Chapter 104 - Chapter 104: A Dark Embrace

Harry had rushed down with Dumbledore and McGonagall to the hospital ward where they discovered Y/n lying in a bed as Madam Pomfrey watched Professor Snape waving his wand slowly over Y/n who lay unconscious.

"Severus?" Dumbledore called his name in an inquiring way.

"I'm sorry Headmaster but I had to call for him, some the injuries are beyond what I can mend." Madam Pomfrey told him.

"I have managed to reverse any serious damage Grindelwald may have inflicted upon himself..." Snape said.

"Thank you Severus." Dumbledore said.

"If I might Headmaster..." Snape began. "Several scars that I had to remove were of a...dark nature."

"Surely not another attack?" McGonagall asked concerned.

"I do not believe so." Snape replied.

"Are you suggesting Severus, that young Grindelwald has been practicing the dark arts?" Dumbledore asked him.

"I am Headmaster." Snape confirmed.

"What on earth could persuade the boy to seek out the dark arts?" McGonagall was quick to ask.

"My Grandmother..." Y/n said signaling he was awake and the three professors heads turned to look at him.

"I highly doubt Frieda Grindelwald would have ever encouraged you to pursue dark magic, you foolish boy..." McGonagall said still in disbelief that Y/n had done such a stupid thing.

"She did not..." Y/n said looking down at the bed covers unable to face them. "Her death is what made me."

"Severus, Poppy, thank you for your work, you may return. Minerva, if I could ask you escort Harry back to his common room." Dumbledore instructed.

"Yes Headmaster, Come Along Potter." McGonagall said.

"But Sir..." Harry began.

"Come along Potter." McGonagall ordered him. "The Headmaster wishes to speak to Grindelwald, alone."

Harry did not want to leave but Dumbledore and McGonagall were giving him no choice.

"Go Harry, do as they say." Y/n told him. "And tell Hermione...Tell her, I am sorry..."

Harry looked conflicted but did as Y/n asked as he finally left with McGonagall and Snape following behind them. Y/n and Dumbledore were all alone now.

"Are you going to expel me professor?" Y/n quietly asked.

"You must understand Y/n, how this might look to others. You have been caught practicing dark magic and were present at the scene where Miss Bell was afflicted by Dark Magic. This makes you a prime suspect."

"I know sir..." Y/n said.

"Am I correct Grindelwald, in assuming that it was you who stole our recently missing books from the restricted section?" Dumbledore asked him.

Y/n just nodded. "Yes sir...I borrowed the cloak from Harry and entered the Library after closing hours."

"And where are the books now?" Dumbledore asked.

"In my bag sir, no one else knows I have them." Y/n replied. "Hermione, Harry and Ron did not have anything to do with this sir, so please, do not punish them for my failings..." Y/n then asked.

Dumbledore sighed as he looked down at Y/n sitting up in the hospital bed looking regretful. "You have always shown a deep dislike for the dark arts Y/n, why now do you choose to delve into them?"

Y/n looked up at Dumbledore now. "To protect my friends sir. They are all I have left now...I cannot lose them..."

Dumbledore just surveyed the boy for a moment taking in his words and emotions.

"The loss of Frieda Grindelwald has been a heavy one on you indeed. She was a loving grandmother to you, being the only real family you had, while also being an invaluable member of the Order...and a dear friend to the rest of us."

"Grandmother was always so strong Professor, and they killed her..." Y/n said talking about Frieda's death for the first time since it had happened. "My parents, when we dueled I could feel just how far off I had been, it was like dueling the young Voldemort again...being mocked and shown how weak I really was made me sacred." Y/n admitted. "Not scared to die though sir, rather scared that I would not be able to protect those who matter most to me if I was asked to."

Dumbledore did not reply for a good moment as he stared at Y/n, as if weighing up a number of options in his head. But then finally, he spoke.

"Come with me Grindelwald."

Y/n looked up at Dumbledore for the first time. "But would Madam Pomfrey not want me to stay here sir?" he asked.

"I dare say she would." Dumbledore agreed with this. "But as the headmaster there is somewhere I feel I must take you."

