Chapter 14 - Civil War

CHAPTER XIII

Kyle, Alisa, and Felicia were walking toward a place in the depths of Olympus. The location was far from any surveillance and had become a den for criminals. Kyle glanced to his right and saw two people fighting each other brutally, while the people around them cheered as if to fuel their combat spirit. Kyle then looked to the left; in front of a door, a beautiful but disheveled woman stared at him coldly. Her hair was messy, and in her hand was a bottle of liquor. They locked eyes until Kyle saw her being dragged into a house by someone.

"This place is the dark zone; the poor are placed here," Felicia explained.

Kyle had known about remote locations that seemed abandoned by the government, but this was the first time he saw firsthand how harsh life was in this place, which further spurred his ambition to carry out his plan.

"Even though we are busy here, we must not forget that the apocalypse is less than three months away," Alisa said, reminding Kyle.

"Let that be the business of Kaizo and Dianne. Even though I really hoped for their help right now, they instead acted very naively," Kyle grumbled.

"That's true. Even if they wanted to save the world, they could have finished this mission easily and then returned to Earth to continue. What is the use of living on Earth if humanity must again suffer because of evil people like these?" Alisa said.

Their steps halted when Felicia stopped right in front of a door. Felicia knocked on it; instantly, the door hissed open with a sliding sound. Several people were sitting and waiting for them. Evan, the captain of Division 1; Fasilis from Division 2; Gerald from Division 3; Habel from Division 4; Isyana from Division 5; and Jamal from Division 6. They were the captains of every division within the Olympus security apparatus. Every one of their soldiers was obedient to them, ready to become weapons for the sake of toppling the president. Everyone laughed happily welcoming the arrival of the three of them, except for Isyana, who was Kyle's replacement. Isyana was also happy in her own way; her gaze was very deep toward Kyle. Alisa hugged Fasilis, who used to be her subordinate before he eventually replaced Alisa's position and slowly rose to become a captain. Felicia pulled a screen from the ceiling that immediately displayed a complete map of the entire Olympus ship. The reunion was enough there; next was the most primary mission. Everyone sat back down, and Felicia opened the conversation.

"Alright, our main target is to capture Markus Spielberg, which means we must find a way to bring a large force to his residence. Does anyone have an idea?" Felicia asked.

"The very center of this ship is the vegetation room; that is the source of all plant food ingredients, so as much as possible we must also think about how to keep that place safe during the operation," Evan added.

"We have a bypass route, far from the city center but with many surveillance cameras. There are two paths that can be utilized to reach the president's residence," Kyle said.

"I know a way to trick the surveillance cameras; we can follow Kyle's suggestion," Habel continued.

"Alright, we have the path; now let's continue with how to execute it..." Felicia said.

Their conversation continued, flowing calmly yet deadly. Until finally it was finished, everyone returned to their respective places to rest. Kyle and Alisa went with Isyana, who would give them a place to sleep tonight; at the same time, Kyle also wanted to meet the people he used to lead. Kyle arrived at his headquarters; dozens of people ran happily to welcome him. For a moment, Dianne's face was pictured in his mind, but he immediately forgot it because he didn't want his thoughts to disturb his concentration. Meanwhile, Alisa got acquainted with the people. That night they had a party, releasing their longing in an excessive way, letting all thoughts vanish for a while with alcohol consumption; they danced on their feet until they forgot the real world, having fun until some of them lay sprawled because they were drunk. Kyle, who was really dizzy, didn't realize someone took him out of there. Kyle woke up when he saw a bright white light shining in his eyes. There was no one in the room, Kyle thought, because he knew everyone was partying before. However, he finally realized when he didn't see Isyana at the previous party. Sure enough, when he managed to get half of his consciousness, Kyle, who was still leaning weakly in front of the locked door, looked straight ahead of him. On the table, Isyana, in a very tempting rabbit outfit, sat smiling and staring at him.

"What are... Ehhh... You doing there?" Kyle tried to ask even though his head felt really dizzy.

"Captain... I am the person who most easily feels jealous, especially toward a rival like Dianne," Isyana climbed down gently and slowly walked with a sway toward Kyle.

"I always tried to train to catch up with her achievements, but she is truly great. Dianne... even being your assistant was the peak of my grudge against her, especially when she was accused and thrown to Earth with you. I thought, 'it should have been me, not her,' but finally I can surpass her now~" Isyana said.

Kyle felt soft fingers lifting his chin along with white hair that was as smooth as silk touching his face. The soft scent of blooming flowers caressed his sense of smell, along with the aroma of hot, surging sweat coming from her. Right when they approached each other, the door was knocked, and Alisa's voice was heard as if she was struck by panic.

"Captain, this is a problem, this is a disaster!!"

