Chapter 14 - Trouble

Even after days, Celia had reached 100%. She was still a soul after all. not a body. So she was untouchble by everyone except Yael, since he had adopted her.

They both had stayed in an abandoned hotel's room. It was surprising how well kept it was.

The room wasn't just clean. It was pristine. The sheets were starched white, the dark wood furniture dust-free, the mirror spotless. It felt less like an abandoned hotel and more like a stage set, waiting for actors to arrive. The silence was a thick, expensive blanket.

Celia floated by the window, her 100% soul casting a soft, steady glow on the faded floral wallpaper. She was tracing the path of a single, pixelated raindrop sliding down the glass—a weather effect the Sandbox hadn't bothered to disable here.

"It's too quiet," she said, not turning around. "Even for here."

"So? I can't wait for a boss or something. I need to level up..." Yael states while looking at his level, which was at 012. "I am too low."

Celia nods. "And can i get a tiny bit of their soul to eat?" She grins.

The demon chat, which had been quiet, observing the new environment, flickered to life.

ABADDON: OH.

ABIGOR: THE PLOT THICKENS. THE GHOST HAS AN APPETITE.

BAEL: FEED HER! LET'S SEE WHAT HAPPENS!

DAEVAS: CONSUMPTION OF PURIFIED MEMORY-FRAGMENTS WOULD ALTER HER AURA. THE AESTHETICS COULD BECOME... SYNTHETIC.

MALPHAS: REAL. DO IT.

Yael sighs. These demons were their number one fan. Always commenting, even though there were others. "Fine. If we find a mon-" He spoke too soon.

The door is knocked out and a monster emerges. It was Minotaur.

The Minotaur was a monster with the head of a bull and the body of a man. The god Poseidon was angry with King Minos of Crete. As punishment, he made the king's wife fall in love with a bull, and their child was the Minotaur. And it had died by Thesus who entered the labyrinth and killed him.

But why isn't he dead? That's when it hit Yael. They are in the labyrinth.

The demons see Yael's realization and comment on it.

ABADDON: SURPRISE MYTHOLOGICAL RECALIBRATION!

ABIGOR: THE LABYRINTH IS THE OLDEST PRISON NARRATIVE. A PERFECT FIT FOR THE COLLECTION.

BAEL: FINALLY, A BOSS! KILL IT! TAKE ITS THREAD!

DAEVAS: IT ISN'T DEAD BECAUSE HERE, THE STORY ISN'T OVER. THE LABYRINTH IS ETERNAL.

MALPHAS: HE'S THE GROUNDSKEEPER.

"Brother..What's this ugly creature?" Celia tilted her head.

"His head is certainly food!" Yael said happily. "And of course one third of the soul is for you."

The words land like a thrown rock in the silent, curated hall. For a moment, the Minotaur just stares, its dark eyes processing the statement not as a threat, but as a strange new piece of dialogue in its eternal, looping script.

Then, it does something unexpected.

It laughs.

"Whoa..." Celia says in astonishment.

Yael meanwhile is getting some poison and a dagger from the store. "Eh...You got weak spots everywhere."

[TARGET: MINOTAUR - STATUS: [SOULLESS CONSTRUCT].

ANALYSIS: MYTHOLOGICAL ARCHETYPE. NO CONSUMABLE SOUL DATA DETECTED.]

The yellow screen pops up. "Oh..Celia..We're in trouble."