Y/n did not argue as he slowly got out of bed and grabbed his wand from a bedside table. While Professor Snape had fixed the damage Y/n had inflicted upon himself he still felt slightly groggy. He took a moment to adjust before he moved to stand in front of Dumbledore.

Dumbledore extended his good arm to Y/n. "Take my arm Y/n."

"We are apparating?" Y/n asked.

"Very good Grindelwald." Dumbledore said. "Yes, we will have to travel some distance so I ask that you hold on tightly."

Y/n took hold of Dumbledore's arm now and immediately he felt Dumbledore's arm begin to twist as he sucked along with it and everything went black, he was pressed very hard from all directions until he suddenly felt his feet connect with something hard and his vision cleared to show he and Dumbledore were standing atop a cliff outlooking the sea.

"Where are we sir?" Y/n asked looking around as he saw the sea crashing into the cliff rocks.

"This is Cornwall Y/n." Dumbledore told him.

"Why are we here sir?" Y/n asked not understanding the significance.

"We are here merely as what I believe Muggles refer to as a 'rest stop'. Our destination is much farther than one can travel in a single apparition you see." Dumbledore told him.

"I see sir, and where is it we are going?" Y/n continued.

"Somewhere people wish to forget exists." Was the only answer Dumbledore gave and Y/n felt slightly uncomfortable with this reply before he felt Dumbledore begin to apparate again.

They had to make several trips as Y/n was certain they travelled through what looked to be Europe, until finally, the two came to a stop outside a stone fortress at the edge of a mountain. It had a tower with a cone-shaped top, possibly being a watch-tower. There was a building connected to the tower, that was slim with windows. There was also a large courtyard, which was gated.

"Are we there sir?" Y/n asked feeling uncomfortable as he looked around.

"Yes...this is the place." Dumbledore said looking up to the large tower that stood tallest.

"What is it we will find here?" Y/n asked unconsciously drawing his wand feeling unnerved by their new location, It felt like he knew what this place was but that his mind wanted to deny its existence.

"Tonight Y/n, I have brought you to Nurmengrad." Dumbledore answered.

Y/n's blood immediately ran cold as he quickly turned to Dumbledore, "Why have you brought me here of all places!?" Y/n asked angrily.

"To show you what you will become if you continue to go down this path of dark magic." Dumbledore answered Y/n's question, but to Y/n he looked apprehensive about his own decision. "I must ask that you hand me your wand for now and follow my instructions Y/n." Dumbledore implored.

Y/n didn't like being here at all, anger began to build up within him as he thought of the one he knew to be held within this castle's walls. But Dumbledore was making a request of him and Y/n knew he was not in a position to deny the man right now. Reluctantly Y/n handed over his wand.

"Thank you Y/n." Dumbledore said as he examined Y/n's wand with curiosity before speaking again. "I must warn you Y/n, that even wandless he is still dangerous."

Y/n just nodded unsure what to think as Dumbledore waved his own wand and both he and Y/n were allowed to enter the courtyard of Nurmengrad now.

In silence, they walked as Y/n surveyed the area, this had once been his Great Uncle's fortress, now it was his prison, and one day he hoped would be Gellert's tomb. The two entered inside and Dumbledore led Y/n to a spiraling staircase that went up a tower.

"Climb to the highest tower. That is where he resides." Dumbledore instructed Y/n.

"Are you not coming with me Professor?" Y/n asked not really wanting to go on his own.

"I'm afraid...I cannot join you Y/n." Dumbledore told him. "This old man needs to rest."

Y/n wasn't quite sure he believed this but when he saw the look on Dumbledore's face he decided not to question him.

Y/n instead looked at the staircase. He swallowed and slowly started to ascend. It took him several quiet minutes to reach the top but when he finally did he was met by a large wooden door with a door ring for a handle.

Y/n felt that surely it would need the highest of magics to open, but Dumbledore had taken his wand. There was only one-way Y/n could open the door. So carefully he reached out and twisted the handle and pushed.

