Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 - Her vengeance , His oath

Asher gently put Cindery into the car and covered her lower body with his jacket. "Such a gentleman," she thought. During their journey, the weather became blessed with scant rain and a cool, sweet breeze, good enough for anyone to be mesmerized by nature. Similarly, it made Cindery look out of the window, exposing her back, full of scars, to Asher for a good view, all thanks to the backless dress forced onto her. Asher, with a sympathetic eye, looked at her and moved a bit closer. He patted her head, making her look at him. "What's with that look?" she murmured. He gently asked, "Your back..." Before he could complete his sentence, she placed her hand on his lips, saying, "Don't mention it; it's a reward for standing up for yourself late." "Is it your so-called family?" he inquired. "Yes, or who else would it be?"

After a moment, she asked him to drop her off aside, but he refused saying,"Little girl, I just freed you from hell, and you're so eager to run off?"

"Don't worry, this world is not enough to eat me alive."

"I know, but I need to go with you, or you come with me."

"Why? I don't even know you completely yet."

"Yeah, we both don't know each other completely."

"How about beginning your new world with me? I won't break you; I'll burn whoever tries to harm you."

"Is it a promise? You better not promise something you can't do."

The quiet weather after the rain and the darkness of night, with the driver taking maneuvers, made things spice up as both were getting close to each other again and again.

He asked, "If I let you go, where will you go? Do you have a home?"

"Home?... I've lost it long ago."

"Then come with me; make my villa your home."

This made her eyes fill with tears, although her mind kept raising questions, "You want to try again?" But she gave him her hand, lowering down her barrier a bit. His warm hands made her cold veins contain some warmth; his tight hold made her feel like there's someone who will really want her, not just like some selfish people. Meanwhile, her eyes paused at him as he used his warmth to warm her hands.

"So when are you starting your plan?"

"My vengeance—it started long ago.", "Now the person who lived in hell will make others' life hell.", She added.

As the car pulled to a stop in front of a luxurious mansion, Asher and Cindery stepped out. Asher narrowed his eyes and murmured, "Usually, there are so many servants to welcome me. No one today." He called the butler, but received no answer. He asked Cindery to wait and went to check.

As he approached the door, a man in a suit, covered by a raincoat, emerged, coughing, followed by several women in servants' attire. Asher stopped him. "What's going on? Why is it so dark inside?"

The butler replied, "Young master, there's an issue with the house's power supply and wiring. Earlier today, some servants got slight shocks from appliances."

Asher, concerned, asked, "So where do I go now? You should have informed me earlier. You know my properties are all in prime locations, and the next house is about 250 km away in the opposite direction."

Cindery, who had been watching Asher worried from outside, came in and learned about the situation. She said, "See my bad luck is draining you as well? It's not too late to abandon me."

"You really underestimate me. Let's get in the car; we need to go in the opposite direction."

"We don't need to; it's too far away." Asher ordered his butler to bring him a first-aid box. Cindery took his hand and entered the mansion directly in front of Asher's villa.

Before he could stop her, they went in. Asher pulled her back, grabbed her by the waist. She looked at him with suspicion as he said, "It's not mine. You can't break into someone else's house like that."

She exclaimed, "Who told you that we've barged in?"

"You mean, you own it?"

She nodded yes.

"Your hell family bought you this?"

"No, they don't even let me carry a phone. Whatever I have is bought with my own money, earned with my own hands," she explained enthusiastically. She put her hand on his shoulder. "There's much more that you can't find by inquiring about me. There's much more hidden behind."
