Chapter 97 - Chapter 97

Wish Function - When drawing puppets or items, you can spend 10,000 to 100,000 Prayer Points to make a wish. When drawing an item or puppet of that level, you'll have a high probability of obtaining the reward you wished for.

F-Rank Fragment Fusion - Originally, one hundred identical puppet fragments were required to fuse. After unlocking this function, fragments from different puppets can be fused as long as they're F-rank.

However, it requires 1000 fragments and 1000 Prayer Points to fuse them.

Considering the strength and practical utility of an F-rank puppet, whether it's worthwhile to spend 1000 Prayer Points to make use of it was something worth considering.

After all, F-rank represented ordinary people, ranging from the lowest level of slackers to the highest level of human elites.

If they could bring together top talents in a certain profession, they wouldn't lose out. Conversely, the same applied.

In short, it was still a function with a high degree of risk.

The final feature—1000 Prayer Points Lottery - Originally, the lottery only required 100 Prayer Points, but now you could spend 1000 Prayer Points to participate, greatly increasing the probability of obtaining high-level items or puppets.

At least, according to the system description, the probability of getting an S-rank item in a 100-point lottery was one in a billion, and it was 100% guaranteed to be a fragment.

However, with 1000 Prayer Points, the chance became one in ten million, and there was a one in a hundred million chance of drawing a complete S-grade puppet. The chances of drawing A-grade or B-grade puppets or high-level items also increased accordingly.

Quinn drove Tamayo, Yushiro, and Kyojuro to a nearby hotel to settle them in. Then, he and Otto drove back to the convenience store and carefully studied the functions of the upgraded system.

After figuring it out, he glanced at the Prayer Points on the panel, which had risen to over 130,000 and were still slowly increasing.

Clearly, what happened tonight was too shocking for some people. Even after so much time had passed, their minds were still reeling and they couldn't shake it off.

However, judging from the rate of increase, there probably wasn't much more coming.

"Activate the Wish Function!"

After a moment of contemplation, Quinn silently commanded in his mind.

[Ding! The Wish Function is now active. Please enter a minimum wish amount of 10,000 and your wish target!]

[Ding! Reminder: The amount of your Prayer Points is related to the level of the target. If the amount is too small and the target level is too high, there is a possibility of failure. The greater the gap, the higher the chance of failure!]

"10,000 Prayer Points. Prayer Target: Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps!"

[Ding! Demon Slayer Corps Hashira, overall rating C-rank, success rate 80%!]

[Ding! Please complete the lottery draw within half an hour. The Wish Function will expire after half an hour, and it will also expire if you draw your desired prize!]

"Eighty percent... It seems the minimum standard of 10,000 is comparable to D-level summoning targets."

After a moment's thought, Quinn chose to proceed with summoning.

"1000 Prayer Points for 20 consecutive draws!"

[Ding! You have obtained an E-grade puppet fragment!]

[Ding! You have obtained a C-grade puppet fragment!]

[Ding! You have obtained an A-grade puppet fragment!]

[Ding! You have obtained an E-grade puppet fragment!]

...

The beginning was still a series of fragments, but the lowest grade—F-rank—never appeared.

Clearly, the lowest reward in the 1000 Prayer Points lottery pool was E-rank, and the frequency of high-level fragments appearing had also increased significantly.

However, judging from the items drawn, it seemed only the chance of drawing high-level items or puppets had increased, while the chance of drawing a complete puppet remained the same.

This gacha mechanism seemed familiar to Quinn.

Of course, it was also possible he hadn't drawn enough to tell!

[Ding! You've drawn a B-grade puppet: Captain Pip Bernadotte!]

[Ding! You've drawn a C-rank puppet: The Butterfly Mansion Sisters!]

...

Upon hearing the system notification, Quinn's eyes narrowed slightly as he examined the lottery board.

Instantly, all the information about the puppet appeared before his eyes.

[Name: Captain Pip Bernadotte]

[Race: Werewolf]

[Occupation: Soldier, Captain]

[Skills: Precision Shooting, Melee Proficiency]

[Special Abilities: Mist Transformation, Werewolf Physique, Super Regeneration, Immortality, Transformation]

[Rank: B-level, Four-star]

"It was him!"

Quinn was slightly surprised.

The Werewolf Captain was from the anime "Hellsing OVA," an early and relatively obscure series.

However, Quinn wasn't sure if calling it obscure was accurate.

After all, the famous quote, "Gentlemen, I love war," was still being used by people everywhere.

This Werewolf Captain, "Pip Bernadotte," possessed all the abilities and weaknesses of werewolves in fantasy stories. He had super strength, super vision, super speed, super regeneration, could transform between mist and solid form, could change between werewolf and human and giant wolf forms, and could be hurt by silver weapons. On the surface, this didn't seem particularly special.

However, when the underlying parameters for all of this became exaggerated, it became quite alarming.

In the anime, Alucard's familiar wires could slice through three buildings hundreds of meters wide like tofu, yet they couldn't sever the Captain's bare neck—though his fingers still bled when he gripped the wires. He could fall hundreds of meters without injury and withstand close-range missile explosions unharmed.

Even if his head was torn apart, it would quickly regenerate.

He could easily dodge rifle bullets and wires, intercept missiles, and rapidly leap across the city.

He could bend steel bars with one foot and shatter limbs, kick an entire missile casing until it was bent and dented, and bisect a body with a single kick.

He could fire accurately from extreme distances without aiming.

He could switch between mist and solid form at supersonic speed during combat, using it as both evasion and attack.

His transformed giant wolf form stood as tall as an average human at the shoulders, with an astonishing size. The werewolf form further amplified his base attributes in every way.

Furthermore, this man had served in the military for decades, possessing rich combat experience, warfare tactics, combat skills, and awareness. He could compensate for his lack of ranged attacks with modified modern weaponry, making him a well-rounded warrior with virtually no weaknesses.

Except for silver, he had no weaknesses.

Even then, silver weapons needed to hit fatal spots like the head to kill him—unlike Marvel vampires where a single silver stab turned their entire body to ash.

Rather than saying his weakness was silver, it would be more accurate to say only silver could kill him.

However, if they were discussing weaknesses, he did have one.

His desire to live was extremely low.

Perhaps he'd lived too long, but the Captain hoped someone would end his life.

In the original story, he'd fought the female protagonist, Seras Victoria, in the final battle and guided her to find his silver fangs, allowing her to kill him.

"Vampires and werewolves are sworn enemies, so go ahead and cause trouble for the vampire empire!"
