Alice's POV
"You should have called me," I said, pulling back to look at her. "Maya, we have so much to catch up on."
"I know," she agreed. "Alice, I've thought about reaching out so many times, but I didn't know if you'd want to hear from me after I disappeared."
"Of course I'd want to hear from you," I said. "Maya you were my best friend."
Bryan appeared next to me and cleared his throat, I'd been so focused on Maya I'd forgotten he was even there.
"Bryan, this is Maya Chen," I said. "Maya, this is my husband Bryan."
"It's nice to meet you," Maya said, shaking his hand. "So am I, nice to meet you too." Bryan said, but I could tell he was feeling left out of the conversation.
"Were you nominated tonight too?" I asked Maya.
"I won actually," she said, gesturing to a trophy on the table behind her. "Alice, I won the technology category for my company."
"Your company?" I repeated. "Maya what do you do?"
