Chapter 43 - The Lord Who Tumbled Down the Mountain

Liyue Harbor, Yujing Terrace

Granny Ping's Abode

Bonanus was currently chatting with Granny Ping about daily life, as well as the events that had transpired in Liyue Harbor after their disappearance.

To summarize everything in one sentence: they had fought alongside the Geo Archon until peace was secured.

From this conversation, Bonanus gleaned a lot of useful information. However, with a woman's intuition, she could tell Granny Ping was deliberately avoiding certain topics.

Probably some unpleasant memories she didn't wish to bring up, right?

Thinking this, Bonanus immediately changed the subject. She had asked what she wanted to ask anyway; no need to dwell on those matters.

"Mmm... Sister Ping, did you know? I met Ganyu earlier!"

"Oh? You met Ganyu? She was probably sent by the Tianquan to assess the situation," Granny Ping said with a smile. That girl was truly diligent.

"Yes! I feel she's become different! More mature, more beautiful!"

Bonanus briefly recalled Ganyu's figure. It was the kind that appealed to everyone! Even as a woman, she felt the urge to... thoroughly appreciate it!

"Indeed, Ganyu has experienced much over these years. Most importantly, she's no longer as... plump as she used to be!"

When the topic of Ganyu being very chubby came up, both of them couldn't help but chuckle softly. This was one of the most amusing anecdotes within their Adeptal circle.

After all, being so round that she tumbled gulu gulu down a mountain and choked a demon god to death—no matter how you thought about it, it was simply miraculous!

That was a proper demon god! However weak, it shouldn't have come to that. But Ganyu actually did it; she successfully choked one to death.

The various Adepti would bring this up during idle moments. Among them, Cloud Retainer—the 'One Who is Highly Skilled at Conversation'—was practically a loudmouth.

For some reason, Cloud Retainer back then loved boasting everywhere that her disciple had choked a demon god to death, as if it were some praiseworthy feat.

Even the mortals had heard whispers of it.

Because of this big mouth, Ganyu experienced social death. This incident motivated her to strive fiercely, developing an incredibly strong ability to control her appetite.

"Just now at the harbor, I seemed to hear someone mention Ganyu's title... something like 'The Lord Who Gulu Gulu Tumbles Down the Mountain'. Sounded quite amusing."

Bonanus wore a mischievous grin. She just hoped Ganyu wouldn't blame her when she found out!

"Oh? Is that so? That title is indeed quite interesting," Granny Ping nodded slightly, hoping the child Ganyu wouldn't be too embarrassed when she learned of it.

The two older women chatted more and more cheerfully, while Yanfei, listening nearby, became more and more engrossed. Gossip among the Adepti—this was truly fascinating to her.

Compared to those who sought her out for justice over the slightest trouble, this was what Yanfei was most willing to listen to.

Though she knew eavesdropping on Granny and this Great Adeptus's conversation wasn't quite proper... she really wanted to keep listening!

And Granny hadn't asked her to leave, had she? Might as well quietly exploit this little loophole. It wasn't work hours anyway.

Thinking this, Yanfei gave her cute little head a shake and continued to focus intently on their conversation.

"Speaking of which, that fellow Bosacius has also returned, hasn't he? Why hasn't he come to see his Sister Ping?"

Granny Ping's tone carried a hint of sternness, but if you looked up and saw her kindly smile, the sternness vanished instantly.

"Big Brother Bosacius is currently wandering the mortal realm with Rex Lapis. He should probably be able to come by tomorrow for the Lantern Rite," Bonanus replied.

"Very good. However, you will all have to work hard during tomorrow's Lantern Rite." Granny Ping knew that every Lantern Rite was the busiest time for the Conqueror of Demons.

Now with two Yakshas returned, it should lighten Xiao's burden somewhat.

"It's no trouble, no trouble! At most, I can craft a few substitute talismans then! They have time limits, but making a few more will solve the problem!"

Bonanus chuckled. She wondered if her substitutes could earn her karmic debt. If so, that would be fantastic! Cheap labor—even a capitalist would be tempted!

"Oh? You learned such skills during your years away?" Granny Ping asked curiously. Though Bonanus was a talented Adeptus, Granny Ping didn't recall her learning substitute talismans.

"Just a fortunate opportunity. Without that chance encounter, I probably wouldn't have returned!"

"Guess I'm just tenacious! And I even managed to save Big Brother Bosacius along the way!"

As she spoke, Bonanus gently stroked the teacup with her large hands. Gazing at her reflection in the tea, she momentarily lost herself in thought.

"It seems fortune was on your side!" Granny Ping nodded slightly. This was merely an exclamation; she didn't believe in some overarching 'heavenly will'.

After all, in the eyes of these people, their only faith was in Rex Lapis, the one who led them to victory.

"Hah, just a bit of luck, that's all!"

Bonanus waved her hand lightly, indicating that things like 'heavenly will' didn't exist. If 'heaven' had a conscience, Bonanus would have been a playable character in her previous life.

"But it feels a bit of a pity. I wanted to ask Ganyu to go shopping with me earlier, but she refused."

Bonanus propped her chin on her large hand, wearing a regretful expression. Missing out on the company of such a beauty—anyone, man or woman, would feel it was a shame!

"That child Ganyu, she has a great deal of work on her hands."

Granny Ping replied. Ganyu was like this every day; even ordinary people knew of this diligent half-qilin.

"Ganyu has no time, but perhaps Yanfei could show you around."

As Granny Ping said this, she smiled and looked at Yanfei. No particular meaning, just asking if she agreed.

Yanfei, who was still listening to the gossip, snapped to attention. She wore a slightly troubled expression, saying somewhat apologetically:

"Although taking a senior out shopping would be a delightful thing to do..."

"Granny, you know how I am. I still have a pile of cases waiting to be processed..."

"And taking Great Adeptus Bonanus out shopping would surely draw crowds, right? That would cause a lot of trouble!"

As a half-Adeptus, Yanfei already attracted enough attention moving among mortals. If she wasn't careful, she'd get surrounded.

After all, people were always curious about Yanfei's antlers—mortals didn't have them. So, being surrounded was normal.

Moreover, her work was already very time-consuming. If she brought Bonanus along, they probably wouldn't be able to take a single step in Liyue Harbor...

One shouldn't underestimate the Liyue mortals' enthusiasm for the Adepti, especially since Great Adeptus Bonanus was the Yaksha most amiable towards mortals.

"That is indeed true," Granny Ping nodded slightly. What a pity, then.

"Actually, there's no need for such trouble! I don't really have much time myself; I need to go eliminate some evil spirits later."

Bonanus waved her hand, indicating it wasn't necessary. She still had to go make some Mora later!

"If possible, when Yanfei goes out tomorrow, she could purchase some items for me. As for the bill... put it on 'Childe's' account."

Bonanus didn't want to put the tab on Hu Tao. After all, she wasn't officially part of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, and Hu Tao had suffered enough under Zhongli's antics. So, she'd let her off this time.

"Mhm, alright, no problem! My eye for appraising item quality is still quite good!"

Yanfei confidently patted her chest. Though her appraisal skills couldn't compare to that Mr. Zhongli, her abilities were still top-notch.

"'Childe'? Haha! You mustn't learn from that gentleman's ways!"

Granny Ping couldn't help but laugh when she heard 'Childe'. After all, she often heard about Mr. Zhongli's deeds from Yanfei.

"Hehe. Sister Ping, I'll take my leave now. I'll visit again when I have time tomorrow." Bonanus smiled slightly and stood up, preparing to depart.

"Alright, travel safely."
