with his hand on his shoulder. On Max's right side, with her head leaning on his right arm, Zoe was also sleeping.

"I seem to have started a chain reaction," he thought before shaking Max and Ruby with his shoulders and telling them to wake up.

All three of them woke up, stretched their bodies, and stood up Eric told them about the announcement as they bent down and took their luggage.

"Finally, we can start anew!" Max exclaimed while stretching his back. Zoe just stared with her droopy eyelids. She stayed quiet and let him scream, as no matter how much she tried, she could never stop him from overreacting.

"Just make sure to have a room with a big TV," Ruby looked at Eric and gave her request to him. Her voice was calm. Eric gave a small nod in reply.

He then ran his hand through her silky, long, kelly-green hair and, with a small smile and a polite tone, he said,

"Don't worry, I have already rented a room to your preference before coming here. We won't need to go to a hotel; we can go straight there."

Ruby gave a sweet smile in response. Even though Eric didn't show much emotion, he always thought of her preferences and did everything beforehand. He was always prepared for everything and always made the smart decision, too. She couldn't ask for more.

Zoe, staring at them, couldn't help but feel a little envy as she glanced sideways and looked at her childish and eccentric husband, who was looking at the sweet shops and salivating. She wished for him to be smart and responsible like Eric, but he was lazy and irresponsible all the time and didn't even help her with housework.

However, no matter how much she screamed at him or rebuked him, she still loved him a lot. She found his expressions cute and lovely, unlike others who would say he was handsome. She had married him for his bravery, courage, and kindness. His willingness to protect his friends had made her covet him and marry him in the end. As long as she knew, Eric could help them find a place to rent. The reason she screamed at him was due to her embarrassment and frustration—seriously, he could get annoying at times.

Then they turned to their respective jetway and, with other people in front and behind them, found their way to the plane and entered in a normal manner.

Max and Eric sat in row number 4 on the right side of the plane, with Max sitting in the window seat. Even though he had been on a plane many times, he still acted like a child sitting on a plane for the first time. Eric sat beside him. In the row behind them, row no. 5, Ruby sat in the window seat with Zoe beside her.

The other passengers also came and sat in their own respective seats. The pilot then entered the plane and apologized to the air hostess for being late. He was chubby, with breadcrumbs around his mouth, indicating he had just been eating something sweet before coming. He had an amiable smile and a chubby face. His lips were thin, and his nose was low-ended; around his eyes and mouth were clear wrinkles, and he had white sideburns around his black hair, indicating that he was old. But in his lusterless eyes was confidence. His black eyes weren't lusterless because he was bored with his life or job, but because he had been on too many flights, and the excitement, nervousness, and worries he used to have in his youth were long gone. Now, while flying, he no longer felt anything and focused only on training recruits and retiring soon.

The air hostess whispered in his ear about the breadcrumbs around his mouth, and his eyes widened as he used his left sleeve to rub them off and apologized to her. He then entered the cockpit and closed the door.

A sharp noise echoed in the plane as the pilot started to give his announcement. He had a very sweet and experienced voice with a little bit of hoarseness.

"Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, and the cute little children. This is your captain, Patrick Forgoness speaking. I welcome you aboard Vnukovo International Airport's SUV124. Our flight destination is Paris. I can already tell that you all are eager to see the Eiffel Tower; it will definitely be worth the trip. We are going to be flying 10,000 metres above the surface level at 850 km/h. Our estimated time of arrival in Paris is 4 in the afternoon. The weather here is quite cold as always, but don't worry—once we reach Paris, you will feel the burning sun shining high in the sky. Remember that your seatbelts must be fastened at all times when the seatbelt sign is on. That is all from me. If you have any problems or emergencies, you can always consult the air hostess. I thank you all for boarding this plane. I wish you all a happy life." With that, the announcement stopped.

"So the plane will take four hours to reach Paris." Eric checked the time on his watch; it was 12:02 a.m. currently, and calculated when the flight would land in Paris.

