Chapter 170 - Chapter 170: The Lord of the Rings 1

I headed outside to find out what was happening. I saw the YoRHa units split into two factions, facing off against each other. On one side, the Commander, 2B, and A2 stood at the center, swords drawn to prevent anyone from approaching my house. On the other side, the androids weren't trying to fight; they were simply holding up pickets.

"What is going on here?"

When I asked the Commander, she replied to me.

"Commander Cassian, it seems some defectives have appeared among the androids. To think they would dare to rebel against you! This is unacceptable. Just give the order, and I will dispose of these defectives immediately."

"They don't look like they're trying to fight. Let's hear their reason first."

I called over an android who was protesting to hear her story.

"So, why are you doing this?"

"We would like you to create male-model androids. We also want to share love like the characters in dramas and movies. We beg of you."

"Hmm... I see. I understand. But where did you learn to protest?"

"I saw it in a movie. I thought doing this would allow us to appeal more strongly. We weren't trying to rebel."

It seemed dramas and movies were the root of all this.

"I see. Still, protesting like this can lead to misunderstandings. If you have any suggestions in the future, speak through the Commander."

"Understood."

With that, the protesters dispersed. I began to analyze why they were doing this. After looking at the statistics of what they did during their time off after work, I found it was all swimming pools, cinemas, bathhouses, and watching dramas. It seemed this was a phenomenon caused by a lack of entertainment facilities. Because they spent all their time watching dramas and movies, they were being influenced by them.

"Hmm... Entertainment... I wonder what else I can add..."

First, I started making the male androids they wanted. I also built various entertainment facilities: a large amusement park, a sports center, a game center, a concert hall, a cafe, and a park. I actively encouraged hobbies too: hiking, art, music, research clubs, and so on.

I also decided to introduce the concept of cash and pay them a monthly salary. With their salary, they could buy decorations for their quarters or various clothes, and use the new entertainment facilities. Naturally, I built a bank because of that. This was a method to provide rewards, a sense of accomplishment, and the power of choice.

Time passed, and I produced about 100 male androids. While I was at it, I also created Devola and Popola from 'Nier: Automata,' as well as Kaine from 'Nier Replicant.' They are female, of course. I'll pass on the intersex models. Kaine served as a bodyguard, while Devola and Popola acted as secretaries.

Since Alteria (Starkiller Base) was so vast, there were no issues even after building all this and producing more androids. There was still plenty of spare room.

After about two years, the androids weren't just watching movies and dramas; they were enjoying the various entertainment facilities, working hard at their hobbies, and even starting to form couples. Their satisfaction levels were quite high, and there didn't seem to be any major problems yet.

"Now that those issues are sorted, I should get back to enjoying my life of leisure."

I clicked on my list of leisure activities. Since I can now transform into a dragon, I searched for a fantasy world to visit and the 'Lord of the Rings' series created by J.R.R. Tolkien caught my eye.

'Hmm... Lord of the Rings...'

There were several versions, but I skipped the TV series. The period when the rings were being forged wasn't very interesting. So, I considered going to the movie versions of either 'The Hobbit' or 'The Lord of the Rings.'

'Maybe I should go to "The Hobbit" and slap Smaug across the face...'

That thought seemed incredibly fun, so I decided to enter 'The Hobbit.' Although the avatar options included Elves, I ignored them and went in person again. I paid 752 points and set the start date to five years before the original story began.

Upon entering the Lord of the Rings world, I saw only vast plains. Not knowing exactly where I was, I flew up high and looked down at the continent from the sky. Based on the terrain, I seemed to be somewhere between the Shire and Isengard.

"Hmm... Should I build a house? If it's Lord of the Rings, it has to be a tower, right? Now, where to put it..."

I looked around and found a nice flat area in the Misty Mountains south of Rivendell. I leveled the ground and began building a tower out of granite. I built it very thick and sturdy, tall enough that no ordinary impact could shake it. With Nano's help and my [Architecture] skill, it took less than a week to build.

