Naruto looked at the paper test in front of him. This was not what he'd expected, in fact it had been extremely easy. With Hinata right next to him, he'd simply looked at her sheet to make sure he'd gotten his own answer correct. Not wanting to give up the idiot facade, Naruto made it seem that he was struggling.
Sasuke on the other hand, simply mimicked the hand movements of someone who knew what they were doing. Doing this without the sharingan was a pain, but he managed to figure out the answers. The real struggle had been figuring out what script he'd written afterwards, and decoding his own handwriting. The ten question was the most confusing one though, not to be given until the exam was already over.
Sakura barely even blinked. She knew the theory behind each and every question, barely breaking a sweat over it. Her worry was more on Naruto and Sasuke, who weren't known bookworms.
Raito realized the point was to gather information and so cast a genjutsu on the entire room, one using the light to make him seem invisible. There he stole the already answered sheet from the front of the room and sat back down. The only person who noticed the genjutsu was Ibiki Morino and the special Jonin grinned at the use of such technique.
Karasu had a crow give him the information by pecking the glass roof with the morse code of the answers. It was once again extremely easy. He decided to recline and relax for the rest of the test time. He watched as teams were eliminated, fifteen cells in total, resulting in much less people than had originally arrived.
Aoi had an even easier time, activating her Magan, she copied the muscle movement of Sakura, who sat right in front of her. It was a simple strategy that required very little trickery to maneuver.
Before they knew Ibiki was presenting the tenth question.
"For the tenth question there are two absolutes you must follow. The first is, you can refuse to answer the question and walk out here with your team and fail…"
Naruto asked the obvious question, "Now what dumbass would pick that decision?"
"Because the second absolute is if you choose to answer and you fail, you will never be allowed to take the Chunin exams again."
Sakura replied, "Wait, that can't be true! Some've taken the exam multiple times before."
Ibiki replied, "I was not the exam proctor in those years. Unlucky draw for you, I am the decision maker this year."
Immediately, ten more team cells raised their hands to leave. As the room got quieter and people considered their decision, Naruto whispered to Hinata.
"Don't raise your hand, Hinata, this is a trick. They want us to prove our dedication to the shinobi life."
Hinata nodded shyly, and a blush came to her face.
She replied, "Y-Yes, Naruto-kun. I agree…"
Naruto smiled at Hinata with warmth that he was even surprised by. He'd never noticed it, but Hinata was by no means ugly. He filed that away in his mind for a date later down the line as he saw the exam come to a close. He looked around. Out of 165 genin, it seemed only 90 were remaining after deciding if they wanted to answer the final question.
Ibiki spoke, "It seems all 90 of you here passed! Congrats!"
Sakura smacked her hand against her face, and looked to Naruto who was completely unfazed by the announcement. She listened to Ibiki explain what the test was about and found out really quickly that the entire test had been a sham place upon the tenth question. After seeing the man's head she was not thrilled and found herself promising herself to not get captured at all.
Shikamaru looked around the room, taking in the rest of the contestants. Raito was asleep, Sasuke listened intently as well, and Naruto was trying to talk to Hinata. Choji was already snacking on another pack of chips. Ino was looking at Sasuke hoping for the Uchiha to look back at her. As he was moving back towards himself, Shikamaru caught Raito's eye and saw the wink the boy gave him. Shikamaru hid a grin and pretended to sleep himself throughout the rest of Ibiki's rant.
As Ibiki was finishing speaking, a bundle crashed through the window, and a purple sheet appeared in front of Ibiki. In front of said sheet, a woman wearing a brown jacket and a fishnet undergarment appeared. Over the fishnet, she wore a brown skirt that covered very little and gave the dirtier minds a slight nosebleed.
"Listen up, you brats! The second exam proctor is here! Mitarashi Anko! You've nothing to celebrate for the second exam will cut your numbers in half! Haha!"
Raito listened while pretending to be asleep.
"Ibiki, there's fucking 90 of them! What'd you do? Sleep?"
"We've got some gutsy shinobi, what can I say?"
"Uh-huh. Follow me, you half-dead brats!"
The entire room followed the woman, with very little questions.
As the group arrived at the training ground, they saw massive locks covering the metal fence, which alone was four times as tall as Naruto. Behind said fences were massive trees entwined on the surface of rocks.
Anko stood in front of the group, a small shed stood off to the side, shading a few proctors that were inside. Naruto listened to the woman explain the exam, and as she got to explaining the consent forms, Naruto realized she'd meant business. She'd told them half of them would be cut; this was that moment, and Naruto could feel the blood pumping out of his heart. Things were about to get very exciting, and the grin began to spread on his face.
Naruto and his team handed in their consent form before heading to gate 13, as the team checked their scroll and hid it. The Chunin guarding the gate opened and let them inside.
Sasuke immediately jumped into the forest, Naruto and Sakura following behind in a triangular formation. Naruto was grinning, and Sasuke looked around with concern, scanning the area for enemy ninja. Sakura also scanned.
Somewhere close to the gatehouse, Raito and his team stood at the entrance, holding both a Heaven and Earth scroll. They'd found a Sunagakure team and killed them with little difficulty, taking their Earth scroll. Raito had simply moved them, forcing the team to get to the tower as quickly as time allowed.
Raito opened the scrolls and was immediately allowed into the tower. He and his team decided to rest as they waited the rest of the five days out.
In the Jonin lounge, the Jonin, from all over the shinobi nations, sat. Those from the same nation made themselves into a circle as they talked and discussed the happenings. However, the conversation was halted as five hours into the second exam, a chunin announced that the first team had already arrived.
One jonin, from Sunagakure, asked, "What village's team did it?"
"A team from Datogakure, containing Raito and Karasu Arashi, and Aoi Kento."
Kakashi raised an eyebrow at that. The speed of a team to cross ten kilometers and fight off another team to gain a scroll was rare. Especially in less than one hour, Kakashi looked at the other Konoha Jonin, who had a concerned look on their faces. This team was a clear potential threat if they could move that quickly and with such ease.
Asuma decided to say, "Kakashi, that's Naruto's rival. The one I showed you the bingo book bounty for."
Kakashi replied, "Damn. What kind of shinobi program exists in Datogakure to build such a shinobi? Was he not a level three threat? This is extremely good to note. I'll make sure to observe them in the inevitable preliminary round."
