Max walked on the nicely trimmed grass. His goal was the admission office, then the orientation class. The atmosphere was good, or very good. A few girls would look his way, which felt a bit nice, considering all his life he was basically ignored.
" Wow, it's massive "
Max uttered as he entered through the first building. The ceiling inside the building was very high. The white interior with glass on top reminded him of his hometown, Regensburg, Germany's largest well-preserved medieval town, so he had to stop by the marble corridor to stare at it.
" That's what she said "
A female voice sounded just beside him. She said something weird, which made Max confused a bit, so he turned to look at her. The girl was similar to his age, had long brunette hair with pink tips, and a beautiful face with a cute mole just beside her lips.
" I don't understand, who said what? "
" It's a joke in my country. I am from America. Although it sounded weird when I said it in German, when you said 'It's massive,' I had to say 'That's what she said.' Sorry, I am Olivia. You're not much of a talker, are you? "
Olivia extended her hands toward Max, but he just stared at her. He was weirded out by how friendly and talkative she was. Even Machina didn't talk this much, and she was almost as bold as Machina with her clothes.
" Hello? "
" I am Maximilian. I was just searching for the admission room, or wherever they are taking information for the new students "
After she waved at his face, he had to extend his hand in response. He ignored her weird way of joking with words, asked what he needed currently, and she was too friendly, so it was easier to talk with her.
" Yeah, actually, I just came from there. Follow me. So which department are you in? "
" Human Medicine… "
" I am in Physics. You're quite handsome, wanna be my friend? You're German, right? "
" Y… yeah "
" You're my first ever German friend in real life. I had a lot in Fortnite "
" What night? "
Max was intrigued by how different she was. He understood that both of them had different cultures in just the few sentences they had exchanged so far. She walked ahead, and he followed her into the university campus.
" Here, go inside and give your info. I will wait here for you "
Olivia stood outside room no. 203. She nodded her head confidently and stood like she owned the place. Max noticed a note on the door: 'Admission Applicants Only, No Friends Allowed'.
" You don't need to wait for me. You can go about what you were doing "
" Go inside. I will wait here for you, then we can go to the orientation together "
She nodded her head like she was a longtime friend of his. Max noticed she was a little pushy but harmless, so he just nodded his head and entered the room. Inside, there were a few employees but no students.
" Which department? Mail and ID no. "
" Medicine, 326724 "
As soon as he entered, they asked what they needed. Max preferred this straightforward type of conversation the most. Maybe he was just too German.

Max got a new mail from the university after officially enrolling, which said they would send him everything related to the university, like how they sent him the class schedule first so that he could understand he had class in about two days. They also asked about his laptop, so he needed a laptop ASAP.
As he got out of the admission room after finishing every required procedure, he saw Olivia was in fact waiting just outside, and she wore a smile on her face. Max smiled when he saw her.
It's going to be a long day with her.
" Come on, let's go. I got a text from my friend. The orientation has already started "
She grabbed his hand and ran ahead. Max had to pick up his pace to keep up with her, but soon realized she was not that fast, or maybe his body was just too fast.
Soon they reached a road with a tram, but she didn't care about the small train. She just ran forward with all her might. Max, seeing the train was slow, didn't mind it either, and soon reached an open space where many students were looking at two teachers.
" Shit, this is the Physics orientation program. You go that way. You see that huge building? That's the auditorium. That's for doctor students like you. Go, go "
Reaching the open space, she panicked a little and pushed Max toward another building. She even gestured for him to run. Max just smiled and, shaking his head, walked with long strides. He felt like he had met a nicely weird person.
The auditorium he entered was very big. When he entered, the class was already in the middle of something. He sat on the last bench, but had to walk quite a long way because the number of students was very small compared to the huge auditorium.
He had to sit quietly and listen to the teacher, and they explained about career options, then how their huge alumni network would help out in real life when everyone graduates.
" Charity works are done by us too. We send our last-year students to Africa if you volunteer, accompanied by practicing doctors, to give back to society. Remember, a doctor is a profession of helping others, not ourselves by being selfish "
With that, the three-hour orientation ended. Max stood up, and like others, he also had to stretch his limbs. The orientation became boring halfway through when students went up to introduce themselves voluntarily on stage. Max felt awkward, so he didn't do it.
" Hey, what's your name? Saw you entered last "
" Yeah, I was a little late. Maximilian "
" Nice to meet you. My name is Finn. Wanna grab a coffee together? We are going to be classmates for a long time "
" S… sure "
Max nodded his head and walked out with Finn, who was surprisingly friendly for a German dude. As he walked out while talking with his new male classmate, he saw Olivia standing just outside. She was with another person.
As soon as Olivia saw Max, she elbowed her bestie, who was looking elsewhere, and after getting elbowed, she looked where Olivia was looking.
" Told you he was a catch "
" Damn! Girl, he's a cutie. I might keep him "
" Don't you dare "
Seeing Olivia, Max smiled and walked toward her, but his eyes stared at her friend for a second too long. The girl beside Olivia was light-skinned and had curly hair. She looked extremely pretty, so Max had to look her way for a second longer.
" She your friend? "
" Y… yeah… met her today "
Finn was not as tall as him, but seeing girls did make him excited. He talked with Max because Max was buffed, almost jacked. Usually it didn't show, but he was seated just beside Max, and when Max sat down, he had seen how big and muscled those thighs were. He was just afraid of getting bullied.
" Olivia… we meet again "
" Maximili? I'll call you Max. Your name is too hard for me to pronounce. This is my friend Maya "
Olivia smiled and eagerly introduced her friend to Max, while ignoring Finn, who was most eager. Max extended his hand toward Maya. She looked aloof somewhat, but did give her hand in response.
" Maximilian, you can call me Max "
" Maya Washington. Maya for friends "
