Chapter 45 - Reaction From Major Powers

Boom!

Everyone watched aghast as the beam of blue light struck the head of Mashiro point-blank.

All Hosai clansmen felt fear—fear knowing that their seemingly rugged Clan Patriarch could die.

No one believed that the beam of light didn't damage Mashiro, as the blast was point-blank and the power of the gathered chakra was enough to kill many of their clansmen from the previous blows.

All eyes turned onto Mashiro, whose face was covered in thick smoke.

When the smoke fully dispersed, everyone was horrified.

Mashiro's face was burnt, and the right side of his face showed the skull. His eyes and cheeks were melting and only the left side of the face was evidence that the person now collapsed on the ground was the patriarch of the Hosai clan.

Kamishiro, upon seeing the corpse of Mashiro, mocked, "Time hasn't been kind to you, huh?"

He turned around, ready to leave the scene when suddenly, he heard a puff sound from behind. Kamishiro turned around and saw that the corpse of Mashiro was gone, replaced by a puff of thick white smoke.

"W-What—"

Before he could discern what was going on, the puff of smoke was torn open, and a man emerged from the smoke, Mashiro.

His fist was cocked back, ready to be released once he was close enough.

At that moment, Kamishiro's mind raced as he tried to calculate the best course of action. Because he knew, once he got struck by that fist, his life would cease.

After all, he didn't train in taijutsu, he didn't even train his body to withstand an attack from a chunin, let alone a battle-hardened Elite Jonin.

When the fist of Mashiro neared his face, a large crocodile-like puppet emerged from the ground a few feet behind him. It opened its mouth and threw out a wooden tongue that extended to him, catching him and retracting him from the battle.

Whoosh!

The punch missed, but Mashiro didn't care. He rushed toward Kamishiro once again and caught up.

Grabbing the tongue of the puppet, he pulled it with all his might and destroyed it, finally catching Kamishiro.

Mashiro gripped Kamishiro's neck tightly, "Like father like son." He smiled and recalled the previous battle with Kamishiro's father, "You both fell from the same trick. I just recently learned it, who could've guessed it would be this useful?"

The grip tightened, and as Kamishiro accepted his fate, a voice rang out, "Father! Let me have him as a prisoner!"

Everyone turned around and saw a little kid no older than five, Taro Hosai.

Mashiro frowned, "Taro?" His gaze turned back to Kamishiro, "What do you want from this kid, his ninjutsu?"

Taro walked toward the two and said, "No, but he does have some uses."

Four days later.

Four days passed and the news of Hosai's conquest spread throughout the Land of Wind, and many powerhouses began to keep their eyes on the Hosai clan.

Although small, they had been at the pinnacle of the Land of Wind.

In one of the Wama clans, one of the major clans, a man sitting on the floor smoking from a pipe was handed a letter from one of his men.

Upon reading the letter, a flicker of amusement appeared in his eyes, "Hmm… So, has that brat Kise finally made his move?"

The ninja who handed the man the letter spoke, "It would seem so."

The man chuckled, "But how did they unify the surrounding clans so fast? From what I remember, Atakichi is as stubborn as an ox, and so is his daughter. There's no way they allied with the Hosai peacefully."

The man took another puff of smoke and continued, "And Daihi… I heard his entire clan was subdued in just a few days. The Hosai and the Hebidoku clan are on par, and so is their patriarch, so how?"

The ninja answered, "We don't know. Because of the recent war with the Fu clan, I had to recall all available ninjas back to our clan."

The man sneered, "It doesn't matter." He threw the pipe on the wall and a murderous intent came off him, "At most, they'll just be another pesky minor clan, there's no need to bother with them. Instead, we need to focus more on the Fu clan."

-------------------------

Fu clan meeting hall.

Three figures sat across from each other with solemn faces. The three were the current patriarch of the Fu clan and his two most trusted elders.

On the table lay a piece of paper, and as the three stared at the paper, all gave it a solemn look.

The left elder sighed, "The Hosai Clan has made an unexpected move…"

The right elder nodded, "Indeed. This is truly troublesome. Since we border the Hebidoku clan, and they are now under the control of a united Hosai, we must stay vigilant." He sighed once again and said, "But with the war with the Wama clan, we'll be stretched thin."

"Not necessarily," the quiet patriarch finally spoke, confusing the two elders.

Seeing the confusion in the elders' eyes, the patriarch took out a map from his sleeve and placed it on the table, "The Hosai clan has allied with the Netsudoku and the Hoki clan, making them a power we can't ignore."

He pointed at the Hebidoku clan territory and continued, "However, after the conquest of Hebidoku, they would surely need resources. They won't have enough food to sustain the two clans, and so they will need a massive amount of money."

The two elders' eyes lit up, making the patriarch smirk, "They plundered the Hebidoku clan of its wealth without a doubt, but the Hebidoku are poor, so they'll need more. And with the power of the three alliances of Hosai, Netsudoku, and Hoki, alongside Hebidoku, we can hire them and have a formidable ally against the Wama clan."

The elder on the right jolted in excitement, "That's a marvelous plan!" He looked at the two people inside the room with a massive smile as if they already won, "With this, we can surely win against Wama who doesn't have allies or hired clans!"

The elder on the left nodded, "I'll personally go to the Hosai clan and form good relations." He paused and looked at the patriarch, "But how much are we paying them?"

The patriarch pondered for a moment before answering, "30 million ryo should do. Although it's not a small sum, it's worth it as we need the Hosai allies in this war too."

The two nodded and the meeting was adjourned.

Kaze Clan patriarch room.

The current Kaze clan patriarch read the letters given to him earlier. At first, his eyes widened in shock at the speed at which the Hebidoku clan got conquered.

Then a smile formed not from malice or amusement, but from relief.

He looked outside his window and said, "Well master, it seems your clan isn't meant to vanish in the annals of history after all."

He stood up and burnt the letter on the candle, and walked outside of his room.

"I wonder, am I still welcomed in that clan?"
