Chapter 44 - boring history of magic

"Well, there's another explanation…" Albert said with a strange expression, "Among Muggles, a group of professional scientists discovered a substance, a protein that can catalyze the formation of eggshells, and this protein is only found in the ovaries of chickens. In other words, without chickens, there would be no such protein, and it would be impossible for eggshells to form. And once the eggshells are formed, they can protect the chicks so that they can be successfully hatched. So their conclusion is that the chicken came first, then the egg."

These words caused everyone to freeze in shock, even the young wizards from the Muggle world.

"I know you don't understand, but the answer that the chicken came first has been verified by someone," Albert explained.

"So…" Katrina asked tentatively, "you believe that the phoenix came first, then fire?"

"No, the magical world is different from the Muggle world." Albert shook his head and said, "The phoenix and fire, I think it should be a cycle. The phoenix will be reborn from the ashes after it dies, and its life will only continue to cycle forever. I think it is meaningless to explore the origin of the phoenix."

Katrina raised an eyebrow; Albert's answer wasn't bad.

"Impressive. Even among Ravenclaw students, few can answer this on the first try," the Ravenclaw boy behind Albert couldn't help but praise. "By the way, my name is Roger Davis. It's nice to meet you."

There's no way around it, you have to admit it.

Roger Davis also faced questions about the eagle-shaped bronze door knocker, but he answered them all wrong.

Most Ravenclaw freshmen are unable to pass the eagle-shaped bronze door knocker and always need an upperclassman from Ravenclaw to help them enter or leave the lounge, which is always inconvenient.

"I'm curious, why were you sorted into Gryffindor?" Roger Davis asked, voicing everyone's curiosity.

Who knows?

The conversation ended there, as Professor Binns made his grand entrance by walking through the blackboard into the history of magic classroom – a truly eye-opening entrance.

Ten minutes later, all the students in the classroom looked drowsy.

There's a reason why History of Magic is widely considered the most boring subject. Professor Binns always reads the contents of the book in a monotonous and tedious voice, and everyone just hastily writes down the important names and dates. Even Ravenclaw students can't resist this hypnotic effect.

The only one still energetic in the classroom was Albert, who had a piece of candy in his mouth.

I'm reading a book intently, and occasionally I'll take notes in another book.

"It's unbelievable that you could withstand Professor Binns' hypnosis!" After class, the Weasley twins looked at Albert with admiration, each putting an arm around his shoulder. "Please lend us your notes on the history of magic so we can copy them."

Li Jordan had already taken the History of Magic from Albert's hands with a smile.

"What do you think?" Albert rolled his eyes. In his history of magic class, he multitasked, reading and taking notes at the same time.

For this reason, Albert even upgraded his Multitasking skill to level 2.

However, it is indeed very useful for learning about the history of magic, after all, there are still five years of history classes to attend.

"Do you know what's going on with Professor Cuthbert Bins?"

"What rumor?" The three of them were immediately drawn to the question.

"According to a part of Hogwarts history," Albert said in a low voice, "Professor Binns was unaware that he was dead, at least not at the beginning."

"One day, Professor Binns stood up to go to class, but accidentally left himself in an armchair in front of the fireplace in the faculty lounge. Of course, he was quite old at that time."

"Wow!" The three of them were very surprised, never expecting that this wizard would become the history professor at Hogwarts forever.

Before the meal, the three of them had already copied down the history of magic.

"Do we have classes this afternoon?" George asked, already eager to ride Charlie's Comet for a spin.

"There's another class this afternoon, a transformation class," Li Qiaodan said regretfully.

Albert muttered, "I dare say this is absolutely the easiest course ever!"

With only three classes a day, how could it not be easy?

It is said that the British, who do not value lunch, usually just eat something casually at this time.

Albert abandoned his plan to prepare a sandwich for himself, as he hated eating sandwiches all day. He quickly finished his lunch with some pumpkin juice and a few pieces of stewed potatoes.

The twins planned to go out and explore during this time, while Albert thought they should wait until after the Transfiguration class, since that would give them ample time and energy. As for the time between lunch and class, Albert planned to rest in the castle courtyard and read some books.

The courtyard was full of students, who gathered in groups to chat, while others brought their lunches there to eat.

Hogwarts in September is no longer as sweltering as in summer, especially since it had just rained yesterday, and the breeze brought the coolness of autumn.

"If only I could conjure up a cushion," Albert remarked, sitting on the lawn. "I suddenly realized that mastering Transfiguration is quite important."

"No, no, that's absolutely not a reason to learn Transfiguration well," Lee Jordan couldn't help but complain.

"What do you think is in that forest?" Fred asked suddenly, looking at the Forbidden Forest in the distance.

"Dumbledore said there were werewolves inside."

"And centaurs."

"There are probably other magical creatures as well," Albert continued. "Perhaps the game ranger also keeps some strange creatures in the forest."

For example, Thestrals, eight-eyed spiders, giants...

"By the way, how's your Disillusionment Charm coming along?" George changed the subject. He wasn't planning on going to the Forbidden Forest yet. They liked adventure and excitement, not suicide missions. Besides, werewolves were infamous in the magical world; one bite and it was all over.

Currently, their biggest concern is when night tours can begin.

"So fast. Mastering the Disillusionment Charm isn't easy." Albert took out his wand, recited a spell, and gently tapped a fallen leaf.

The color on the surface of the leaves began to change, as if it were merging into his palm.

"It doesn't feel the same as I imagined," Li Qiaodan said, scratching his head.

"You might not be able to tell from a distance, but in reality…" Albert shook his head helplessly, "you'll notice it immediately when you get up close."

"It's a bit like a chameleon."

"Its principle is similar to the camouflage of a chameleon." Albert did not directly use the experience pool to upgrade the Illusion Charm. He planned to spend time figuring it out slowly and he would only feel a sense of accomplishment when he had completely mastered it.

The learning process is very important; only in this way can one truly feel like they are studying at Hogwarts, and he doesn't want to miss out on this experience.

Albert was prepared to spend two months learning the Disillusionment Charm on his own.