Kyle realized and told Isyana to go and change clothes. Kyle then opened the door with the key given by Isyana. Alisa showed a broadcast showing Felicia being executed by the government that very night. Her hands were chained, and her body appeared full of bruises from being beaten. The camera focused on Felicia's face, and Kyle saw something that seemed to be a last message for him; Felicia looked at the camera, her eyes crying not because of sadness, but because of pain, and Kyle saw that she smiled. Markus was then highlighted by the camera. "Tonight we have captured a traitor! Tonight we will eliminate foreign henchmen, tonight we will clean the government of pests caught spreading some state data and taking it without permission, and she will be sentenced to death!!" Markus gave a speech, and Kyle felt something was wrong. Markus seemed to suspect that he was still alive, because actually there was no reason to arrest Felicia that could get her executed unless he knew there was a plan behind it. Markus began to be suspicious when he watched the radar installed on the Symbiotes on Earth not moving at all. At first, he thought he had succeeded in killing Kyle and his group, but after several days, no radar moved; that indicated that the Symbiotes in that secret room had been killed. Charles was raided by force not because he was doing secret broadcasts, because Markus didn't even know that he could do that. Charles was killed because he was afraid that Spielcorp's secrets could be obtained by Charles from any channel, and that would mess up his throne, considering he was the one who controlled the entire internet network.

Isyana finally came out of the changing room and told another painful fact: if previously Kyle had locked eyes for a long time with someone, it was because that person hated him. During the trial, there was indeed a surge from the people because they defended Kyle and Dianne, but a few months later, Markus paid several of his people to spread manipulated information so it truly looked like the truth. People really thought the despicable acts accused of Kyle and Dianne were real, and also all the badness of the government was instead turned and accused of Kyle, which made everyone believe the government even more. Now people hated Kyle and anyone involved with him; even the level of public trust in the apparatus really dropped drastically. This truly triggered Kyle's anger.

A week later, the mission was launched. One of the soldiers dropped hundreds of smoke bombs onto one of the two paths located very close to the trade zone. Because thick smoke came out, people in the market immediately panicked and began to run in fear and entered other traffic paths; in the middle of that crowd, the entire force slipped in and created a commotion in the queue because of the crowding. Several police were stationed to secure the traffic, and most of the officers were diverted to where the smoke appeared, but clearly that was just a distraction and no one was there. Finally, by the president's order, chaos emerged. Special armed apparatus were deployed to the place passed by hundreds of people, and they were ordered to shoot dead anyone who looked suspicious, even though Kyle planned to pass through that place thinking the apparatus would have trouble finding them among the people. Shots were fired, several people fell, and mass panic occurred. There was no news broadcasting this event; all internet access was cut off to keep the secret. Kyle along with dozens of his troops immediately turned into an evacuation team that fired their weapons back to repel the apparatus and save the citizens.

The six divisions split up to separate the citizens who were still safe so they could get away. But unfortunately, one of the president's soldiers saw Kyle among the group. The next order came down. More troops were deployed to slaughter everyone there. There was no way back from the war. All exit doors from the middle area were locked tight without a gap. Everyone trying to escape would die. Not only those being evacuated felt fear, the same thing was felt by those living in the apartments in front of the president's house. Located in the fastest location and right in the middle of the conflict increased their safety risk, because there could be shots aimed at their heads.

This was no longer a mission to topple the government; this was a civil war.

Alisa moved forward and slashed many guards to open the way, gathering several people and ordering her troops to help guard the citizens. With her experience on Earth, Alisa parried all shots using her plasma sword. The aroma of burning iron enveloped the room; smoke and sparks burned the shop houses in the market. Chaos occurred again when from below a turret that fired thousands of lead bullets came out and began to attack blindly, damaging and destroying everything. Many citizens were shot, not to mention the soldiers. Meanwhile, Kyle and Isyana broke through to the front toward the courtyard of the president's house, intending to put people into the apartments so they would be safe from the battle. While chaos occurred, hundreds of special forces were again deployed from behind. The battle in the market had killed hundreds of people, even Habel and Gerald. Alisa carried the injured Jamal while directing the remaining people to escape in front of her. Jamal continued to shoot while fleeing. Until finally he threw a grenade to block the soldiers. The wall collapsed, the path was closed. Alisa, who was exhausted, made Jamal ask Alisa to leave him. Alisa cried because she didn't have the heart, but seeing Jamal's worsening condition made Alisa give him a hug and leave Jamal in that hallway. Finally, the soldiers managed to catch up to them, but seeing the dying Jamal made them stop chasing and try to catch Jamal while laughing at him for being left behind. But without a cue, Jamal opened his eyes and said, "Come here, you dwellers of Hell!"

"BOOOMMMM" An explosion occurred again in the hallway that was previously full of smoke. Dozens of soldiers died instantly because Jamal pulled all the triggers on the grenades attached to his body. That large explosion caused a slight earthquake in Olympus.

