Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 A Baffling First Attempt

That evening, Billy went to his date with Marie, but with a plan. Before leaving his apartment, he made sure to "forget" his bank card, just as before. He met Marie and they walked for a few minutes. Billy saw a churro stand and decided to put his plan into action.

"Oh, no! I forgot my bank card again," he said to Marie.

Marie smiled, "Don't worry, I can pay. I have my wallet on me."

"No, don't," Billy insisted. "I'll go get my card."

"Are you sure?" she replied. "I can just pay, it's so much easier than going all the way back to your place."

Billy panicked. This isn't working! Why isn't it working like last time? Maybe I'm just crazy after all.

"You know what? Fine, you can pay," he said with a sigh.

Oh, if only I had really brought my card, she wouldn't have to pay, he thought to himself.

Marie paid, and they ate their churros, enjoying the evening. As they finished, Marie said, "It's getting late. I should probably head home."

"Yeah, me too," Billy replied.

They each went their separate ways. When Billy got home, he changed into his pajamas, and what he found left him speechless. His bank card was in his pocket.

"But... it worked!" he whispered to himself. "It really appeared in my pocket! I thought I was going crazy, but I'm not."
