Chapter 3 - I will treat him like a friend

The next few days passed, and Maria found herself thinking about Alexandre more often than she expected. She wondered what he was up to, and if she would ever run into him again.

At work, Maria was busy with a new project, and her friends were asking her to hang out, but she couldn't shake off the feeling that something was missing. She couldn't help but feel a spark of excitement whenever she thought about Alexandre, and she wasn't sure what to make of it.

As she was walking home from work one evening, Maria heard a voice behind her. "Hey, Maria!"

She turned to see Alexandre walking towards her, a smile on his face. "Hi," he said, looking a bit sheepish. "I saw you walking and thought I'd say hello."

Maria's heart skipped a beat as she smiled back at him. "Hi," she said, feeling a bit shy.

They stood there for a moment, looking at each other, before Alexandre spoke up. "I was thinking, maybe you'd like to grab coffee with me sometime?" he asked, his eyes hopeful.

Maria's heart fluttered, and she felt a rush of excitement. She smiled, trying to play it cool. "I'd like that," she said.

As Maria and Alexandre stood there, chatting, he casually mentioned, "I've been meaning to try out the new coffee shop on the other side of town. Have you been there?"

Maria shook her head, intrigued by his question. "No, I haven't. But I've heard it's nice."

Alexandre nodded, his eyes lighting up. "Yeah, I think you'll like it. Would you like to try it out with me?"

Maria hesitated for a moment, feeling a flutter in her chest. "I'd love to," she said, trying to sound casual.

As they walked to the coffee shop, Alexandre's phone rang, and he answered it, his voice confident and authoritative. "Hello? Yeah, I'm on my way. Tell the team to get the cars ready."

Maria's ears perked up, and she looked at Alexandre with curiosity. "Car racing?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Alexandre smiled, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "Yeah, I'm a bit of a petrolhead," he said, chuckling.

Maria's eyes widened, and she felt a rush of excitement. She had always loved cars, and the thrill of racing.

As they sipped their coffee, Alexandre's phone rang again, and this time, Maria caught a glimpse of his screen. It read, "Daddy".

Alexandre's expression changed, and he quickly excused himself, answering the call.

Maria's curiosity was piqued, and she wondered who Alexandre really was...

As Alexandre answered the phone, his expression changed, and he quickly excused himself. "Sorry, I have to take this," he said, getting up from the table.

Maria nodded, sipping her coffee, her curiosity piqued. She couldn't help but wonder who was on the other end of the line, and what kind of influence Alexandre had.

As he walked out of the coffee shop, Maria's eyes followed him, taking in the confident stride and the way he carried himself. She felt a flutter in her chest, and she wasn't sure what to make of it.

A few minutes later, Alexandre returned, his expression apologetic. "Sorry about that," he said, sitting back down. "My...father, he likes to check in on me."

Maria nodded, intrigued. "No problem," she said, smiling. "I understand."

The conversation flowed easily after that, and they talked about everything from cars to music to their favorite books. Maria found herself laughing and feeling at ease with Alexandre, and she couldn't believe how much they had in common.

As the afternoon wore on, Alexandre glanced at his watch and sighed. "I should get going," he said, his eyes sparkling with reluctance. "I have a...commitment tonight."

Maria nodded, feeling a pang of disappointment. "Okay, I understand," she said, smiling.

As Alexandre said, "I'd like to see you again," Maria smiled, feeling a spark of excitement. "I'd like that," she said, trying to sound casual.

Alexandre nodded, his eyes cling at the corners. "Great, I'll walk you home," he said, standing up.

Maria nodded, and they walked out of the coffee shop together, enjoying the evening air. As they stood outside her apartment building, Alexandre smiled. "I'll text you soon," he said, his voice low.

Maria nodded, smiling back. "Looking forward to it," she said, before turning to go inside.

Alexandre watched her go, a small smile on his face, before turning and walking away...

Alexandre walked away from Maria's apartment building, feeling a sense of excitement and anticipation. He couldn't stop thinking about her smile, her laugh, and the way she made him feel. He pulled out his phone and sent her a quick text: "Just got home safely. Can't stop thinking about you."

He waited for a few minutes, his eyes fixed on the screen, willing her to respond. Finally, his phone buzzed with a message: "Same here. Can't wait to hear from you again."

Alexandre smiled, feeling a sense of satisfaction. He typed out a response: "How about we grab dinner tomorrow night? My treat."

He waited for her response, his heart beating slightly faster than usual. A few minutes later, his phone buzzed again: "I'd love to. Where did you have in mind?"

Alexandre's smile grew wider. He was definitely interested in seeing where this went. "How about that Italian place on 5th Street? 7 pm tomorrow?"

The response came back almost immediately: "Perfect. See you then."

Alexandre couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement as he typed out a final message: "Looking forward to it."

He put his phone away and lay back on his bed, a smile still plastered on his face. He couldn't wait to see Maria again. while Maria was backing her door holding the phone to her chest wondering why her heart rate is beating fast and butterflies moving in her Tommy. is she in love? this is too fast, what if he never like me but only see me as a friend. no, i will hide it and treat him like a friend.