The air hostess stood in front of the cockpit, bowed to all the passengers, and started to explain all of the safety precautions. Eric did not care about them and turned his gaze to Max, who was looking out the window with bright eyes. He looked back to check on Zoe and Ruby and found them whispering to each other. After taking a look at every passenger on the plane, Eric turned his expressionless face straight ahead.

Suddenly, a drop of golden liquid with yellow particles seeped out of the back of his right hand, which was resting on the armrest, and sat there like a drop for less than a second before it evaporated with a spark. Eric said in his mind:

"There is danger in Paris, Max. Be careful when we get there."

Max's excited posture suddenly calmed down, but he still kept looking out the window with bright eyes as a golden liquid with orange particles also seeped out of his left hand and evaporated with a spark as he "replied" to Eric in his mind:

"What kind of danger?" he asked Eric in a confused tone. This "reply" was clearly heard by Eric in his mind as if he had spoken it aloud.

"I do not know. We will have to investigate before finding out what danger is there, but one thing is for sure... and that is the danger is huge and unlike any before," Eric "replied to Max's question.

Max did not question further and just nodded his head slightly, indicating that he understood and would keep his guard up.

Unnoticeably to others except Eric, Max's expression did not change, but his posture became serious and careful, ready to take action in case something happened.

The plane started to take off and fly into the sky. The plane rose into the sky and pierced through the clouds. All the kids on the plane were shocked and excited at the beautiful scene. Eric's lips curled up into a smile as he watched the kids' reactions.

Since he had already decided on his sequence of actions upon reaching Paris, he decided to relax his mind. He wasn't sleepy thanks to the nap he had taken earlier and decided to watch a movie while Zoe and Ruby continued to talk to each other, and Max continued to look out the window with his guard up.

Two hours went by like that, and most of the elderly on the plane had gone to sleep. The young adults and middle-aged people were watching movies like Eric or looking out the window and thinking about random things like Max.

Zoe was watching a romantic movie while Ruby was watching a tutorial on how to make Parisian delicacies, and soon fell asleep.

Eric was thinking of sleeping after completing a detective movie when suddenly his eyes widened as his premonition was triggered. He looked straight at the closed cockpit and quickly deduced why his premonition had been triggered.

He instantly calmed his body and returned to a calm and gentle posture. The golden liquid with yellow particles floating in it seeped out of his hand again and evaporated with a spark as he "warned" Max.

"This plane is going to crash."

Max "heard" the warning and "replied" with a question.

"How?"

To him, this was the most critical question, as only after knowing how could they stop the plane from crashing. It was okay even if the plane were to crash—he had full confidence that he and Eric could survive the impact—but with their wives on the plane, this idea was cut off instantly.

Eric immediately "answered" his question,

"The chubby captain is going to suffer a heart attack, causing him to faint, and the inexperienced trainee beside him will panic and lose control of the plane, resulting in the plane crashing and most of the people being killed."

"So what should we do? Let me tell you, if I hadn't told you, I don't know how to fly a plane!" Max "confirmed" with Eric before waiting to "hear" his friend's solution to the problem."It is all right. The situation will happen in the next five minutes. Let's first warn the air hostess; the crashing of the plane can be easily resolved."

Eric then called for the air hostess and, with a hesitant smile and calm voice, requested her, "Hello, miss, Sorry for troubling you, but can you please go to the pilot and ask him if he is feeling ok?"

"I won't mind going and checking the health of the captain, sir, but why?" The air hostess questioned, obviously.

Eric lied that he was a doctor and that the captain looked to be diabetic; he had come on the plane after eating sweets, which could be seen by anyone as there were crumbs left on his face, and it could be dangerous for the safety of the passengers, including his own. He would feel more comfortable if the condition of the captain were optimal.

He wasn't afraid of his lie being pointed out by Zoe or Ruby because they were already sleeping.

