The Shaw family's assistants handled standard invitations, but VIP ones? Those came directly from family members.
The handwriting on this particular invite looked like Milo's own. The guards might not have known who I was, but they understood one thing perfectly: refusing me entry meant career suicide.
"Fine," I said, keeping my voice steady. I took the offered tea and sipped it, the warmth pushing back the biting cold. "One more thing."
"Absolutely! We'll handle it right away!" Both guards snapped to attention.
"Get her a cup too." I drew Sue closer. She'd barely recovered, and after standing in this freezing weather, she needed something hot.
A guard immediately brought Sue ginger tea.
That's when Erik finally got a good look at Sue's face. I could practically see the shock written across his features. 'How the hell is she still breathing?' he must have wondered. Nobody walked away from Cross family poison.