The door creaked loudly on its hinges as it slowly opened and Y/n could see a cell with a small window, too narrow for a man to leave or enter, a hard bed, and a thin blanket.

"It is unlocked?" Y/n quietly said to himself surprised.

"It has always been unlocked." a voice said and Y/n's attention was immediately grabbed as he looked inside to the only figure within the room. "There is just no reason to leave anymore."

"You...you are Gellert Grindelwald..." Y/n said standing across from a man he had vowed never to meet.

Time and imprisonment had changed Gellert, he was now a frail, old man with his skeletal form and the shape of skull being very noticeable. He had sunken eyes, wrinkled cheeks and the majority of his teeth had fallen out.

"And you, you are a Grindelwald." Gellert replied with a small grin. "I can see it in your eye."

Y/n entered the cell and made sure to close the door behind him but both he and Gellert never took their eyes off one another.

"I am Y/n Grindelwald, Grandson of your sister Frieda Grindelwald." Y/n announced himself.

"Frieda?" Gellert said. "Did she send you to visit me?"

"No, Dumbledore brought me here." Y/n replied.

"Dumbledore? He is here?" Gellert asked a small spark seemingly ignited within him.

"He is down below, I think he refuses to come up." Y/n told Gellert.

"I did not expect him to." Gellert replied. "He has not visited me once since he imprisoned me here all those years ago." Gellert said as he sat down on his hard bed.

"Can you blame him?" Y/n asked angrily. "Why would anyone visit you after all that you did? You destroyed lives all just for your cause!"

Gellert looked up at the boy "All I wanted was to create a world where wizards were free to live openly."

"While pushing Muggles down in the process." Y/n countered. "Do not try to ensnare me with one of your famous speeches for it will fall upon deaf ears."

Gellert just smiled. "In defeat I learned the weight of the actions I took, I still believe I was right in what I wanted, but perhaps the actions I took to try to achieve it are where I failed. In the end I lost...so what I think does not matter anymore."

"The love of my life is a Muggle-born, does that disgust you?" Y/n asked him.

"It does not." Gellert replied surprising Y/n ever so slightly. "Contrary to what you might believe, I never hated the Muggles. I just thought of them as lesser, arrogant and power hungry. I always wondered how long it would be before they turned their weapons on us."

"And yet they did not." Y/n said. "Even 50 years after your defeat they have not turned against us, not even when their own are being killed by ours. By Voldemort and his followers, not the first time around and not now with his return."

"Tom is a foolish boy." Gellert laughed calling Voldemort by his true name. "I have heard of his deeds and his misguided followers. Powerful yes, but foolish. I think his arrogance and disregard for things he does not understand will lead to his downfall one day."

"I can only hope." Y/n said bitterly.

"Why did Dumbledore bring you to me?" Gellert asked now.

"Because I was caught using Dark Magic." Y/n answered.

"Is that so." Gellert replied as if he sounded mildly intrigued by this response. "For what purpose did you learn it, perhaps to lead a revolution of your own? I think not, given how you chastise me for my past actions I think it more likely you are afraid of someone or something."

"I sought to protect those who matter most to me." Y/n told him.

"As you should." Gellert said catching Y/n off guard. "We should always protect the ones we love Y/n."

"I have already failed to do that." Y/n said thinking of his grandmother.

"You are still young with much left to learn." Grindelwald commented. "If a sixteen-year-old boy could take on the world alone then I or even Tom would have succeeded in our tasks long ago."

"How did you know I am..."

"How do I know your age?" Grindelwald asked. "I know who you are Y/n, Frieda comes to visit me and speaks of you often..." Gellert said amused. "I have never seen my dear sister so impressed with someone your age before. She's certainly told me all about you over the years, an animagus, conqueror of Dragons, a dueller of Tom and an intelligent boy, yes...I know all about you."

Y/n didn't realize his Grandmother had been visiting Gellert all these years.

"It has been some time since Frieda last visited me, how is she?" Gellert asked and Y/n could only look to the floor.

"Grandmother is gone..." Y/n answered.