The air hostess looked at him for a few seconds and then nodded and headed to the cockpit to check the health of the captain and for any other problems.

"Sir, there is a doctor on the place, and he has asked about your health. Are you feeling ok?" The chubby captain turned around and was about to answer her that he was alright, but just then, a sharp pain occurred in his chest. The captain clutched his chest with his left hand, screamed in pain, and fell on the floor of the control room. The trainee fell into panic and lost control of the plane.

The plane jolted suddenly, jerking all the passengers. All the sleeping passengers were jolted awake, and everyone seemed to be in shock at the sudden jerk and looked at the cockpit. They couldn't figure out what was happening, but the worst thought came to their minds: They were going to crash!

The kids started to cry and hug their parents tightly, and everyone seemed to be in panic when the other air hostesses came and tried to calm all of them down, but no matter how much they tried, they couldn't calm them down as the plane started to fall, causing everyone to scream, except Max and Eric.

Zoe and Ruby had their eyes closed as they screamed and hugged each other.

Eric raised his right hand from the armrest and, with no one noticing, spread open his hand. A pink liquid with black particles floating in it seeped out of his hand. This liquid was thicker and denser than the golden liquid that had seeped out earlier, with which Max and Eric had "talked" to each other.

The pink liquid quickly fell off his hand and dropped down, but it did not settle on the floor of the plane; it passed through it like it was air and fell out of the plane.

Upon reaching outside the plane and in the sky, the pink liquid condensed together and shaped itself into a sparrow. It flew into the tyre of the plane and fell on it as it lost its shape. The pink liquid seeped into the tyre, and after a few seconds, the plane stopped shaking and returned to its original pathway, causing all the passengers, pilot, and air hostesses to be shocked as they were in awe of this miracle. Then a large rush of happiness flooded them as they prayed to God and thanked him for this miracle.

Even Max acted shocked. Zoe and Ruby only then remembered to hug their husbands, too, but when they looked at the seats in front of them, they saw that they were empty. Eric and Max ran to the cockpit and saw the air hostess giving the captain CPR while the trainee was shocked and heaved a sigh of relief upon being able to control the plane again. He was very happy about the miracle that had happened just now, due to which he got time to control the plane.

Eric pushed aside the air hostess and acted like he was checking the situation of the captain, checking his heartbeat and whatnot, then he started to give him CPR.

"Wasn't this what I was just doing?" the air hostess thought as she looked at Eric. Eric used the CPR as a disguise as the golden liquid seeped out from the front of his left hand that was pressed against the chest of the captain, and thus the air hostess couldn't see it. The golden liquid with yellow particles seeped into the body of the captain as it passed through his clothes like they weren't even there.

Eric pulled back his hands and stood up. The air hostess was about to ask if the young gentleman in front of him needed some equipment or anything else to save the captain, but when she saw the captain open his eyes in shock and stand up. She was stunned. He looked around and was able to guess what had happened.

He stared at his hands for a few seconds and saw that the old scars that were there had disappeared. No, it was more like they had never even been there. He rubbed his chest and realized that all the pain was gone, and his heart attack had stopped.

He looked up and saw a handsome, tall, and cultured young man in front of him who had an expressionless face.

"Are you okay, captain? You should go to the hospital after landing," the air hostess said and advised the captain.

"I am fine; you do not need to worry. I feel like even my diabetes has disappeared," the captain chuckled with a smile.

"So he was diabetic," Eric said in his mind.

The captain then bowed and thanked Eric for his help, apologized to all the passengers, and promised to give them reimbursement. What did Max do? Nothing; he was just there looking around the control room for fun, poking fun at the panicked co-pilot as he asked him questions and attempted to click buttons randomly.

After this entire ordeal, at 4 in the afternoon, the plane finally landed in Paris, and all the passengers were given back their money as reimbursement and many coupons with an apology from the entire staff.