Once the tower was complete, I made the main gate extremely strong using an alloy. However, decorating the interior took some time. Since this world lacked electricity, I debated whether to use an Arc Reactor but eventually decided to do it. It just felt wrong not to have electricity.

"Well, I'm here for sightseeing, so nothing big should happen."

I was passing the time by building bathrooms and a bathhouse when I suddenly saw someone approaching on horseback. I went out and found that Elves had come to visit.

"Who are you?"

"We are people from Rivendell. We came to investigate since a tall tower suddenly appeared."

"I see. Come on in for now."

I led the Elves into the living room. They were completely dazed by the bright lights and plush sofa.

"Wow~ this chair is so soft. I wonder what kind of master craftsman made this?"

"What are these strange lights?"

The Elves' reactions were quite amusing, but I couldn't just leave them like that, so I invited them to sit.

"Please, sit. I'll bring out some tea."

"Yes, thank you."

I went to the kitchen, brewed some black tea, and handed it to the Elves. They seemed more interested in the teacups than the tea itself.

"Wow~ to think such beautiful teacups existed..."

"I agree. I've never seen a cup like this before..."

'Man, these primitives really need to tone it down.'

It was fun at first, but after a while, it got a bit old. The Elves enjoyed the aroma of the tea and took small sips.

"Oh~ the tea is delicious as well."

"It's black tea. It's made by steeping leaves brought in from a distant land and adding a bit of honey. I'm glad it suits your taste."

"I see. Ahem... Anyway, to get to the main point, about this tower suddenly appearing here..."

I decided to stay faithful to my chosen concept.

"I am a dragon. I was somewhere else but got bored and decided to live here."

At that, the Elves were so shocked they spat out their tea.

"Pfft... Gah! Cough, cough!"

I immediately cleaned up the tea they spat using [Life Magic]. The Elves watched with wide eyes, completely astounded.

"Is something wrong?"

"That... it's... no, it's nothing. We'll be on our way now."

"I see. You're my first guests since I built the house, so feel free to stay and rest longer if you like."

"No, no. We have a lot of work to do."

The Elves were breaking out in a cold sweat.

"All right, I understand. Then I'll see you next time."

"Understood. Thank you for your hospitality."

I saw the Elves out of the tower. As soon as they were outside, they began running away like mad.

"I didn't realize dragons were that scary. Well, it makes sense since dragons fought under Morgoth during the War of Wrath."

Anyway, after sending the Elves off, I saw some dirt in the living room and cleaned it up before continuing to decorate. A week later, the Elves returned. This time, they were somewhat armed, and at the head of the group was a familiar face. It was Elrond, the Lord of Rivendell.

I went out and welcomed them warmly.

"You've been having a lot of visitors lately. What brings you here?"

"You who call yourself a dragon, reveal your true identity!"

Elrond threatened me, drawing his sword the moment he saw me.

"I thought I told you last time? I'm a dragon."

Even though I said this, they didn't believe me.

"Don't lie! Almost all dragons died during the War of Wrath, and we know the few that remain."

"Geez... Can't be helped, then?"

I immediately used my [Transformation] ability to slowly turn into Safi'jiiva. The Elves were thrown into chaos as they scrambled to calm their startled horses.

"Grrr... Do you believe me now?"

My low, heavy voice vibrated across the earth.

"Th-this cannot be... To think such a massive dragon existed besides Smaug... And even using magic..."

Elrond, in particular, seemed shocked by my transformation.

"So, are we going to fight now? I'm trying to live a quiet life, but you keep bothering me."

I said this as I menacingly stomped my forepaw on the ground.

BOOM!

A loud sound echoed, and the ground trembled. Elrond hurriedly apologized.

"My apologies for doubting you. It was not our intention to pester you."

I pretended to consider it for a moment before speaking.