"...Frieda is dead?" Gellert asked as his voice showed a small slimmer of emotion. He got up from his bed and moved to look out tiny window. "Frieda was a dear sister to me, she visited when no other would...tell me, how did she die?"

"She was murdered by her own flesh and blood, my parents Ivan and Priscilla Grindelwald." Y/n revealed to him.

Gellert did not move nor did his gaze change as he started out of the window.

Y/n said nothing as he let the man grieve for his lost sister, while he still did not like Gellert they were united in their sadness of Frieda's death and their hatred of Y/n's parents.

"I know the spell you should seek to protect those close to you." Gellert spoke again now and Y/n looked to him. "Protego Diabollica."

Y/n's mouth opened in shock, he had heard of this spell when he read of Gellert's attack on Paris in the 1920's. "But that spell...it is extremely dark magic." Y/n mused.

"A spell is just a spell, it's how we use it that defines its nature." Gellert said and for once Y/n worried that he actually agreed with his great uncle about this. "While Protego Diabollica is a dangerous spell, it will only ever target those who you wish it to and those who would do you ill will, it will never hurt those who are loyal to you."

"Even if I wanted to learn the spell nobody but you knows how to perform it." Y/n said.

"It is unique to me." Gellert said with a small hint of pride. "But I offer to you the secret so that you may protect those you care about, and might bring about the downfall of those who killed my dear Frieda. Now, watch my hand and wrist."

Y/n did as he was told as he memorized Gellert's hand and wrist movement then repeated it in front of him.

"Very good, you are quick learner, you already have the wand work down, the incantation you know, now what you need is practice. Protego Diabollica is not an easy spell to learn even for a talented wizard like yourself. It will take some time to achieve. But now it is time for you leave this old man to grieve alone." Gellert said indicating they had no more to discuss. "I am glad we could meet this once, but I feel we shall not again."

"I do not intend to return here." Y/n agreed.

"Goodbye Y/n Grindelwald." Gellert said.

"...Goodbye Gellert Grindelwald." Y/n bade him back.

Y/n was walking with Dumbledore as the two left the courtyard of Numengrad.

"He was nothing like I expected him to be..." Y/n started.

"And how would you describe him?"Dumbledore asked.

"I suppose...remorseful is the word I would use, he just seemed to accept his loss." Y/n commented. "Maybe all the time he has spent in that tower has softened him."

"Perhaps..."Dumbledore said keeping his head and eyes forward. "With time our views on certain things change. But even if Gellert truly repents for his actions, it does not change the crimes he committed."

Y/n just nodded silently in agreement. "I told him about my grandmother passing." he then told Dumbledore. "He seemed deeply upset by it, even if he did not admit it."

"Yes, I expected he would be, Gellert was very fond of Frieda." Dumbledore replied. "She was the only person to visit him in all his decades of imprisonment, I suppose in a way we are now equals."

"What?" Y/n asked confused.

"There is another matter to discuss Mr Grindelwald. "Dumbledore changed the topic as the two came to a stop. "The matter of your expulsion..."

Y/n's blood ran cold. The meeting with Gellert had temporarily made him forget about this. "I have no excuses sir." Y/n lowered his head. "The actions I took were all done alone and without telling another, so I should be punished responsibly."

Dumbledore surveyed Y/n in great detail for a few moments as he deliberated on his decision. "For stealing books from the restricted section, you will serve detention with Professor McGonagall for a month."

"I..." Y/n began to stutter as he raised his head. "You mean to say...I am not being expelled?"

"Not today, Mr Grindelwald. But I must say you are very lucky the damage you caused to yourself was not permanent, then the decision would have been out of my hands." Dumbledore told him.

"I do not understand sir...why are you letting me stay?" Y/n asked.

Dumbledore turned his view to look at the tall tower behind them in the distance. "A long time ago there was a boy your age who was caught using dark magic on other students and expelled from his school for it. He would later go on to form a large following as he threw the wizarding world into uncertain times."

"Gellert." Y/n said.

