Chapter 3 - Only I remember

---

Morning sunlight filled Nobita's room, warm and peaceful — the complete opposite of the burning nightmare world he had just died in.

But Nobita didn't feel peace.

Only trembling.

His hands wouldn't stop shaking.

His breath came out in small, quick gasps.

He remembered everything.

The missiles…

The black gas…

Leon and Helena dying…

Doraemon's chest torn open…

the Tyrant's claw…

and his own death.

It felt too real to be a dream.

Nobita sat upright, hugging his knees.

His pajamas were soaked with cold sweat.

The door slid open softly.

"Nobita?" Doraemon peeked in.

"You're awake early. Are you okay?"

Nobita froze.

Doraemon was alive.

Whole.

Smiling.

No cracks.

No wires spilling out.

No flickering LED eyes.

Just… Doraemon.

Nobita's throat tightened.

"…Doraemon…"

"Hm?"

Nobita suddenly ran and hugged him, burying his face into Doraemon's soft body.

Doraemon blinked in confusion.

"H-Hey! Nobita, what's this all of a sudden?"

"I thought… I lost you…"

He started crying quietly, clutching Doraemon's fur tighter.

Doraemon gently patted his back.

"Calm down, Nobita. You must've had a nightmare."

Nobita shook his head violently.

"It wasn't a nightmare… Everyone died… Leon, Helena, you… the whole world… I saw it…"

Doraemon placed both paws on Nobita's shoulders and looked him straight in the eyes.

"Nobita… dreams can feel scary and real, but—"

"But I DID die!" Nobita yelled, voice cracking.

"I died, Doraemon! I… I felt it… and then… something saved me!"

Doraemon's expression softened, but his eyes filled with concern.

"Nobita, listen… you're safe here. Nothing like that can happen."

Nobita squeezed his eyes shut.

He knew Doraemon wouldn't believe him.

Who would believe something like that?

That's when it happened.

A small blue window blinked into existence in front of Nobita.

Only he could see it.

---

[SURVIVAL SYSTEM]

Day Remaining: 365

Reward: +1 Willpower

Failure: Emotional Collapse

---

Nobita swallowed hard.

He looked up at Doraemon again.

"Doraemon… will you listen to me seriously? Just once?"

Doraemon hesitated, then nodded.

"Okay. Tell me."

Nobita took a deep breath.

"There's something coming. A virus. A gas. It will turn people into monsters. I saw the whole thing. I saw you die. I saw the city burn. I saw—"

"Nobita," Doraemon interrupted softly, "you're just frightened. You probably watched something scary—"

"I DIDN'T WATCH ANYTHING!" Nobita shouted, tears forming again.

"I lived it. I died. I know the exact day it will start."

Doraemon blinked.

"…The exact day?"

"Yes."

Nobita pointed at the invisible window.

"In one year… 365 days from now… everything will start."

Doraemon stared at him.

But he can't see

Not angry.

Not dismissive.

But worried.

"Did something happen recently? Did someone scare you? Did Gian—"

"No!!"

Nobita screamed again, voice breaking.

"I AM the only one who remembers. The world reset. Only me. Because I died."

The room fell silent.

Doraemon lowered his gaze, thinking.

"…Nobita. I believe you're scared, but—"

Nobita's heart sank.

Doraemon didn't believe him.

Not even a little.

The System window blinked again.

[Quest Failed: "Warn Someone"]

Penalty Applied: Emotional Strain

Nobita's mental stability has decreased.

---

Nobita felt a stab of pain behind his forehead.

He gripped his head and dropped to the floor, panting.

"NOBITA!" Doraemon rushed forward, panicked.

"What's happening?!"

"I… I'm fine…" Nobita lied, trying to breathe.

Doraemon helped him sit upright.

"Maybe we should go see a doctor," Doraemon whispered.

"No…"

Nobita whispered back.

"…a doctor can't help me."

The images of death flashed again.

His heartbeat raced.

Doraemon watched him silently, concerned but helpless.

Nobita wiped his eyes, trembling.

He couldn't depend on Doraemon.

Not this time.

Not when Doraemon would be killed again if Nobita doesn't act.

Nobita clenched his fists.

"I have one year," he whispered.

"One year to prepare."

Doraemon tilted his head. "Prepare for what?"

Nobita looked up, eyes filled with cold determination.

"…For the end of the world."

In next day morning

Nobita's breath shook.

The world outside the window looked peaceful.

Children walking to school.

Mothers chatting.

Birds flying.

No zombies.

No chaos.

No smoke.

But he knew better.

This peace was just the beginning of the countdown.

---

He wiped his tears, stood, and took a deep breath.

"Doraemon."

"Yes?"

"I'm going to school today."

Doraemon blinked. "Uh… okay? That's normal—wait, you want to go to school?"

Nobita nodded firmly.

"I need to get stronger. Smarter. Faster. I won't be useless again."

Doraemon stared, shocked.

This Nobita…

felt different.

More serious.

More focused.

More grown-up.

Doraemon slowly smiled.

"Well… that's good, Nobita. I'm proud of you."

Nobita nodded, trying to smile back—

but pain still flickered in his chest.

As he walked outside, the System popped up one last message.

Fear is just the first phase.