"Hmm... Fine. I'll accept your apology. However, I must have compensation. Leave all the horses you rode here. Then I will overlook your rude behavior."

"Understood. We will do so."

The Elves left yet again. Several days passed. I finished decorating my home and practiced riding the horses I had acquired while Nano taught me horsemanship. With Nano providing clear instructions through holographic images, I learned quickly. Since no new ability notification popped up, it seemed horseback riding was included under my [Sports] ability.

While I was spending some peaceful time riding, more guests arrived. This time, Elrond was accompanied by an old man in a grey robe; it was clearly Gandalf.

"What is it this time? Was my last warning not enough?"

"No. We've come to talk this time."

"I see. If that's the case, you're always welcome. I was starting to get bored anyway."

I led them inside and served them black tea again.

"So, what did you come to talk about?"

"It truly seems you are a dragon. I can feel nothing from you, and that is not the appearance of a human. Simply amazing... for a dragon to have magic powerful enough to turn into a human..."

Gandalf spoke as he looked at me. I don't know what he was misunderstanding, but let's just go with it.

"Well, after a long time of research, it becomes possible."

"But why have you come here? Don't dragons serve Morgoth?"

"Not all of us submitted to Morgoth. And as I said, I was elsewhere and simply came here because I was bored."

To briefly explain Morgoth, he was one of the Ainur, angel-like beings created by the Creator God, but he became the source of all evil in the Lord of the Rings universe. Even the famous Sauron was once Morgoth's subordinate. You can think of him as the Lucifer of Lord of the Rings. Fortunately, he was defeated long ago during the War of Wrath and imprisoned in the Timeless Void (Legendarium), but his followers still existed even after all this time.

"I see. I hope you will remain quiet in the future."

This guy Gandalf, I treated him to tea and he starts with these unpleasant threats.

"Are you threatening me now? If I choose not to, do you think you can stop me?"

I spoke in an annoyed tone and applied a bit of gravity pressure. Sensing things were going south, Gandalf broke out in a cold sweat.

"Ugh! Ca-Calm down! We didn't come here to fight."

I released the gravity and warned him.

"Do not test my patience! I am treating you as guests, but you are not reciprocating. It would be wise to be careful."

"Ahem... We shall return another time."

In the end, they left without gaining anything. After that, no one came to the tower. Since it was so boring, I went to a nearby human village for a drink and heard that the tower I lived in was being called the Dragon's Tower and had been declared off-limits.

"Geez... I did tell them not to bother me, but this is way too boring..."

I decided to take this chance to rest properly and spent my days lounging in bed and playing the games I had brought along.

When about two years had passed since I arrived here, I was so bored that I decided to go on a trip, packing some supplies onto the robotic horse I had made in the MCU. Since someone might break in while I was away, I put the entire house into my inventory and replaced it with a granite model that looked exactly like the original. I then hung a 'Traveling' sign on the door.

I let the horses I had received from the Elves go free. Since they were well-trained, they would likely return to the Elves on their own.

First, I decided to visit the 'Shire' where the Hobbits live. Since the horse I made never got tired or hungry and was equipped with artificial intelligence, it traveled well on its own without needing a bond. I stopped by some human villages along the way, but I only looked around briefly.

As I'd felt before, people in this world didn't wash much, just like in 'Pirates of the Caribbean,' and the streets were overflowing with filth, so I didn't want to stay for long. At least the Elves kept themselves clean. I wasn't sure about the Dwarves or Hobbits.

"It's a shame I can't enjoy the food because the hygiene is such a mess. Is this what it feels like to visit India..."

Coming to a fantasy world also meant dealing with insects. At night, all sorts of bugs would crawl in, but luckily I had [Barrier], so I could solve those problems. Still, it wasn't all bad. The scenery was magnificent, the air was incredibly fresh, and the stars at night were so clear and beautiful. It was quite romantic.

Anyway, I passed through Bree and entered Hobbiton, where the Hobbits lived.
