Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 Jadeite X Defect

There's nothing to look forward to.

The so-called training is just getting beaten up.

It wasn't Bisky herself who made the move, but her apprentices—the bespectacled Yun Gu and Kevin—who sparred.

In Bisky's words, "Based on their familiarity with Nen Ability, Yun Gu and you are comparable. The only thing he surpasses you in is combat skills and awareness."

So, in her opinion, although Kevin was being beaten in such a fight, he could at least dodge and resist, rather than being completely helpless.

"Stop!"

By the stream in the wilderness.

Kevin raised his hand and shouted.

Yun Gu, who was about to punch him, stopped.

Kevin immediately collapsed onto the grass in a spread-eagle position, panting, his stamina and aura completely depleted in the fight.

"You're improving very quickly." Yun Gu walked over and handed him a towel.

Kevin took it and placed it directly over his face.

"No, I know my own situation. I'm just reacquainting myself with this body. The so-called rapid improvement is just retrieving the body's memories."

"Is that so? I haven't experienced that feeling."

Yun Gu said helplessly, then thought for a moment and tapped his cheek with his index finger.

"However, your combat skills are indeed improving very slowly."

"Don't comfort me. You can say there's been no improvement at all."

Kevin said, lying on the ground.

A week had passed since they came here for training.

However, within this week, the only improvement he felt was recovering the "memories" of this body.

He could feel that smoothness.

But other things that this body didn't possess, which required him to learn and train, progressed extremely slowly.

For example, focus and combat skills.

Especially those combat skills, like how to punch more efficiently and destructively, or how to deflect and absorb force.

It really didn't seem difficult to him, but his body just couldn't learn it.

"It seems you have a good sense of self-awareness."

Bisky had returned at some point, standing next to Kevin with her hands on her hips.

Her expression showed displeasure, but her eyes held an undisguised frustration.

Because her expectations for Kevin had formed an arc, and even more so, her highly confident judgment had been wrong.

Initially, when she received the commission, she had some expectations for Kevin.

This was naturally partly due to Jin.

Before coming, she had also gathered information about Kevin through various channels.

He was, without a doubt, a scholar type of person.

A top student, obsessed with potions, spending most of his wealth on finding different materials, and for that, he would often choose faster, illicit ways to accumulate wealth, and repeatedly commit crimes when collecting materials.

A being very much in line with a Hunter.

For such a person, Bisky neither disliked nor truly liked him.

Not to mention the original Kevin had various evil deeds.

His demeanor also gave people a dark feeling, even though his facial features actually looked quite good.

But on the first day of contact, Bisky discovered discrepancies with the intelligence.

Kevin's personality couldn't be linked to a criminal; he even harbored some reservations about killing.

In subsequent understanding, she once again raised her expectations for Kevin. His special physique and Nen Ability type, including the post-mortem Nen residing in his body.

All of these would allow Kevin to grow to heights unattainable by ordinary people.

But as training began, such expectations gradually plummeted.

Learning ability and focus, the two most needed qualities for a Nen User's progress.

Kevin did not possess them, or rather, they were very weak.

This made Kevin both talented and untalented.

It drove Bisky crazy.

It was like a top-grade jade wrapped in a huge stone, buried in a mountain. To make it truly shine, one needed to find and identify it, open the thick outer shell, and then take out the jade inside to make it a raw stone.

Then this raw jade stone still needed meticulous and long-term grinding and polishing to shine.

A challenge.

Hmph!

"Bring it on! I will definitely make you sparkle!"

Bisky pointed at Kevin, who was lying on the ground, and declared loudly with great momentum.

Kevin looked bewildered.

And Yun Gu smiled beside him.

"Had enough rest! It's physical training time now!" Bisky directly pulled Kevin up and said.

The most torturous moment had arrived.

But if it weren't for his Nen Ability, this body might not even be able to defeat an ordinary person.

Since parting with Jin, Kevin had maintained a habit of exercising, but compared to the current training, his previous intensity was merely a drop in the bucket.

...

Another week passed.

Kevin and Yun Gu stayed by the stream, living a life of training, sparring, and sleeping every day.

Bisky only came by occasionally; she was nowhere to be found the rest of the time.

In her words, how could you make a beautiful girl stay in the wilderness every day?

"Hoo."

On the training ground, Kevin once again collapsed to the ground.

His arm covered his eyes as he lay spread-eagle.

"Don't be discouraged, I also learn things slowly." Yun Gu comforted him from the side.

Kevin waved his hand, indicating he was fine.

Bisky, who had been watching the two spar from a nearby rock, stood up.

"Your learning ability is really too poor. I originally thought Yun Gu's learning speed was already slow enough."

Hearing Bisky's words, Yun Gu chuckled awkwardly beside her, looking at the lying Kevin with a slightly grateful expression.

In previous training, he had always been nagged by Bisky because of his learning speed.

But now, because of Kevin's appearance, that nagging had shifted from him.

"However, this might be your only flaw."

Kevin looked at Bisky strangely.

Without a doubt, Kevin was a top-grade raw jade with slight flaws.

And what she had to do was to turn this raw jade into a perfect work, either by discarding the flaws or by making the flaws part of its beauty.

Bisky smiled: "You seem to have an innate understanding of aura and instinctively use it. You also have an unimaginable passion for Nen Ability, a passion that makes you almost never get discouraged."

This was a very rare and valuable will and talent, not something that could be seen with the naked eye.

After speaking, Bisky suddenly snapped her fingers in the air.

Kevin instantly rolled half a turn to the side, and a pit was blasted into the spot where he had been lying.

"Ah!"

Yun Gu screamed and fell to the ground.

"You see, from the first time I met you, you instinctively used [Gyo]. You almost made this behavior a habit of life."

Yun Gu had already gotten up and was sitting on the ground, looking at Kevin with surprise; he hadn't even known this point.

Using [Gyo] required effort to control one's aura; this was a relatively advanced combat skill. How could one possibly maintain it constantly in everyday life?

Bisky came next to him and pointed at his head with her finger, as if disappointed in him.

"Because your combat is straightforward, and you are an Enhancement System Nen User, his advantage wasn't very obvious in your fights.

If you were a Transformation系 or Emission系 Nen User, the fights wouldn't be as easy as they are now."

Simply put, in Bisky's eyes, both Yun Gu and Kevin were in the 'chicken pecking at each other' stage.

As she spoke, Bisky suddenly flicked her finger again.

Yun Gu screamed once more, going from sitting to lying down.

"See! You should immediately become alert when I extend my hand. Two hundred push-ups, begin!"

"Yes!"

Yun Gu, resigned, flipped his position and began doing push-ups.

And Kevin, who was still gloating nearby, suddenly dodged again.

Regarding the use of [Gyo], Kevin needed no training at all.
