Lyle
Asshole. Ithquent, my only God, help me with whatever I am about to do. That Professor is by far the most annoying I've ever had. And my father's staff weren't the kindest nor were they the most pleasant to even be around. I looked up to the dangling vines from the island above us, and thankfully it gave us some shade. Blake is going to burn up if she doesn't get some adequate shade; I saw her get a little pink yesterday but maybe she doesn't get too toasted today.
Widening my stance I turn my palms towards the Earth and feel the energizing power course through my veins. Yes. This feels amazing. It's rooted and strong, it makes my muscles feel sturdy. Grabbing the Earth I kept my feet grounded to her, I swung my arm releasing the Earth several feet away soaring past Blake's. Shit. Hers is way too close. As if sensing my thoughts she bit her lip looking insecure. God, why is she biting her lip?
"You couldn't throw it farther, Blake?" I poked.
"Obviously not, asshole." She bit back at me.
Whoa, what the hell? Looking down at her, her wild curls were barely kept in her tight braid. Her hair is beautiful, I've never seen anything like it. It's like the moon came down and blessed her to look just like her. I'm not supposed to like her kind.
"Well, Blake, just keep trying. You'll be fine."
She groaned and put her hands on her face, "I don't care if I'll be fine, Lyle. I need to get this, everything depends on it."
"I-" My words faltered. I don't know what to say.
"No, Lyle, you listen I need to get this just as much as you do." Her words bit me once again.
The Professor cleared his throat causing the attention to be drawn to him, "We are done today. Everyone did well, but some could do better," his eyes flew to Blake's, "We'll start again tomorrow. Hopefully it goes better."
Blake stormed off. Which is fine, I have some business I need to tend to anyway. Walking away from the group I went towards the West side of the island, the closest side towards Endorskarr. It wasn't the best walk, considering the amount of rocky surfaces there are until you make it to the beach. A small wooden boat was waiting on the shore with a hooded figure standing beside it. Walking up to it I put my hand on their shoulder and turned them around.
"Liam," I exhaled the breath I didn't know I was holding.
"Lyle, how're you, brother?"
Liam isn't my brother by blood, but he grew up with me. He has deep skin with jet-black eyes searched mine looking for something, "I am well. They're a pain in the ass, as assumed," I chuckled along with him.
"Your father is being unbearable. It's like he turned his aggression from you to the staff. I haven't seen him this angry since…" his words faltered.
"Yeah, I'm sure," I added gruffly.
"Your fiancee is waiting patiently for your return."
"Yes, I'm sure she is. But thankfully I am here and nowhere near her," the woman who I was forced to marry isn't the best. She's rude, chews with her mouth open, clops around in her high-heeled shoes and is just plain ugly. Ithquent, I wish she'd just die.
"Also," he paused, "there is a rumor about you and a certain Princess?"
My stomach fell causing my throat to feel tight, "What do you mean?"
"You know how quick rumors travel in the Realm. Some people have been seeing you two being awfully close with one another."
My posture straightened and I scoffed, "I am in her Court. What am I supposed to do? Ignore her?"
He shook his head, "No, Lyle. You know what you're supposed to do."
I sighed. Of course, "I know, Liam. It's just hard right now."
Liam nodded and his hands clapped on my shoulders, "I know, brother."
Looking up towards the sun I swallowed the ever-growing lump in my throat, "I have to go. Is there anything else you need to report on?"
"The unrest is growing in the city. They're talking about the works of a rebellion."
"What? The rebellion is supposed to be dead," worry started to gnaw at me.
"It would help if their Prince was back in the city, but since you've been gone the Guards haven't been doing anything. They're even helping them. We're tracking it around the city as we speak."
"Good. Dispose of anyone who is conspiring against the King," Liam quickly nodded and left in his boat.
Of course there'd be a rebellion as soon as I leave. Ridiculous. I turn around walking back towards the College and I feel a gnawing sensation crawling its way from my stomach to my throat. What will I do about Blake? She is…beautiful, to say the least. Her platinum curly hair is wild and carefree, her pale skin with the light dusting of freckles that dance on her cheekbones and nose. Her light purple eyes were similar to the lavender field we have on our small Isle. Ithquent needs to give me strength at this time because this woman is taking my full attention.
Looking up I saw dragons flying above the clouds. One nipped at the others and one of them shoulder-checked the one that was nipping at them. Jeez man. I wonder if they're going to the field that Blake showed me the other day. When she was going on and on about the dragon information like a chipmunk, she was the most adorable woman I've ever seen. Making it back to the College I climbed up the stairs to our quarters, opening the door I shrugged off my shirt tossing it in a dirty clothes wicker basket by my wardrobe; my room was identical to Blake's. It is time for a long, hot shower.
After getting dressed in a loose, black shirt and a pair of denims a knock sounded at my door. Could that be my Princess? Whoa, my Princess? Calm down, Lyle. She's not yours. Not yet anyway. Opening the door I looked down at her, her freshly pink skin looked like it was warm to the touch, "Yes, Princess?"
"So, I was thinking," she came into my room and paused, "We need to make it more believable."
Make it more believable? Interesting. She's really on my case about this, and all she wants is information from my isle. Why? Do the Fae not have as much information as they should? They're the ones who keep us contained on that tiny piece of land while they surround us like wolves on cattle.
"I know, Princess. You've been saying that for the past several hours."
"I know, but I–"
"You what? Have you ever been in a relationship?"
She paused, her eyes moving down to the floor, "No," she whispered.
Wow, I feel terrible now, "Oh. I didn't mean anything by it. I was just curious, Princess."
"No, no I know, Lyle. I just –" her body was getting close to mine. Her scent was intoxicating, chamomile and vanilla.
"You just," I questioned softly, leaning down to her. I moved my forefinger under her chin and gently moved her head up to face me with tingles moving from my fingertips to my head. Her soft pink lips parted ever so slightly and her breath hitched. Snapping my fingers I moved a gust of wind and shut the door to my room, I won't let anyone see us.
"Lyle, I'm not sure if I can do this," she whispered. Is she afraid? What would she be afraid of? Maybe her fellow Fae outcasting her if they see us dating.
"You can, Princess. Remember what our deal was? You let me date you, I'll give you every piece of information I have in my kingdom. It's quite a simple arrangement."
Her eyes searched my face, like she was expecting a lie or a sense of discomfort of me holding her face up to mine. My left hand at my side twitched and I slowly moved it to her side moving her gently towards me. Her breathing stopped, she licked her lips. Please kiss me. Ithquent please tell her to kiss me.
Kiss me, please. Wait, she didn't say that. I heard her whisper that phrase to me in my head, I felt her want through me. How…
No, it can't be.
I leaned down, putting my lips on hers, letting my eyes flutter close. It was like sparks erupted from our lips touching in such a simple way making my heart rush and skip a beat. Her soft, warm lips responded in a way I wasn't sure would happen. She liked me doing this to her; I felt it. I moved my hand from her chin to the nape of her neck and kept her steady as we kissed. Slowly I moved away from her and opened my eyes to find her lips plump, her eyes dilated and her already pink skin was even more flushed. Gorgeous.
"I–" she backed away and went to the door, "Thank you. I'll see you later," she left.
