These men were very aggressive.
They ended up tying my wings together with more rope once they realized that I was trying to break free.
My wings were starting to chafe, and I'm sure that my skin was beyond irritated at this point. The hike was long. The soles of my feet were cut and bruised from the harsh terrain. I wanted nothing more than to rest my bare aching feet.
I guess I wasn't walking fast enough for the inpatient men. The scariest one groaned in annoyance as he threw me over his shoulder. I whined in protest but was quickly silenced as he smacked my bum harshly.
I winced in pain and buried my face into his back. This was all very humiliating.
"Shut the noise up before I give you something to whine about." He snarled.
I acquainted myself with the man's strong shoulder. This was definitely better than walking anyway…
Eventually, the angry man lowered me from his shoulder as we approached a bridge.
I instantly observed my surroundings.
I've seen this bridge before.
I never dared to cross it because I assumed humans resided on this side of the forest.
On the other side of the bridge were 5 soldiers guarding the gate. 3 on the ground and 2 on two different towers. They haven't noticed us yet since we were standing in cover provided by some brush.
One of the men reached into his pack and pulled out a fleece blanket.
"Put this over her wings. People would have conniption if they saw her."
The man set me down- nodding while draping the blanket over my shoulders, concealing my wings.
He grabbed my arm tightly and began walking me towards the gate.
"What do we have here?" One of the guards questioned.
They were heavily armored and armed with guns I've never seen before.
"Just let us in Romeo, we have a prisoner for the King."
"Prisoner? You know your dragging along a little girl with you right?" He laughed. The other men laughed along with him.
"I hope you're not wasting the Kings time with bullshit. Your already late." He mentioned while signaling the other men on the tower to open the gate.
The heavy gate creaked open as we all walked through it.
I was instantly greeted with stares from the people who resided here. It seemed as though the entire community had gathered to see the new foreigner.
I kept my head down as I followed to where I was being taken. I was ready for this to all be over with. I whispered quiet prayers, hoping that their king was feeling merciful today.
Eventually we came towards a castle like building. I couldn't help but to admire it's beauty.
I noticed a few birds that flew across the very top of the building. I wanted nothing more than to join them in their flight.
As soon as I walked in, I realized that I had tracked muddy footprints all over the cold marble floors. 'Oops' I thought.
I finally mustered up the strength to say a few words.
"Where are we going?" My words were very quiet and horse. He responded with an attitude.
"You will be held in a cell until the King figures out what to do with you." He spoke with hatred in his voice.
I rolled my eyes. If anyone should have an attitude right now, it should be me. Just saying- They didn't have to trek 5 miles with their hands tied behind their back.
It seemed like people lived here. I saw a living room. We even passed an outrageously huge kitchen with a dining room. What monster keeps their prisoners in the same home they sleep in?
This place is huge. Maybe it's easy to forget. Or maybe just convenient for someone craving violence.
Goosebumps covered my skin at the thought.
Either way, my hopes for making my case to a fair king quickly diminished.
The man led me through what seemed like a dungeon. Screams of terror hurt my sensitive ears. As soon as we made our way through the doors, I became very disturbed by the fact people were being locked up in these cells.
They all look like they've been here for a while.
The vibes turned darker…
When he led me further down the gloomy halls, I passed people in cells like they were animals in cages.
As I was trying my best to just keep calm, the people who were awake took notice of me. Most of them looked bewildered, some of them scared.
I had just realized that they took the blanket that was covering my wings off once we entered this horrid room.
No way I'm the odd one out in a place where people turn into dogs.
I shook my head a bit, maybe they've just never seen an angel before.
i suppose its fair, being that i've never witnessed a wolf turn into a human.
We finally came to a dirty room with a mattress on the floor. Right before he threw me in the cell, He locked chains around my ankles. As if the rope wasn't enough. I whimpered at the horrendous pain I felt in my wings.
i looked at him with pleading eyes to relieve my pain.
A glimmer of pity flashed across his face as he quickly dug into his pockets and pulled out a knife.
He grabbed my arm and cut all of the ropes off. He threw me on the mattress and locked the cell. After fumbling to the floor, I looked up at him.
'How nice of him.' I sarcastically thought.
My large wings expanded to their full size as I stretched to relive a cramp. I quickly covered my body from the shocked man once I noticed him staring.
Quickly after he left, I retracted my wings so that my angel could finally heal herself.
it took time and more effort than usual, but i did it.
"It's going to be okay Esmira, as soon as the opportunity to escape presents itself, we will take it. We are strong my girl. We will survive this. I promise."
Once again, I tried my best finding comfort in her words…
