Chapter 5 - Losing pieces of memory

It was dark. no sound. no nothing. Only a blue tiny spark was lighting up the darkness. And it kept moving away from Yael's pitiful state--he watched it leave helplessly as he stayed in place.

Once it was out of sight, he no longer felt anything. he was gone. In the real world, his mom sobbed, the doctors tried to start his no-longer beating heart. It was all in vain. He was gone.

The incident was in the headlines.

Yael meanwhile woke up in darkness. He was floating--his mind was still in shock. "Hey." echoed throughout the endless blackness. Yael turned around "huh..?" he looked around in panic. "someone? Anyone?"

Another "Hey." was heard. Not from the void but from his own head--inside his skull, it was a flat, emotionless 'hey' he'd heard from somewhere. Suddenly the same voice started talking again.

"User: Yael V. Designation: Wraith_19. Status: Transferred."

"Transferred? What does that—"

"Protocol_01: Memory Integrity Check."

A light suddenly flashed him. His whole life is running in front of him in seconds. And then silence. He forgot. Every single thing he saw. He forgot it. He only remembers the game, his name, and the platinum-tier sub--thorno_PaX.

"Corrupt data. Redundant. Cleared." the voice stated. "Welcome to the Sandbox, Yael. You are the new test variable. Your first objective is simple."

"What objective? Get me out of here, you psycho!" He screamed to the air.

A single blue pulsing way point--identical to the ones from DD--appeared in the black place of nowhere.

"Reach the exit. Or be formatted."

A time limit was set onto his face mere inches away from him. " 00.05.00"

Beep.

"00.04.59"

The time was going down. Yael realized what was going on and ran. Ran to the blue pulsing point. But the blue pulsing point wasn't coming closer. He stayed in place. He had forgotten he was floating.

"00.04.41"

Yael tried swimming...Though that didn't work out at all.

"00.04.34"

Then he tried using his head. "I will fly to the blue point." he repeated over and over.

"00.02.13"

A red glowing screen popped up to his face.

"Use flotter skill?"

"The hell is flotter?" He mumbled, before accepting. Suddenly he felt light, he took a step and it worked. He started running towards the blue point.

"00.00.04"

He was almost there.

"00.00.03"

Few more steps away.

"00.00.02"

Just one more step.

"00.00.1"

He reached.
