Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: The Daily Life of Steven and Wallace

While Theo was fighting with all his might in the Rustboro Gym, sunlight streamed through the wide floor-to-ceiling windows of the upper-level office in the Devon Corporation headquarters. Warm, golden light pooled across the polished floor, painting a tranquil scene.

Behind the broad office desk, Steven sat with a Pokémon Egg resting in his arms.

The eggshell was a pale, gentle blue, covered in silver-white spiral patterns, as if kissed by moonlight itself. From time to time it trembled lightly—just enough to reveal that the life inside was already curiously reaching toward the outside world.

"This egg… it definitely isn't ordinary."

A warm, refined voice sounded from Steven's side.

Wallace walked over slowly, holding a cup of steaming red tea. His clear, elegant eyes tilted slightly upward at the corners, carrying a natural, soft smile.

His iconic aquamarine hair was loosely tied behind him, a few wispy strands falling over his fair neck, making his skin appear even more luminous. His well-fitted white dress shirt had its sleeves casually rolled up, revealing smooth and elegant forearms.

His fingertips lightly tapped the eggshell, and in that instant he felt the faint tremor from within.

"So, whose egg is this? Judging from the pattern, it looks a bit like a Dragon-type Pokémon."

Steven lowered his gaze, gently running his fingers over the spiraling patterns. His lips curved into a soft, subtle smile.

"Good eyes. It's a Dratini Egg."

"Dratini?"

Wallace raised an eyebrow, genuine surprise flickering through his expression.

"From Johto's Blackthorn Clan? They treasure their Dragon-types more than anything—how did they bear to give you a Dratini Egg?"

At the mention of that incident, Steven couldn't help but chuckle. He tapped the eggshell with his knuckle, producing a crisp, clear sound.

"I have to thank that kid Theo for this."

After pausing briefly, he continued stroking the spirals on the egg as he explained:

"Lance took the Old Amber I gifted him earlier and revived it into an Aerodactyl. Later, I casually mentioned that the fossil he didn't think was valuable, the one I let Theo revive, turned out to be a Tyrunt.

"And then, just for fun, I sent him the complete genetic data of Tyrunt's evolved form, Tyrantrum, from the company's gene archive. Once he finished reading it… he practically turned green with envy and demanded my other fossil—the one with feather imprints."."

Wallace paused mid-sip. The warm tea rippled inside the cup. His eyes gleamed with curiosity.

"Oh? Don't tell me that feather fossil can also revive a Dragon-type? Your luck is unbelievable—every fossil you dig up ends up being Dragon-related."

"How could my luck be that amazing?" Steven waved his hand, but a small, sly glint surfaced in his eyes.

"The Pokémon revived from that fossil, according to its genetic data, is a Flying/Rock-type. An Archen. Absolutely nothing to do with Dragon-types."

"Pff—!"

Wallace almost spit out his tea. He quickly set the cup down, covering his mouth as his shoulders trembled from barely restrained laughter. Tears nearly welled in the corners of his eyes.

"Flying and Rock?? And Lance still made the trade? He even gave you a Dratini Egg for it?!"

"He's the one who jumped to conclusions."

Steven shrugged, his mischievous grin deepening.

"I did tell him I dug up two unknown fossils, but I never said they were from the same place. I may have casually mentioned that the fossil with the big jaw imprint revived into Tyrantrum, the ancient land king… so he naturally imagined that the feather fossil must revive an ancient sky king Dragon-type.

"He imagined a pair: land ruler and sky ruler. He insisted on trading."

As Steven spoke, his smile turned triumphant.

"Besides, Archen has already been revived. The deal is done. He can't exactly send it back to me now, can he?"

Wallace pressed a hand to his forehead, half helpless and half amused.

"Only you would dare tease Lance like that. If he finds out that the 'Dragon-fossil sky overlord' he traded for is actually a Flying/Rock-type Archeops… he'll probably fly to Hoenn on the spot to settle accounts with you."

