Chapter 40 - Silver Hand

A few minutes later, three ordinary Faceless Ones fell under the siege of the group.

The group continued forward and soon advanced into a massive central burial chamber, where a huge altar stood, bearing a gigantic warhammer, approximately 10 meters long, ancient in style, and inscribed with old runes.

The moment they saw this warhammer, the surrounding Keepers of Tyr became extremely excited, as this was the legendary weapon of the Guardian.

"We have arrived, Lord Uther. Ahead is Tyr's altar, and upon it rests the weapon you seek, the silver hand warhammer," said the leader of the Keepers of Tyr.

Upon seeing this gigantic weapon, the other Paladins and Uther all cast questioning glances, wondering: can we truly use this?

Although Lord Uther is tall, he is only about two meters in height. Asking him to wield a ten-meter-tall warhammer seems a bit too exaggerated.

For an ordinary human to try to lift it would be like a one-year-old child trying to pick up a two-meter-long warhammer, perhaps even more exaggerated than that.

"Heavens, this is the legendary Guardian weapon! Just as the records state, the Guardians were all massive giants," Jaina exclaimed, recalling some ancient records from Dalaran.

"Rhodes, are you sure I can use this weapon?" Uther asked, looking confused.

"Don't worry, Lord Uther, you just need to step forward and pick up the warhammer.

This weapon was forged using Titan technology; once it accepts you, it will transform into a size you can use," Rhodes said confidently.

"Lord Uther, Lord Rhodes is correct. Just go up and let the warhammer recognize you; it will change into a suitable size for you to use," said the leader of the Keepers of Tyr.

Uther nodded and prepared to step forward to touch the sacred warhammer, but just then, a surge of Shadow Power erupted in the room.

A monster approximately six meters tall, covered in disgusting tentacles, appeared.

"Be careful, everyone! This is a Faceless One created by the old gods; it's different from the ones we just faced," the Keepers of Tyr immediately warned upon seeing the monster.

Unlike the three Faceless Ones they had just encountered, this Faceless One was much larger and radiated more terrifying Shadow energy.

The previous three Faceless Ones were merely the residual Shadow energy left after the death of Faceless General Zakaz, but this one was clearly sent by the old gods to protect him.

"Prepare for battle, Paladins!"

"Great Holy Light, protect us!"

Uther took the lead, raising the warhammer in his hand and charging forward.

In this battle, Uther, along with a group of Paladins and Tyr's Guards, stood at the front acting as tanks, while the ordinary Lordaeron soldiers played a marginal role, essentially just clearing minor enemies, as they were unqualified to fight the powerful Faceless Ones.

Rhodes' gaze was sharp; he noticed two more Faceless Ones appearing in the shadows behind the altar, gathering powerful Shadow energy, clearly targeting Jaina, who was currently casting spells!

Rhodes had been largely slacking throughout the fight, only using Holy Light Flash, so he hadn't drawn much aggro.

In contrast, Jaina had been consistently outputting powerful frost magic, making her the target of these Faceless Ones.

"Jaina, look out!" Rhodes shouted, releasing the Magic Divine Arrow he had prepared earlier!

"Boom!"

A blinding blue lightning bolt tore through the darkness, screeching as it ripped through the air, accurately striking the chest of one of the charging Faceless Ones!

Its hard carapace exploded like paper before the pure destructive power of the Heroic magic, sending purple-black flesh and viscera splattering!

The Faceless One let out a soul-piercing shriek, and its massive body flew backward, crashing heavily against the altar's base. Unfortunately, this blow still did not kill the Faceless One.

"Thanks, Rhodes!" Jaina was still shaken; if Rhodes hadn't warned her, she might have been hit by the Shadow spell.

Rhodes nodded at Jaina, then raised his hand and cast two area-of-effect defensive spells, Shield of Protection and Stone Skin, which covered almost everyone present.

With Rhodes' magical protection, the Paladins, fighting under their own Shield of Protection, became even more valiant.

Even after increasing his strength, the Magic Divine Arrow he released, which had 40 points of damage, failed to kill the opponent.

The strength of the Faceless Ones was far greater than that of ordinary Abominations.

The other Faceless One let out a terrifying cackle and released a blast of Shadow magic from its hands. Seeing this, Rhodes immediately cast Divine Shield on himself, followed by Arcane Shield.

The pitch-black Shadow shockwave violently slammed into Rhodes' Divine Shield. The Arcane Shield fluctuated wildly, its light flickering, but ultimately it did not break, successfully protecting Rhodes.

"Blizzard!" "Cone of Cold!"

Large patches of ice clouds condensed out of thin air at the top of the cavern, and countless sharp ice shards whistled down like meteors!

The ice shards not only carried physical impact but also contained chilling frost magic energy, engulfing the slow-moving Faceless Ones, shattering their carapaces, freezing their slime, and causing them to howl repeatedly.

Uther charged forward like a golden God of War, his warhammer swinging with a Holy Storm, completely purifying one of the Faceless Ones, heavily damaged by the Blizzard and Tyr's Guards, into a pile of charred remains.

At this moment, Uther's entire body was infused with Holy Light, and the powerful Holy Light inflicted severe damage on the surrounding Shadow Creatures.

The strength of this Faceless One sent by the old gods was indeed formidable, but they were facing Uther, the strongest Paladin of mankind today.

If this Faceless One had appeared elsewhere, it might have instantly killed a large group of Paladins, but unfortunately, it was facing Uther the Lightbringer.

Soon, this Faceless One could no longer withstand the group's attack, and the Shadow Power on its body was constantly being driven away by the powerful Holy Light.

Rhodes seized the opportunity for the final blow, directly releasing a Magic Divine Arrow at the Faceless One, successfully snatching the kill.

The massive Faceless One let out a shriek and completely dissipated.

"We succeeded, we killed him."

"This servant of the old gods died by our hands." Everyone looked excited.

"Lord Uther, go pick up the silver hand warhammer!" Rhodes said, approaching Uther.

Uther nodded, took a deep breath, and walked forward. At this moment, the Holy Light deep within his heart was also calling, urging him to take up this legendary warhammer.

The instant Uther touched the warhammer, sacred light illuminated the entire chamber, and the silver hand warhammer reacted powerfully.

The silver hand warhammer rapidly shrank, transforming into a size suitable for Uther.

And Uther raised the warhammer high above his head.
