"Relics?" Visie whispered the word to herself in a low voice as her gaze turned to the surface of the table. She contemplated for a few minutes, readying an explanation for Adrian in her mind.
She took a deep sigh and started to explain. "Relics are simply objects that have been infused with Auras and gained abilities which can be utilized by us smart Aura users. There are five types of relics with their own uses and features. Let's get you through each of them thoroughly.
"The first type of relics is known as 'awakening relics.' These types of relics have the sole purpose of linking a person with the 'Layer of Natural Aura' to awaken their Aura and make them an Aura user. They have no other use outside of that. These are made by blacksmiths and can't be formed naturally. Many families keep them as heirlooms to pass down to the next generation."
"I also awakened with the help of an awakening relic. They are really useful. Can they be used multiple times?" Adrian tilted his chin a little and asked.
Visie nodded, "Yes, they can be used multiple times, but they have a limit before they break. An awakening relic can only be used once by a person. No matter how hard a person tries, once they make a connection with the 'Layer of Natural Aura'—whether they fail or succeed in awakening their Aura—they can never use an awakening relic again in their life."
"The second type of relics is called charms. I'm pretty sure you're familiar with them, guessing by the fact that you have one." Visie pointed out the black ring Adrian wore on his finger. Adrian nodded his head and said in a low voice, "Yes, a little."
"Charms are relics that can be mass-produced by any Aura user at or above the rank of Lysi Nova. You just need to put a little of your Aura in an object, and the object will become a charm. They are accessories that a person can wear and gain a little buff from them. Their effects wear off with time. They have no negative effects on the user and are easily disposable. They are used by simple labourers and low-ranking Aura users all the time. That's why they are always in demand and supply. When one becomes a Lysi Nova, They can make charms using their own Aura and sell them. When you become an Lysi Nova, It can be used as a way to earn some money."
"The third type of relics is known as 'mystical relics.' Now, these are relics that every Aura user desires, especially those of the pathway they are from. Mystical relics are categorised in ranks from Rank 6 to 0. Except for Auri Nova and Nova-level mystical relics, they don't have a time limit to be used. They give powers and abilities for the user to use but also give negative effects that the user has to manage if they carry the relic with them and use it. The higher the rank, the more powerful the relic's abilities and negative effects are. A Rank 0 relic is said to be equivalent to a True Supernova. They are very powerful, but their negative effects are tremendous—even for a True Supernova to handle. And they also follow the law of Aura symbiosis, buffing the Auras of synonymous pathways and causing friction to Auras of antonymous pathways. Mystical relics are made by blacksmiths using preserved Auras or made naturally when an Aura user dies and the Aura—instead of returning to the 'Layer of Natural Aura'—infuses itself with an object."
Eric turned to the right and started to whistle quietly to himself after hearing Visie's explanation of mystical relics. Except for Max, no one else knew that he had a Rank 0 relic with him. He wondered what their reactions would be if they found out.
"The difference between charms and Mystical relics can be understand by this example, Imagine, You have an apple that can grow itself back after being eaten if even just a little piece of it is left, to make money, you cut it into small pieces but keeps the biggest part with you, and sell the smaller pieces, once the apple becomes whole again, you repeat the process, This is the process of making and selling charms, then, If someone kills you and takes your apple and put it in a box, then it will be like a mystical relic. I know my explanation lacks many details but I hope you get the gist of it."
Adrian nodded simply and let her continue.
"The fourth type of relics is known as dreadful relics. These relics are made using the consciousness and Aura of another Aura user. A ritual is required to push out the Aura of an Aura user into an object, but during the ritual, the consciousness of the Aura user is also dragged away. This ritual is a very terrifying one for the one getting tormented. It is very, very painful and makes the user feel desperation, hopelessness, and whatnot. This ritual alone is the reason Aura users don't trust each other. Normally, it is banned in most places, but can laws really stop people from committing horrible acts?"
Adrian stayed quiet as he silently gulped the saliva that had formed in his mouth.
Visie continued. "Dreadful relics can be easily distinguished from mystical relics—most of them have living characteristics and always try to harm their user. They are a pain to deal with, and they also have much harsher negative effects when compared to mystical relics. They can't be formed naturally or by any blacksmith. Only by using that specific ritual can one make a dreadful relic."
"The dreadful relics sound like a pain to deal with," Adrian commented. Visie didn't reply and just continued.
"The fifth and last type of relics is sealing relics. These are relics that are made by blacksmiths, and their sole purpose is to seal a place, people, or relics—mostly dreadful relics. Even mystical relics can be used as sealing relics. These types of relics are mostly in demand by big bodies, organisations, and families who usually have huge relic vaults and need something to seal them—even more so if they have a lot of dreadful relics."
Adrian nodded his head. His head ached like crazy. This was the last question he had asked. He was going to be quiet, but just then, Visie gets a strange premonition and asked a question. "I can't help but ask. Adrian, tell me about the things you saw when you made a connection with the 'Layer of Natural Aura?'"