Alisa caught up with the group while crying, but she instantly went silent because she saw that everyone who had escaped had been finished off. With anger seeing the soldiers around her, she began to go on a rampage; her hands twitched violently and began to evolve. Alisa accepted that she was a Symbiote. Fleshy wings sprouted from her back. Alisa also had a speed that made no sense for a human and began to finish off all the soldiers blocking her path. Everything started to get chaotic when Alisa was seen on the surveillance camera. The report of a Symbiote attack triggered Markus to bring in his secret armed forces, failed meta-humans who were fully transformed into robots that had no thoughts but had strength equal to ordinary meta-humans. Dozens of these robots began to storm Alisa and pressed her toward the president's house courtyard. Kyle, who had just arrived, was very shocked to see Alisa's form, which made him unaware of the attack. A laser shot straight toward him, but Isyana did not stay silent; she pushed Kyle until he fell. Kyle was safe, but that shot destroyed Isyana's head, making her fall sprawling without a chance to say anything. The people went silent watching that and immediately panicked, running to the back, the place where they were finally finished off by the soldiers who had just arrived. Kyle stood still and brooded without realizing he was dragged to the middle of the president's house courtyard along with Alisa, who was seriously injured. Kyle thought of a painful thing: his plan to free the people from cruelty instead brought problems and caused casualties. Kyle looked up and witnessed for himself a mother cursing him while carrying her child who had been shot dead. Markus Spielberg came out of his residence with his wife, who looked very sad seeing that, while her husband instead laughed out loud because he felt he had won.

"You guys are truly stupid to feel you've won against me; I am the ruler, I am God on the face of the earth! Hahahahahahahahha!" Markus shouted while mocking Kyle and Alisa. Kyle lowered his head because he knew there was no way to win now. Finally, Markus ordered their execution there and then. Hundreds of laser shots were aimed at them.

"ZEPPP"

Time seemed to stop. Kyle looked around witnessing a miracle before his eyes, when everyone looked shocked because all those beams vanished. Glass fell from above but immediately merged back together and formed the roof again.

A bright light enveloped Kyle and Alisa. The blue mantle fluttered; Kaizo had arrived.

Markus, who was angry, immediately lowered the order, "Finish him!!!"

All the soldiers stared at Kaizo.

"Good luck with that," Kaizo replied.

Hundreds of robots charged, and all were parried by Kaizo; they all went flying, but no one died, only dying. Kaizo was shot by hundreds of bullets, and all were caught so as not to put holes in the ship. He then dove down and zoomed around the courtyard, beating all the soldiers with his bare hands. Some were thrown, some became displays on the wall. Kaizo pulled one of the enemies and spun him like a propeller, then threw him back toward their troops; all fell like they were playing bowling. Kyle witnessed everything with his own eyes, making him calm again. Kaizo then jumped and caught the president, choking him and slamming him to the ground. Markus was truly at a loss for words.

On the other side, Dianne, who had infiltrated the news and broadcasting office, threatened the entire staff to restore the network and display what she brought from Earth.

Markus, who was on a rampage, tried to escape, but Kaizo's grip was too strong to resist.

Finally, the network was back, and everyone immediately watched the biggest news in history. Dianne displayed all of Spielcorp's secret archives, everything including that video. Many people were made to vomit from watching that, and the people watching who happened to be at the battle location immediately reviled Markus to the core. Harsh condemnation was immediately thrown at the government, and everyone turned back to supporting Kyle. The soldiers who previously turned a blind eye immediately realized because of that. Those who were previously fighting Kyle turned and arrested Markus. When they tried to arrest Mariabelle, Dianne came and said that Mariabelle was not the president's ally.

Markus, hearing that, was immediately furious, "What is the meaning of this, huh!?" He said while struggling until finally his leg was shot to disable him. Mariabelle then said, "I'm sorry~ but unfortunately you no longer have my love; I have hated you for a long time," Mariabelle said while patting her stomach.

Markus immediately went silent seeing that, realizing it was a sign that Mariabelle was pregnant with someone else's child, not his, and he would never know whose child it actually was.

Fasilis was carried out by the soldiers who were previously chasing him; Fasilis was seen laughing out loud even with a dying body. "You must pay for all the lives you have killed! You bastard!! All my soldiers, all your people, and both my parents!" It turned out Fasilis's father and mother, who lived in the apartment, were in the market and were the first to be shot dead by the soldiers. Fasilis pulled out a pistol from the pocket of the soldier next to him and immediately shot Markus; luckily, it was parried by Kaizo.

"Hatred and anger are the beginning of destruction; be silent! Let the law finish him," Kaizo's words immediately pierced Fasilis's heart, making him sprawl and cry.

Kyle met Kaizo and apologized. Kaizo only replied with a heart-soothing smile. Meanwhile, suddenly Dianne ran and hugged Kyle from behind. Both cried happily releasing their longing.

Kaizo met Alisa, who had apparently recovered. They looked at each other, and Kaizo was shocked to see Alisa's current form.

"Strange, I shouldn't remember the people I know because I am already fully controlled by the virus," Alisa said.

"Haha, you should have realized from the start; that would help more. It means now you will have a new name. What kind of bird name do you choose? Because we already have a razorbill and a secretary," Kaizo asked while laughing.

Alisa joined in laughing softly; slowly she replied, "I am... a phoenix," she said while hugging Kaizo.

That afternoon ended in silence.