"Let him come." Steven laughed, completely unfazed and even a little eager.

"It'd give me a good chance to spar with him. When we were mining together at Cinnabar Volcano, he kept pestering me every day. I gave him Old Amber, and now a newly revived fossil Pokémon. Trading for this Dratini Egg is hardly a loss for him."

Then Steven suddenly paused, eyes gleaming with another mischievous spark.

"And think about it, a flying type master and Archen together. Isn't that just perfect? Destiny has brought them the ideal match!"

Wallace burst out laughing, clutching the table as he bent over, shoulders shaking uncontrollably.

"Hahaha! Flying type master and Archen… only you would come up with something like that! If he hears you say that, he'll explode!"

After joking about Lance to their hearts' content, Steven casually picked up the tablet from the table. With a tap, he opened a livestream window.

On the screen was Theo's battle at the Rustboro Gym. Amid the shifting lights, the boy's focused side-profile was clear as day.

Wallace leaned closer, glancing at the screen with interest.

"So, this is Theo? Catching a shiny Feebas, his luck really is enviable."

Just as he said that, Feebas on the screen gathered pale blue water energy, firing a crisp Water Pulse that struck its opponent dead-on, ending the match instantly.

The livestream chat was already a sea of color, endlessly scrolling with praise and astonishment.

Steven watched Feebas wiggle excitedly in Theo's arms, rubbing its head against his hand, then thought back to the Tyrunt that had woven Dragon Dance perfectly into its offensive rhythm. His smile deepened with appreciation.

"That kid is impressive. Both Tyrunt and Feebas have been raised with such keen vitality. And for his age to understand battle strategy so well—it's admirable."

"More than admirable," Wallace leaned in, eyes bright with genuine amazement.

"Look at Feebas's control. Forget the opening Whirlpool—after that, he used Water Pulse to soak the field, followed immediately by Icy Wind. The transitions were flawless.

"He used the battlefield environment to its fullest. Honestly, it reminds me a bit of my younger self."

"You're flattering yourself too much." Steven shot him a sideways glance, mercilessly exposing him.

"Your Feebas back then wasn't this strong."

Wallace flushed slightly, clearing his throat with forced composure.

"He's still not quite at my level. Back then, I just never let my Feebas show its true strength against you, that's all."

"Oh?" Steven arched a brow, his tone dripping with teasing skepticism.

"But this tendency to show off on livestreams and capture everyone's attention… that really is just like you, 'Champion of Elegance.'"

Wallace laughed aloud, tapping the tablet screen with a playful spark in his eyes.

"In that case, we might as well help him boost his popularity and add some fuel to the fire!"

"Sure. Why not?" Steven agreed instantly.

Before the words fully landed, the screen exploded into two brilliant golden fireworks.

Twin beams of gilded light—symbols of the highest-tier donation—shot upward, followed by a booming system announcement:

[Congratulations! Steven Stone has gifted the streamer 10,000 League Coins!]

[Congratulations! Wallace has gifted the streamer 10,000 League Coins!]

As the sparkling effects faded, two dazzling golden messages, marked with official verification badges, drifted across the screen:

[Steven: Not bad. Tyrunt's training is very good. Keep it up.]

[Wallace: Your Feebas's skill control is excellent. Especially the opening Whirlpool shattering the rocks, very beautiful!]

The double reward and sudden appearance of two Champions detonated the livestream like a bombshell.

Viewership skyrocketed at breakneck speed. The online count shot past one million in the blink of an eye as new comments flooded in like tidal waves:

"Streamer!! Look at the chat! Steven and Wallace are HERE!!!"

"Streamer, come out and thank them! You've been blessed by TWO champions!"

"Holy—?! Steven AND Wallace?! And they EACH donated ten thousand???"

TN: Do this happened in Twitch too? I don't really watch anywhere beside YouTube, so I don't know if this is just in China or in other streaming sites too.
