Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Mission

Somewhere in an island, a village of elves were gathered up watching a fight.

"Whisval! Beat her up!"

"Yeah! Show that Lucia who's boss!"

In the middle of a crowd, two teenage elves were throwing hands.

"You're gonna regret talking shit to me ever again!" Whisval smirked, knowing he's gained the upper hand.

His opponent, a stubborn girl named Lucia replied with a mock, "Heh, that must've sounded better in your head."

Irritated, Whisval threw rapid punches at her face with zero hesitation, slamming her to the ground so hard she struggled to move.

"Oooh——" the crowd exclaimed.

"Next time, mind your damn business!" he warned and spat on her before leaving with his gang.

Seeing that the show ended, the people went back to their daily life.

Lucia stared as they left, she wiped off any dirt and blood of her face and muttered, "Whatever, you still speak like trash anyways."

She picked up her bag, dusted off her clothes and went back home.

A creak echoed through the house as Lucia walked in the door.

"Mother, I'm home."

Lucia's mother was already sitting at the dining table sipping on tea, showing an upset face.

"Did you got into a fight again, Lucia?" she asked strictly.

"Mother, I swear I have a reasonable explanation, I-"

"I don't need your explanation, I just need you to answer me, did you win?" Lucia's mother cut Lucia mid-sentence.

Lucia went silent for a moment, then she looked away and murmured, "I lost…"

"And how many times have you win in every one of your fights?"

"…zero."

Lucia's mother sighed and took a sip of her tea, then she got up and grabbed Lucia's shoulders.

"Lucia, fighting isn't necessarily bad, you might have your reasons, but what's bad is that you always pick a fight you can't win. You're embarrassing yourself and raising their ego." she explained.

"I know that, mother. But for some reason, it's like my body moves before I even think, I can't help it." Lucia looked at her palm and said.

Her mother let out a long sigh, "How about this, before you act, gripped your arm to stop yourself from moving before you think, think you can handle that?"

"Hmm…maybe. I'll try my best, mother. Anyways, I'm gonna head out, it's boring in here."

In the streets of the village, the village head Mr Newman was strolling around, he crossed his arms and looked around, "Now, who should I pick…"

Then, he spotted Lucia walking out a bakery with a bag of bagels while munching on one, and he realised.

"Ah, that's Lucia, she was fighting this morning. Oh who am I kidding, she fights all the time." he thought to himself, then he followed Lucia to see what she was doing.

Lucia strolled through the entire street, she looked around and saw a trinket store. She walked over to check it out, and left after less than a minute.

"Did she even check all of them?" Mr Newman thought confusedly.

After that, he saw Lucia lying on a bench munching on her bagels and groaning, "Ugh…this place is so boring…"

Mr Newman peeked from a corner curiously.

"She thinks this place is boring? Damn it, I really failed as a village head."

"There's never anything new, it's still the same old stuff like 228 years before."

"You don't have to do me like that Lucia…" Mr Newman rest his forehead on the wall.

"Don't you agree, Mr Newman?" Lucia purposely loudened her voice when she said his name.

Mr Newman widened his eyes in surprise and walk subtly towards Lucia, then he chuckled, "Quite an observant one, aren't you?"

Lucia glanced at Mr Newman like he wasn't even the village head, then she asked, "Is there a reason you're following me?"

"Hm, she'll do." he thought to himself.

He cleared his throat, then he stated, "Lucia V Akylha, I have a mission I want you to handle."

"Uh, Mr Newman, what are we doing at the village shrine?" Lucia stood in front of a huge shrine with flame carvings on the wall.

"I told you this mission is huge, didn't I? We need to discuss with someone else, of course." Mr Newman said as he went through a door on the shrine which was connected to a large room.

"Yeah but the only person that lives in this shrine is…" Lucia hesitated, then she walked in reluctantly as she looked around, then she saw him.

"God Gervlare, we bought our searcher."

A wrinkly old man with white long hair was lying on his bed weakly.

"Thank you, Mr Newman…" God Gervlare got up strugglingly, then he showed a smile on his face filled with wrinkles, "I believe you know who I am, young girl?"

"Of course I do, God of Flame Roledge Gervlare? That cool fiery dude that ascended out of nowhere and vowed to protect us for as long as you live? You're pretty much the most famous person in this village. Though I must say, you aged badly for someone who used to be on the fast lane." Lucia shrugged.

God Gervlare chuckled softly and said, "Indeed, oh how stunning I was as a youngster, I feel nostalgic. Anyways about the mission. Mr Newman, care to explain?"

"Yes, so Lucia, God Gervlare here is close to his death bed, and he wants to pass on his powers to the next generation, using this ring right here." Mr Newman explained, pulling out a majestic shiny golden ring with a fire symbol on it, "so what we need you to do is to find the heir whom God Gervlare picked himself."

"An heir? Why can't you get them yourself? I don't think there is anyone in this village too far to find." Lucia tilted her head in confusion.

God Gervlare coughed twice, then he smacked his lips and said, "I didn't pick an elf, Lucia…I picked a human."

The entire room fell into silence.

"A what?!" Lucia exclaimed.

Mr Newman cleared his throat and said, "Apparently, these god powers can only be wielded by a human, God Gervlare was also human once."

Lucia turned to God Gervlare in shock, "You were a human?! But didn't humans like, attacked us centuries ago?"

"Fear not, Lucia…last I checked…elves are myths to them, barely anyone believes in our existence right now…though I can't guarantee your safety because…humans and elves aren't that different…" God Gervlare said cautiously.

Lucia nodded her head and thought of her decision, "Okay then, I'll help you find the heir."

"Good," Mr Newman tossed the ring to Lucia, "God Gervlare, perhaps you can tell her who is the heir?"

"Mm…the heir is a young adult living in somewhere called New Jersey, USA. His name is Fynnis Corretson."

The same time, at a cheap restaurant in New Jersey, USA…

"Alright, the restaurant is closed for the day! Y'all can go home now!" the boss announced.

The employees all gathered their belongings and left. A girl employee stayed and went in the kitchen.

"Hey Fynnis! Works over, your not leaving?" she asked.

"Wait up, Kallyne, just let me finish cleaning up the dishes first, there was a lot of customers today." Fynnis replied, wiping the plates and stacking them.

"Indeed there was…hey Fynnis, have you ever thought of what you wanted to do besides of doing this 9-5 everyday?" Kallyne asked.

"Hm? Yeah sure I did, when I was a kid I dreamt of becoming an overpowered god, but I was just a stupid immature kid." he chuckled.

"Really? I wanted to be those karate masters I saw in movies when I was a kid."

Fynnis laughed, "We were such an idiot, weren't we? Anyways I'm done now, see ya."

"See ya!"

As Fynnis left the restaurant like usual, he felt a dark unsettling aura coming from behind, but he shrugged it off as just his imagination, not knowing that a man in a black suit was hiding behind a wall from him.

"An overpowered god? Nice dream, Fynnis," he said to himself, "You'll be so excited to meet Lucia, what a pity that I won't allow it."
