Chapter 17 - The New Covenant

In the narrow, trash-strewn alleys, groups of survivors began to emerge from the darkness.

A survivor, his face smudged with soot but his eyes alight with a fierce, unstable determination, spoke to the small crowd gathering around a pile of salvaged tools.

"We will not allow another ideology, another system, to dictate the terms of our new future. The fight for liberty is not won by a crash. It is won by construction. We are the architects now."

They began to clear the wreckage, their movements tentative at first, then growing more deliberate, imbued with the sharp, difficult promise of self-determination.

The screen holds on the nascent assembly of people, now architects of their own fate.

The screen cuts to absolute black.

Sound: A deep, sustained, hopeful chord of synthesized music.

Voiceover (Saira, cold and controlled): "Freedom is not a gift; it is a battle. And we have only just begun the first skirmish."

FADE OUT.