"You have certainly made a foolish mistake Y/n." Dumbledore told him. "But you did not harm another and you only did so with the desire to protect others after suffering a great loss. If I were to let you leave Hogwarts alone I worry as to where you could end up, especially in these dark times. The matter of you practicing Dark Magic will be forgotten this once by myself, Madam Pomfrey, and Professors Snape and McGonagall, on the condition you never attempt something like this again."

"No sir." Y/n shook his head.

"Then, you will only be punished for taking the books 'with the view of furthering your education.'" Dumbledore suggested.

"Yes sir..." Y/n replied gratefully but suddenly he felt Dumbledore's hand on his shoulder.

"We are all entitled to make mistakes Y/n. As long as we learn from them." Dumbledore told him.

"Sir..." Y/n began to ask as something else came to his mind. "Why did you have Professor Snape teach me Occlumency?" He asked.

"To prepare you." Dumbledore said.

"To prepare me?" Y/n repeated.

"I correctly guessed the possibility you would one day duel your parents. Giving you a way to protect your mind was the best I could do given the time and situation we were in." Dumbledore explained.

Y/n just nodded.

"And now let us return to Hogwarts." Dumbledore finally said.

Y/n had returned to Hogwarts now and was being escorted through the corridors by Professor McGonagall as they made their way toward the Gryffindor common room.

"I should hope you realise how lucky you are Grindelwald." She told him. "Not many students would be forgiven for such a serious action taken by yourself."

"I do Professor." Y/n told her as they reached the Fat Lady's portrait. "And I accept my punishment without complaint."

The corners of Professor McGonagall's mouth went tight for a moment before she spoke again. "You're a bright student Grindelwald, which is why I'm so disappointed in your actions tonight."

Y/n just looked down, he knew he deserved these words so he just nodded.

"You will report to my office for the first of your detentions." McGonagall then told him.

"Yes Professor." Y/n replied.

McGonagall spoke the password as the Fat Lady's portrait swung open and Y/n walked inside alone.

The fire was still roaring in the common room as two chairs were occupied by Harry and Ron, both sat looking grave. Pacing in front of them was the figure of Hermione who had both tear and fingernail marks on her face where she had been clutching it in fear.

Ever since Harry had come back and told the two what had happened Hermione had been in a state of distress while Ron couldn't believe it. They had not talked much after that as Harry only found out so much before being taken back to the Common Room.

The sound of the portrait opening soon got their attention and they could see the figure of Y/n entering through it.

Y/n stopped on the spot as he stared at the three looking at him.

"Hello..." Y/n said.

But Hermione very quickly stormed over to him and she delivered a sharp slap to his face.

Y/n just held his cheek which had very quickly turned a deep red. But he was given no reprieve as he felt Hermione begin to barrage his chest with her fists. "How could you be so stupid Y/n!" She shouted at him as tears spilled out and she began to sob the more she hit him.

Y/n let Hermione hit him a few more times before he engulfed his arms around her and held her tight to him.

"No amount of words can express how sorry I am for putting you through this." He told her. "I never wanted to hurt you and I was never doing this to hurt others."

He needed her to know he wasn't falling down a dark path.

He then looked up to Harry and Ron who were watching the two.

"I owe you all answers, I know. But tonight I only want to speak to Hermione." He said looking at them.

"You'll tell us, right mate?" Ron asked.

"First thing tomorrow at Breakfast, I promise." Y/n nodded.

Ron scratched the back of his head. "Come on Harry."

Harry looked conflicted, he wasn't sure he wanted to leave Y/n without finding out what had happened. But he slowly let Ron drag him up to the dorms as Y/n and Hermione were left alone.

"I am so sorry Hermione..." Y/n began to say now.

"Why did you do it Y/n?" Hermione asked him.

"Can we talk in the Room of Requirement?" Y/n asked her. "This way if you want to shout at me, you can."

"Alright..." Hermione said.

Y/n slowly let go of Hermione now as he offered out his hand to her. Hermione looked at it for a moment before she slowly took it. Silently Hermione walked with Y/n as they snuck out of the Common Room and to the seventh floor corridor where the Room of Requirement awaited them.

As Y/n and Hermione stepped inside the room, they looked to see it had taken on the appearance of a small study with two chairs that resembled the ones Y/n and Hermione would sit in back at her home.

