The cave fell silent.
All eyes were fixed on Mu Qiu.
"Fire!"
The bald man narrowed his eyes at him. He didn't understand Mu Qiu's words, but the tone annoyed him—and when he was annoyed, someone had to suffer.
At his command, the entire cave erupted.
Dozens of machine guns spat a torrent of steel, enough firepower to turn a human into vaporized confetti.
"Wow… what a hothead."
Mu Qiu casually grabbed Tony and Yinsen by their collars and pulled them behind him.
Then, smiling, he stepped forward—
—and opened his mouth to bite the bullets.
Because besides being a chef, he was a Gourmet Hunter.
In the world of Toriko, Gourmet Hunters were beings who housed Gourmet Cells and Gourmet Demons within them, granting inhuman abilities.
Mu Qiu was one of them.
Within him slept the Gluttonous Demon King—
Beelzebub.
Food Skill: Gluttonous Maw.
Mu Qiu's body connected with the demon inside him, summoning the vast, illusory jaws of the Gluttonous King.
A gigantic transparent maw manifested behind him, expanding wide and swallowing every incoming bullet whole.
Then—
Plague Breath.
A yellow-green mist seeped from Mu Qiu's lips, composed of countless virulent bacteria and microscopic monsters. It rolled forward like a tide, swallowing the cave entrance.
Before the armed men could even understand what they were seeing, the gas washed over them.
Unease.
Pressure.
Panic.
Chest tightness.
Breathing failure.
Within seconds, everyone except Mu Qiu, Tony, and Yinsen collapsed.
Their skin festered, their breathing grew faint—they looked like corpses waiting for the final breath to leave their bodies.
The lethality of Plague Breath was undeniable.
Tony and Yinsen were frozen, staring at the horrific scene, their mouths hanging open, unable to speak.
Seriously—
What the hell was that?!
You wiped out dozens of people in seconds!
And in such a disgusting way—are you trying to make me puke?!
Wait…
That food I just ate—was it poisoned too?!
Tony's mind spiraled into chaos. His expression shifted between shock, disgust, nausea, and worry.
Beside him, Yinsen silently made the sign of the cross, completely unaware of Tony's mental breakdown.
If he had known, he would probably sigh and say, "Geniuses really are unique."
Mu Qiu, of course, had no idea what Tony was imagining—and even if he did, he wouldn't care.
Humans under stress often fixate on irrelevant thoughts to cope.
Tony and Yinsen were no exception.
But their reactions weren't important.
The enemies were.
From the mosquito's earlier surveillance, Mu Qiu knew this wasn't everyone.
At least three to four times this number waited outside handling the heavy weapons.
"Call Rhode and tell him the situation. I'll take care of the rest outside."
"O-okay!"
"Hurry."
Mu Qiu waved as he stepped out of the cave—both acknowledging Tony and urging him to move faster.
He didn't want to return after clearing the enemies only to find Tony still dialing.
Outside the Cave
The desert sun blazed overhead, turning the valley into a steaming cauldron.
Armed men lay in ambush everywhere, fingers tight on triggers, guns aimed at the cave.
After seeing the surveillance video, no one dared be careless.
The boss had been very clear: if anything happened, shoot first until nothing moved.
Now that the gunfire inside had stopped, tension ran even higher.
Hands tightened around gunstocks.
Chapped lips licked nervously.
The only comfort was the cold metal in their hands.
Under countless anxious stares, a tall, muscular figure slowly stepped out of the dark cave.
"Open fire!!"
The shout cracked the air like lightning.
Machine guns roared.
A storm of bullets surged forward like a colossal steel serpent, its tail whipping the valley apart.
Rockets screamed through the sky, fiery trails slicing across the heat-distorted air.
They plunged into the storm of bullets, detonating with earth-shattering force.
Flames erupted.
The mountain wall exploded, stone spraying like shrapnel.
The cave collapsed into rubble, swallowed by fire.
When the dust settled, the firing ceased.
The militants exhaled in relief.
After unleashing that kind of firepower, even a battle tank would be reduced to scrap.
A human?
Impossible to survive.
Cheers began to spread—
—but were instantly cut short.
A deep BOOM echoed.
The rubble burst apart as a figure shot upward, landing atop a boulder.
Mu Qiu.
His shirt had been vaporized, his pants reduced to shorts.
His skin was scorched, blistered, and bleeding.
The pain flashed across his face—
then twisted into fury.
"That actually hurt, you bastards!"
He stomped.
The boulder shattered beneath him.
In the next heartbeat, he vanished—
—and reappeared in front of a militant.
His hand clamped onto the man's head like an iron vice.
With a single motion, he flung the hundred-pound man like a pebble.
The body crashed through a dozen others, bowling them over before skidding ten meters across the sand.
"Fire! Fire! Shoot him!"
They scrambled to raise their guns again, bullets peppering Mu Qiu's burned skin, making the pain flare hotter.
His murderous aura surged.
"Gluttonous Maw!!"
He slammed both fists into the ground.
The massive illusory Demon-Maw erupted upward, swallowing Mu Qiu whole—
then released a silent, furious roar.
A terrifying suction force blasted outward.
Bullets.
Sand.
Rubble.
People.
Everything was yanked into the air, spiraling into a funnel and sucked straight into the colossal mouth.
Meanwhile, Behind the Rubble
Tony and Yinsen hid behind the only rock not on fire.
Tony held the phone, but he didn't get to say a single word.
On the other end, Rhode's rapid-fire shouting drowned everything out.
"Tony?! Are you alive?! Where are you?! … Stay put, I'm coming right now!"
"What's happening?! Why do I hear gunshots?! … Find cover! Don't move!"
"Speak up, damn it!! … Tony?! Tony!! Are you okay?! Answer me!!"
"…"
Tony stared at the phone, twitching.
You're asking twenty questions in three seconds—
Which one am I supposed to answer first?!
