Chapter 11 - Cave

Roy sent his octopus clone into the cave to explore.

The caves in the sea are almost all filled with seawater with no air pocket inside, and if you enter rashly, you are likely to get lost and get trapped inside.

Octopus clones, being aquatic creatures, do not have this concern.

The octopus clones traveled along the cave.

The dark cave was rather narrow, barely wide enough for one person to bend down and pass through. If Roy's true form were to enter, he might even find himself unable to turn around.

This alarmed Roy.

How brave is Holly? Would any normal person dare to venture into such a deep, terrifying, and endless underwater cave?

If you run out of oxygen in the cave, even turning around is difficult.

How much courage does that take?

Or perhaps Holly simply wanted to die?

With doubts in his mind, Roy stared intently at the screen.

If Holly died in the cave, the octopus clone should be able to find her remains.

But so far, Roy has not made any discoveries.

This appears to be just an ordinary underwater cave.

But before long, the waterway in front of the octopus clone came to an end, and what came into view was a dark cave!

This surprised Roy greatly.

After leaving the octopus clone in place, Roy's main body surfaced and looked at old Nelson on the shore.

"I found it."

Then Roy told old Nelson about the situation inside the sea cave.

Old Nelson was immediately excited upon hearing this.

[Holly must be inside!]

At this point, old Nelson's initial excitement subsided, and his voice became somber, because he realized that even if they found the cave Holly had mentioned, she couldn't possibly be alive now.

For a moment, old Nelson was somewhat lost in thought.

He then straightened his clothes, took a deep breath, and, carrying a small package, walked steadily toward the sea.

Roy frowned slightly upon seeing this, and tried to leave old Nelson on the shore while he went to search for him.

But Nelson's attitude was unusually firm.

[Let me go down, child. This is important, more important than living.]

[I've been waiting for this day for a long time.]

Seeing this, Roy remained silent for a moment and did not stop him.

For Nelson, losing his beloved was always a deep-seated regret.

After switching to realistic perspective, Roy looked at the old man in front of him and smiled.

"Old Nelson, can you really do it?"

Old Nelson was moving faster and faster toward the sea, as if some inexplicable force was supporting him.

"lead the way!"

Thump!

Old Nelson leaped into the sea.

Seeing this, Roy suppressed his smile, jumped into the sea, and quickly arrived in front of old Nelson, beginning to lead the way for him.

Once in real-time view, Roy will gain all of the game character's skills and use them instinctively.

Therefore, despite having hardly ever dived, Roy seemed quite adept at it.

In front of the sea cave, Roy gestured to old Nelson to let him go first.

That way, if old Nelson really couldn't make it, he could provide timely assistance.

Old Nelson didn't refuse again; he just wanted to find Holly as soon as possible.

An old man and a young boy walked along the sea cave.

Despite his extensive experience, Nelson's advanced age has ultimately weakened his physical strength.

After moving forward for a while, Roy could clearly feel that his speed had slowed down.

Fortunately, old Nelson managed to make it through the journey.

puff!

A splash broke in the water in front of the cave, and old Nelson gasped for breath before kneeling on the bank and coughing violently.

Roy patted him on the back.

Soon after, old Nelson gradually recovered.

He reached out his slightly trembling hand, opened the package, and took out a round bead from it.

After the cloth covering them was lifted, a soft, dim light illuminated the surroundings.

"A luminous pearl?"

Roy was somewhat surprised.

Old Nelson wiped the seawater off his face and shook his head, saying, "What luminous pearl? This is called a pearl lamp."

"You should know about the lantern fish in the deep sea. The pearl lantern is taken from the head of a similar fish called the pearl fish."

After saying that, old Nelson used the light of the pearl lamp to survey his surroundings.

Before long, old Nelson quickly walked to a corner.

There was a pattern on the ground that looked like a lollipop, which appeared to have been carved out of a stone or something similar.

"This must be left by Holly!"

Old Nelson said in a deep voice.

He was sure this was drawn by Holly. When they were young, they often left this symbol in places to signify that they had arrived there.

He will never forget this symbol.

Old Nelson didn't speak to Roy, but focused intently on examining the surroundings with the pearl lantern, searching for Holly's whereabouts.

As they ventured deeper, the cave began to descend.

At this point, the temperature became even colder.

Old Nelson was already in poor health, and after being in the seawater for quite some time, he was now shivering from the cold.

When Roy asked what was going on, old Nelson waved his hand.

He's already inside the cave, how could he possibly stop here at a time like this?

Roy remained silent upon seeing this.

It seems that even if it costs him his life, old Nelson won't give up until he finds Holly.

After traveling for some time, the two found Holly's mark again.

At the same time, some strange noises appeared from nowhere.

The sound was very faint, somewhat like something flapping its fleshy wings.

But old Nelson acted as if he hadn't heard, focusing intently on searching for Holly's whereabouts.

Then, the cave ahead began to slowly shrink.

Finally, the two stopped in front of a narrow opening. There was a rope fixed in front of the opening, which was almost rotten. The other end was inside the opening, and it seemed that someone had gone down the rope.

Unsurprisingly, there was still a symbol carved in stone in front of the cave entrance.

"What a crazy old woman…"

Old Nelson muttered to himself as he took out a new rope, tied it around his waist, and then looked at Roy.

Roy certainly didn't want old Nelson to go first, as it was too dangerous.

But old Nelson's attitude sternly stopped him.

"Roy, you're a good boy. Thank you for bringing me here, but I have to walk this path myself from now on."

Old Nelson put his legs into the hole and paused.

"…If possible, I would like you to take good care of those sunflowers for me."

After saying this, Old Nelson disappeared into the cave entrance.

Despite the somewhat serious and sad scene, a question still popped into Roy's mind.

And what about your granddaughter Lina?

Roy fell into deep thought.

One is an old woman who believes adventure is more important than life and family; the other is an old man who believes love is more important than life and family…

It seems there's a reason why this elderly couple was able to get together…

Just as Roy was pondering this, old Nelson's terrified shouts suddenly came from below the cave.