Both looked to the chairs but neither moved to sit down.

"Perhaps...we should start with what happened a few months ago to cause all of this." Y/n suggested.

Hermione just gave a small nod.

"Back at the ministry..." Y/n started as for the first time he started to talk about what had taken place that day. "When you were out cold from Dolahov's curse. Only Harry, Luna, Neville and I were fully capable of fighting. Ron had been hit with some of jinx while Ginny had damaged her ankle. We were trying to secure a room when Luna was knocked out by The Death Eaters who quickly trapped us in that room, Bellatrix and my parents made their advancements. I, stayed behind to battle my parents while Harry led Bellatrix and other Death Eaters away with the prophecy."

Hermione had heard this part from Harry a few months ago but she remained quiet as Y/n continued.

"After Harry left I started to duel with Ivan and Prisicilla, the difference in power was...eye opening." Y/n admitted. "I fought them off the best I could but my lack of experience was telling. For me I was fighting with both my own life and the lives of you, Ron, Luna and Ginny on the line. To them, it was a mere show that they quickly grew bored of it, but when they moved to strike that is when my grandmother arrived. She managed to incapacitate them for long enough to separate us from them and I was tasked with getting you all to safety. That was the last time I ever saw her."

Y/n looked down at the floor. This was proving difficult even now, but he knew he had to keep talking.

"My Grandmother's death was a harsh reminder of the dangers we are going to face. She was always so powerful to me, yet for her to fall to my parents like that...it was terrifying. I felt so weak with my own inability to do anything to prevent it, Angry that they are still out there going unpunished for their many crimes... But most of all I am afraid Hermione..." Y/n says.

"We're all scared Y/n..."

"I am not scared of Dying." Y/n cut her off. "I am scared of losing you..."

Hermione just looked at him.

"You, Harry and Ron are all I have left Hermione." Y/n said sadly. "If I were to lose you all, I fear my life would be meaningless."

"Don't say something like that Y/n..." Hermione said hurt by hearing this is how felt.

"I am sorry, but this is truly how I feel, I want to be truly honest with you Hermione so you can understand why I was doing such a thing." Y/n told her as he turned to look at her. "I know that you have been trying to help me these past few months." He took her hands. "And for that you have my utmost love and devotion, many would have cast me and my problems to the wayside for being too difficult to deal with."

"I wanted to help you Y/n, but you wouldn't open up to me, to any of us. I have been worried about you this whole time. But I tried to give you space in case that's what you needed as well." Hermione told him her own feelings now.

"I... did not feel like any of you would understand how I felt..." Y/n admitted. "Both you and Ron have your families and Harry never had his parents, my grandmother had always been there for me...and then she was gone. Grief overtook me as I struggled to come to terms with her loss, at first the support from you all felt hollow even if I knew you all to be sincere. Then I began to worry about you and the others, In my despair I felt a desperate need to defend you all. To undertake a great learning of anything that would aid me whether it was normal or dark magic. In this quest I even stole books from the restricted section, I never sought dark magic to hurt another, only to protect what I was so afraid of losing."

Hermione just took Y/n's hands as he laid it all bare for her.

"But the more I practiced the more afraid and frustrated I became, I always felt like it was not enough. Tonight was a night like any other, I was using the room of requirement to practice, my judgment had been becoming unfocused and poor and I did not remain a safe distance when trying a new spell. I damaged myself greatly..."

He felt Hermione's hold on his hands tighten at these words.

"All I could do with the fragment of consciousness that remained was call out to Dobby, to let him call for help."

"Elf Magic?" Hermione asked and Y/n slowly nodded.

"He apparated to the room and found me as my mind slipped into darkness. When I awoke Harry and the Professors were standing around my bedside in the hospital. They were furious with me, and rightly so...but Dumbledore just questioned me calmly. Then he dismissed the others and we talked alone."

"What did you talk about?" Hermione asked him.

"He talked about my grandmother and that he understood how my loss felt, and then he took me to show me what I would become if I continued to pursue using Dark Magic." Y/n told her.

