Chapter 10 - First Mission Beyond Jin’ao Island

Three years on Jin'ao Island had passed in the blink of an eye, yet the experiences of those years had shaped Red and Snow in ways unimaginable. Every sunrise brought with it the steady rhythm of tides and the flow of spiritual energy, guiding their cultivation and strengthening their bond. Though the sea's surface remained calm, their hearts were now tempered like refined steel, ready for the challenges that lay beyond the island.

That morning, the ocean was smooth as glass, reflecting the pale light of dawn. The Turtle Spirit Mother hovered above, her robes flowing like waves of water, her gaze fixed on the two disciples standing below. There was a serenity in her posture, but the authority she carried made it clear that her satisfaction was earned.

"Red, Snow," she began, her voice both calm and commanding, "three years of unwavering training, and you have grown beyond what I expected."

Red straightened his back, the flames of his Samadhi Fire flickering gently around his fingers. The once uncontrollable fire that had singed his tail and scorched the surrounding stones now danced obediently, coiling and stretching under his will like a loyal creature. His Foundation Establishment remained at the eighth layer, but the control he had attained over the inner flame made him formidable.

"Master, I will not fail you," he said, his voice firm with resolve.

Snow stood beside him, exuding a calm and collected aura. Her nine rabbit spirits frolicked around her feet, responding immediately to her commands. Her Foundation Establishment at the ninth layer allowed her to summon and control multiple spirits simultaneously, each bound to her intent. Her hypnosis staff glowed faintly, resonating with the surrounding spiritual energy.

The Turtle Spirit Mother nodded approvingly. "Good. But the world beyond Jin'ao Island is not as tranquil as it seems. Conflict brews, and the chaos will reach you whether you are ready or not."

With a graceful motion, she conjured a golden scroll in midair. The intricate patterns unfolded, depicting the movements of sects and factions across the realms. The conflicts of humans, demons, and immortals wove a complex tapestry, each thread representing a potential threat or opportunity.

"The war to seal the gods is already underway," she explained. "My sect, the Jie Sect, and the disciples of the Originating Heaven Sect maneuver in secret, testing strength and loyalty. You cannot remain secluded on Jin'ao Island forever. Today marks your first trial outside these shores, a test of both your skills and your judgment."

Red and Snow exchanged glances, the gravity of her words sinking in. Beyond the serene waves and familiar cliffs lay a world of unpredictability, where every misstep could be fatal.

"You are to investigate a disturbance in the eastern seas," the Turtle Spirit Mother continued. "A spiritual presence has been detected. It is neither entirely Originating Heaven Sect nor fully demonic, and its origin is unclear. Your task is to locate its source, assess the threat, and return."

Red's hand hovered over the gray tower he had carried for three years. Though its true powers remained a mystery, it had awakened sporadically, responding as if acknowledging him as its master. He lifted it, the tower floating into his palm, its faint glow a silent reassurance.

"Master, I will protect Snow," he said gently, patting the tower.

Snow rolled her eyes, ears twitching in mild exasperation. "I protect you, not the other way around. You're still a step behind me in control."

Red laughed softly. "Then I'll make sure you keep smiling while I catch up."

The Turtle Spirit Mother cleared her throat, and the two disciples immediately straightened. "Be vigilant. You are representatives of the Jie Sect. Do not act recklessly or bring shame upon your teachings." She flicked her fingers, and golden runes appeared on their foreheads. "These will shield you once against danger beyond your strength. Use them wisely."

Snow squeezed Red's hand, determination shining in her eyes. "We'll return safely."

Red nodded. "And together."

A sudden gust of wind lifted them from the cliffside. Their forms blurred into streaks of spiritual light as they soared over the calm ocean, leaving the familiar shores of Jin'ao Island behind.

Below, the island slowly receded, the sounds of its waves and spirits fading into memory. Ahead, the eastern seas stretched vast and unknowable. Yet Red and Snow felt prepared. Their years of training had honed their reflexes, sharpened their perception, and strengthened the trust between them, allowing them to face what lay ahead without fear.

Red's Samadhi Fire glowed steadily within him, a controlled sun that could burn through obstacles and protect those he held dear. Snow's spirits followed her every command, shimmering like threads of light that wove around her fingers in perfect harmony. Even the smallest creatures of the ocean seemed to acknowledge their passage, scattering in silent deference.

"Are we truly ready for this?" Snow asked, her voice barely above the whisper of the waves, ears flicking nervously.

Red glanced at her, a confident smile on his face. "We don't need perfection. We only need each other. Together, we can handle whatever awaits."

Snow nodded, focusing her thoughts to sense the faint disturbances ahead. The lessons from Jin'ao Island had taught them not only strength but patience, observation, and attunement to spiritual currents. Each movement of the wind, each ripple in the water, and each subtle flicker of energy carried meaning.

The sun climbed higher, casting golden reflections on the sea. The wind carried the scent of salt and faint traces of spiritual energy. Every heartbeat, every breath, reinforced their readiness. They were no longer the timid fugitives who had first fled the Green-Leaving Manor; they were disciplined disciples, united and empowered.

The eastern seas awaited, vast and uncharted. Red and Snow streaked across the waves, leaving trails of flame and spirit energy in their wake. Their mission would not only test their power but also their wisdom, resilience, and mutual trust.

Beneath the ocean's surface, currents shifted subtly, and the spiritual presence pulsed faintly, beckoning them onward. Danger, discovery, and growth awaited in equal measure. The lessons of Jin'ao Island would guide them in every step, every flame, and every pulse of their spirit.

As the distant island disappeared behind them, the horizon stretched endlessly before their eyes. The first true test of life beyond Jin'ao Island had begun, and Red and Snow pressed forward, hearts bound, powers awakened, ready to face whatever the vast, turbulent world had in store.
