Jin Di froze for half a second before stepping closer, heart pounding. "I didn't mean it like that," he said quickly. "I'm sorry. I really didn't. I wasn't thinking."
He sat down cautiously on the edge of the bed.
"I'll pay half. Nothing more, nothing less. Forget what I said just now. It was stupid. Okay?"
She stared at him for a Zhang moment. "Hmph." She turned to the others. "Take the suitcases to my closet. Make space for his things."
Everyone moved at lightning speed, escaping the room as if their lives depended on it.
"Go shower," she told Jin Di once they were alone.
"Yes," he said obediently. "Thank you."
He leaned in, testing his luck.
She allowed a brief peck before pushing him away.
He sighed quietly but didn't push further.
Seeing his expression, Elena felt a twinge of guilt. She leaned forward and hugged him. "Sorry. I don't feel like myself today. I'll be fine in a few days."
He kissed her forehead gently. "It's okay. I'm just glad I'm home."
