Chapter 30 - Chapter 30 Baptism x Fiery Eyes

Kevin looked at Mito, his mind replaying the conversation he had with Kite earlier.

He himself had never been to the two hundredth floor, so he wasn't very clear about the specific situation there, but he had heard a lot of relevant information from Kite.

For people like Mito, who knew nothing about Nen Ability and entered the two hundredth floor completely ignorant, there were usually two outcomes: one, being seriously injured and unfortunately dying in battle; two, surviving the battle and learning Nen Ability.

For both emotional and logical reasons, Kevin couldn't just stand by and watch Mito go up to fight so cluelessly. Emotionally, they were friends, and Kevin owed him a favor; logically, Kevin still needed the special petal material unique to Mito's hometown, which was an extremely rare fusion agent.

"What you're feeling is called Nen," Kevin said, quietly gazing at him, slowly raising his hand.

Mito instantly lowered his head, beads of sweat the size of beans appearing on his forehead.

"Do you feel it?"

Mito nodded stiffly: "It's like there's a pressure on me, just like what I felt on the two hundredth floor, but without that bone-chilling malice."

"And now?"

Kevin released a powerful wave of malice, mixed with Nen, spreading outwards.

In an instant, Mito's face turned ashen, thankfully, this malice only lasted for a moment.

By now, Kevin had already sat back down and picked up a skewer of meat to eat.

It took a while for Mito to recover from the pressure he just felt, leaning back in his chair and wiping the sweat from his forehead.

Kevin said while eating, "If you just ignorantly step onto the arena, you'll receive a 'gift' from the newcomers on the two hundredth floor and above."

"Newcomer's gift?" Mito looked puzzled.

"Yes, they call it 'Baptism,'" Kevin said, a term he had heard from Kite.

"The so-called Baptism is when they attack you with Nen-infused strikes during a battle. For someone like you, who hasn't learned to control your own Nen, these attacks are extremely lethal. Then you'll face two outcomes."

Kevin said, extending two fingers.

"First, severe injury and death; second, severe injury and learning Nen Ability."

"You can learn Nen Ability after being attacked?" Mito was a bit surprised; he had originally thought he could only wait for death.

Kevin nodded: "Otherwise, why do you think there are so many contestants above the two hundredth floor? You must have seen other contestants, those who paid the price in the 'Baptism.'"

Hearing this, Mito recalled.

He had indeed seen some disabled people, blind, armless, or limping.

"The price is quite heavy, isn't it? Of course, if you're lucky or your physical resilience is strong enough, there might even be a chance of recovery," Kevin said with a smile.

Mito thought for a moment, then looked up, staring intently at Kevin, and asked with a slight nervousness, "You... you can do it too, right? Since those people can help others complete the 'Baptism' in battle, then you definitely can, right?"

Compared to the opponents in the arena, to be honest, Mito trusted Kevin more.

After all, there was already a certain level of trust between them.

"Yes, of course. After all, I still owe you a favor, and I'll need your help in the future too."

More friends mean more opportunities, and in Kevin's opinion, Mito was clearly a person with potential.

Or rather, anyone who could reach the two hundredth floor had some potential, more or less.

Helping him awaken his Nen was not difficult for him.

Although he wasn't considered a strong person himself, the Nen Ability he possessed wasn't half-baked or self-taught; it was from a legitimate "professional background."

Although Kevin hadn't personally experienced the process of awakening Nen, he had heard about it from Yun Gu and learned the method from Bisky.

One method is through long-term special training, taking several months to a year or two to awaken Nen independently. The advantage of this method is that it is safe, reliable, and has no side effects.

Another method is forced Nen awakening, where one injects their Nen into the other person's body, forcefully opening all of their "Nen pores."

During this process, the other person must try to control their Nen until they complete "En," only then are they considered to have learned Nen Ability.

Of course, forced Nen awakening comes with a price. If one continuously fails to learn, their body's Nen will constantly leak out, leading to extreme weakness and fatigue.

If one fails to learn for a long time, it can cause great harm to the body.

"I have two methods here. One is to train slowly step-by-step, and the other carries some risk but guarantees quick results.

The second method is similar to the 'Baptism' I just mentioned, except it's not aggressive, so it's much safer," Kevin said without mincing words, directly explaining the situation.

"Then I'll choose the second one," Mito said without hesitation.

"Since you've decided, let's eat first."

And so, the meal ended with Kevin wolfing down his food and Mito being filled with apprehension.

Afterward, the two went to Mito's residence, which, as expected, was in the Sky Arena's lounge, decorated as luxuriously as Kite's room had been.

"Are you ready?" Kevin asked.

Mito, wearing a thin tank top, nodded.

Kevin placed his palm on his shoulder, and with precise control over his Nen, he easily sent his Nen into Mito's body, successfully opening his "Nen pores."

"What is this?!" Mito instantly noticed the abnormality in his body.

"Calm down, control the Nen bursting out of your body, imagine it around your body..."

Under Kevin's guidance, Mito closed his eyes and began to sense carefully.

In Kevin's perception, Mito's Nen began to twist and turn, clearly indicating a will attempting to control it.

However, nearly half an hour passed, and the Nen still hadn't fully reached the "En" state.

The prolonged outburst of Nen made Mito clearly feel a crisis; he could sense his body gradually becoming weak.

Suddenly, the Nen in Mito's body burst out violently, even more than before.

? Kevin was puzzled.

But he quickly reacted, realizing this was similar to the situation in the arena back then.

"Don't let your emotions control you, calm down, and do as I just told you."

However, before Kevin could finish speaking, under the effect of this sudden outburst of Nen, the Nen around Mito's body began to contract, then encircled and bound itself around his body, no longer overflowing everywhere as before.

What was going on? Could it be that an outburst due to intense emotion made it easier to control Nen?

Clearly, Mito also realized he had succeeded.

He opened his eyes joyfully.

Kevin looked into his eyes and asked, "Hey, what's wrong with your eyes?"

At this moment, Mito's eyes were like brilliant jewels, shimmering with an extremely vivid red color.

A very beautiful color.

Mito's expression suddenly changed, and he quickly rushed into the bathroom.

Not long after, he walked out with a calm expression, his eyes having returned to their normal color.

He looked at Kevin.

Kevin probably understood the situation and waved his hand, saying, "Don't worry, I don't know anything."

Since this was a secret the other party wanted to hide, Kevin had no intention of delving deeper.

Although he was full of curiosity, he wouldn't force himself to pry into a friend's privacy.

In fact, by combining Mito's previous behavior and words, it wasn't difficult to deduce a possibility.

The nomadic tribe he spoke of might all have similar situations.

Their eyes turning fiery red when excited might be a characteristic of their tribe.

Frequent migration and deliberate concealment might all be to avoid certain dangers.

"Thank you."