Hermione gasped and actually covered her mouth with one of her hands. "He didn't take you to Azkaban?"

Y/n shook his head.

"Somewhere a little further than that." Y/n said. "He took me to Austria, Nurmengrad." He told her.

"Nurmengrad?" Hermione said as the cogs in her brain whirred then clicked. "But that's home to..."

"My Grand Uncle Gellert Grindelwald, yes. Dumbledore took me to go meet him." Y/n nodded.

"And...and how did that go?" Hermione asked slightly awed.

"At first I felt angry, Dumbledore knew how much I hated Gellert, but I followed him knowing I was not in a position to argue. I met him alone and we talked, he recognized me as a Grindelwald straight away. I hate to admit it, but talking to him helped me. Showed me that even if I believed what I was doing was right, for the greater good, does not always mean that it is."

"And how do you feel now?" Hermione asked him.

"Like I am breathing fresh air after having my head under the water for so long." Y/n said with a deep sigh as he closed his eyes looking as if he had finished a long arduous task.

Hermione looked up at him as she felt a wave of relief crash into her, finally Y/n the boy she loved with all her heart was back. She was still angry at him, but she understood his actions had been taken out of fear and misjudgment rather than with a dark purpose in mind. She let go of his hands as he wrapped her arms around his torso instead.

Y/n slowly opened his eyes as he looked down at Hermione holding onto him and he smiled wrapping his own arms around her. Hermione looked up at him as their eyes met properly for the first time in months.

Both didn't need words to express what they wanted most, and together they leaned forward as their lips connected in a loving kiss. It was soft at first but months apart had quickly flared up as their kiss deepened into one of great longing.

Whether it was through overeagerness or tiredness from the night's ordeals the two quickly found themselves tripping as they fell to the room's floor.

Y/n felt something soft form on his back and head as he and Hermione were lifted up slightly from the floor.

Y/n looked up to see Hermione's eyes had widened as she looked down at him and he realized that it had been a bed that had materialized under them, a bed.

"No!" Y/n said quickly sitting up now. "I was not thinking about that at all Hermione...at least not intentionally." he was quick to say feeling as sleazy as McLaggen right now.

Hermione looked away now now looking very embarrassed. "W..We've never actually..."

"No...We...We have not..." Y/n said as neither could currently look at the other.

An awkward silence filled the room.

"We do not..." Y/n started

"Do you want..." Hermione began to ask.

Y/n and Hermione looked at each other again.

"What...what do we do?" Y/n asked her.

"I...don't know." Hermione said.

"I have always wanted to wait till you are ready before we progressed in our relationship." Y/n said now. "If you are not ready, then we do not have to do anything." He told her.

"We have known each other for a long time now." Hermione began. "In that time we have shared good times and some bad times too. We've gained lots of friends together but we've lost together too. I don't want to spend my life with anyone else Y/n... I'm ready for us to go further." She said but could not help but going extremely red as she said it. "I just am not sure if this would be the safest place, what if were caught?"

"Truthfully, we could not ask for a better place for privacy in all honesty." Y/n said looking around the room of requirement that seemed to growing warmer around the two. He noticed a fireplace had formed in the room, perhaps Hermione found them to be romantic he thought. "The room of Requirement's doors will not open to anyone if we do not wish them to. That was the mistake we made last year not desiring the room to be unopenable. But if you still have reservations then how about this, We can just see how far we go, If one of us gets uncomfortable we can stop." He suggests.

"Alright." Hermione nodded.

Both were not sure how to start so closed their eyes and began to kiss again, as they did Y/n began to relax, He moved his hands from his sides and placed them on Hermione's hips. She jilted at first but did not stop him. Deciding to try something new Y/n began to run the tip of his tongue over Hermione's bottom lip and to his surprise her lips parted as her tongue came to meet his own.

It was an odd feeling, but not one that Y/n did not enjoy. It seemed Hermione was enjoying it as well as she tried to fight for a little dominance but quickly yielded to Y/n. The two of them fell back together now as they lay on the bed but they did not break apart.
