In a pitch-black room, Mokuba was leaning against the wall, thinking about how to escape.
*Rattle*
However, the chains tied to his feet were making things really hard.
As a qualified inheritor of the Kaiba Corp, he had taken anti-kidnapping lessons with Kaiba before; unfortunately, at the time, he had thought such a thing was impossible, so he had not paid attention to the lesson.
If it was Seto trapped here instead of him, he would have escaped long ago. This was Mokuba's unwavering belief in his big brother.
The last time he ran away, he should have tried to leave the island instead of trying to find Yugi and win back his brother's honour. The sad thing was, there was no medicine for regret in the world, so he could only sit here honestly and wait for rescue. After all, after the last escapade, Pegasus had increased the security around Mokuba's 'room'. So even if he found a way to lockpick the chains, he still would not be able to escape.
In his despair, Mokuba opened the locket around his neck; inside was a photo of him and Seto from when they were children.
"Seto... you will definitely save me... right?" Mokuba murmured to himself as he protected the last shred of hope in his heart.
The guy standing guard outside the cell, Passerby A, who was dressed in the classic goon get-up, a pair of sunglasses and a suit, turned back to see what was going on after hearing Mokuba's murmur, afraid that he would escape once again. He still needed to pay the mortgage on his house, and he was planning on getting married next year, so he did not want to be fired for a minor mistake.
After all, no matter how much of a villain Pegasus was, he was actually quite a decent boss. He even included a life insurance policy in their salary, and their pay was above industry standards. How could a person hate such a generous boss? So what if he was a little evil and perverted? It certainly had nothing to do with him, Passerby A.
Unfortunately, this diligence was actually the biggest mistake in his life.
Because as soon as he turned around, Kaiba, who had already infiltrated the castle and hanging on the ceiling, seized the opportunity when Passerby A turned around and landed on top of him accurately, delivering a hand chop to his neck, instantly knocking him out.
"Mokuba!" After knocking out the guard, Kaiba anxiously gripped the cold prison bars and called out to his little brother.
Hearing the voice of his brother, Mokuba thought he was hallucinating for a second, but when he lifted his head, he saw Seto looking at him worriedly.
"Seto!"
Mokuba shouted and got up from the ground to reach the bars.
"I knew you would come to save me, brother! I never doubted it for even a second! I didn't give the key you handed me to anyone else; I successfully protected the Kaiba Corp!" Mokuba said proudly, and he had a 'praise me! praise me!' expression on his face.
Seeing that, Kaiba could not help but smile to himself and then said, "Hold on, I will save you now, Mokuba!"
*Clap* *Clap* *Clap*
"Who's there!?" startled by the sudden noise Kaiba instantly turned back and adopted a defensive stance.
"What a touching family reunion, truly. I was so moved that I almost cried..." Pegasus said as he slowly crept out from the shadows.
"Pegasus!" seeing Pegasus, Kaiba was instantly enraged! All the misfortune he was suffering now was because of this evil villain. It was because of him that his brother had suffered, it was because of him that he had seen his precious Blue-Eyes get humiliated, and it was also because of him that he had duelled against Yutaka Minami and got humiliated in the process!
"Ugh, and here I was sincerely blessing your reunion, but your attitude, Kaibaboy~, leaves much to be desired." Pegasus sneered as he looked at Kaiba, who looked like he was ready to throw hands in the next second. Ugh, such a savage, so uncouth. If not for his precious brain, Pegasus would have turned him into a card long ago.
"Pegasus, you sinister villain!" Mokuba shouted behind the bars, giving Pegasus the opportunity he was waiting for.
"SHUT UP!" Pegasus' expression turned sinister, and as he turned to look at Mokuba, his hair parted, revealing the eerily glowing Millennium Eye hiding behind.
A yellowish-black light shot out of the eye and enveloped Mokuba, who soon passed out and fell to the ground weakly.
"What did you do, Pegasus!?" Kaiba screamed with impotent rage. His precious little brother was attacked in front of him, and he was powerless to do anything.
"Don't be so impatient now, Kaibaboy~" Pegasus said after returning to his normal nonchalant expression, further irritating Kaiba in the process.
Seeing that Kaiba was about to blow up, Pegasus did not keep him in the dark for much longer and slowly explained, "You see, Kaibaboy~, I merely sealed the soul of your brother into this card, lest you do something stupid and impulsive." Pegasus said this while shaking the card in his hand. Looking at the card, Kaiba could see a picture that looked similar to Mokuba.
As a firm believer in science, Kaiba refused to accept that someone could imprison souls, but here was the problem. Should he risk it? If it was his own soul on the line, Kaiba would not take Pegasus for even a second. But it was Mokuba's soul that was in danger.
So for his beliefs, he could not risk Mokuba's soul.
"If it is any consolation, you are not alone in your predicament. I have also sealed the soul of Yugi Muto's Grandfather, Solomon Muto's soul, into another card. How touching, isn't it? Two destined rivals, brought together by their shared misfortune. Hohohoho," Pegasus continued speaking as he laughed like a maniac.
Kaiba clenched his fists in anger but soon unclenched them in a resigned manner.
He could not risk anything happening to Mokuba.
But he swore that he would find a way to expose Pegasus' tricks and find a way to save Mokuba from whatever ailment he was suffering from.
"What do you want?" Kaiba spewed these words resignedly.
"I like dealing with smart people, Kaibaboy~, what I want is you! Or specifically, your genius brain along with the Kaiba Corp in your possession. In exchange I will let Mokuba go. However, I can see that you are unresigned. So we will play a little game. I will allow you to challenge me to a duel, and if you win, both you and Mokuba will be set free." Hearing that, Kaiba instantly reached for his briefcase, ready to bring out his new and improved Duel Disk.
"Let's go Pegasus!" Kaiba said as he looked at Pegasus with venomous eyes, ready to devour him and not even leave any bones behind. Who did this Pegasus think he was? How could he even dare to imagine defeating him, Seto Kaiba!
However, Pegasus was unhurried and just shook his fingers.
"Not so fast, Kaibaboy~; this duel will follow the rules of Duellist Kingdom. So to have a right to challenge me, you need to gather 10 Star Chips. Unfortunately, you arrived a day late, so I will be sponsoring you with 5 Star Chips. Using these chips, I want you to defeat Yugi Muto and gather the remaining five. Once you have gathered your star chips, we can have a duel with everything I mentioned on the line."
Looking at the star chips that Pegasus threw to the ground, Kaiba did not know what expression to make. He wanted to rage and scream at Pegasus, but Mokuba's safety was paramount. He could also take this opportunity to have his revenge against Yugi and then defeat Pegasus!
"Pegasus! You will regret this!" declared Kaiba as he kneeled down and collected the chips. Afterwards, he left the dungeon the way he came.
"I will be waiting, Kaibaboy~" Pegasus said with a kind expression on his face. However, once Kaiba was out of sight, his expression became serious.
"Who was the one standing guard just now?" Pegasus asked his attendant.
"It was Passerby A, sir." The attendant replied dutifully.
"Fire him! I do not need such incompetent people working under me." Pegasus said as he left without even looking at the passed-out goon.
