Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: HK416’s Mental Freeze

"I'm sorry, Everyone knows white-haired girls are top tier! If I had to watch a silver-haired beauty get executed right in front of me, I couldn't live with it!"

Lux shouted sincerely.

"Yeah, yeah, the Commander's absolutely right. Look, we're all white-haired. Fighting among ourselves is bad, you know? And if you shoot me, Commander might go down with me. Besides, 416, you wouldn't want to leave a scary impression in the Commander's heart, right?"

MDR seized the chance to add on. Though she was known as a savage keyboard warrior online, with a gun aimed at her head, she folded instantly.

"I understand… then, Commander, do you like me too?"

HK416 sighed, disengaged the safety, and lowered the gun.

"Of course! I've dreamed of meeting you!"

Lux answered without a shred of shame.

"I-is that so…"

HK416 blushed slightly and walked over, pulling Lux up from the floor.

"Ow, ow, ow… Wah, this commander who exploits wages and confiscates phones is seriously awful. Being a Tactical Doll is such a tough job."

MDR complained with a pout after standing up.

"I'll give your phone back, but you can't shitposts about me and HK. You can use other material."

Lux took out the phone. Even though MDR's plan had gone too far, seeing her aggrieved expression made it hard for him to be cruel.

"Really?! Commander, you're actually a great person!"

A black blur shot forward. In the blink of an eye, MDR was right in front of Lux, gripping his hands tightly and staring excitedly at the phone.

Creak…

A chilling sound leaked from HK416's mouth. Both Lux and MDR felt an invisible pressure.

"Here, take it."

Fully aware of HK416's temperament, Lux quickly returned the phone to MDR.

"Commander, I strongly advise that we evacuate this base as soon as possible. During your unconscious period, I investigated the food supplies in this house. They will only last you three days. We must find more supplies immediately."

"So please go clean yourself in the bathroom. We should depart as soon as possible."

HK416 resumed her calm, professional tone.

"Huh?"

Only then did Lux realize something was wrong. He had thought he'd arrived in an anime world, but now he noticed the familiar furniture around him.

And the air was still filled with the nightmare-like stench of blood that had haunted him for the past two days.

"So that means I didn't die?"

Lux quickly came to a rough understanding of what had happened.

"Yeah, yeah. If you'd died, Miss MDR would've had to die along with that hot-tempered HK416. That would've been way too tragic."

MDR nodded in agreement from the side.

"Wait, if I died, would it affect you two? Not to brag, but I'm basically a total deadweight. I'd just drag you both down."

After realizing the situation, Lux said helplessly.

If MDR and HK416—two characters he liked—ended up getting torn apart by zombies outside because he was too useless, that would be more painful than killing him outright.

He had already prepared himself to die earlier. He didn't want to cause more trouble for these two beautiful gun girls before that.

"Please stop saying such foolish things, Commander. Our rations and ammunition are refreshed daily through you. Without you, MDR and I would run out of supplies within three days."

HK416 replied calmly.

"There are many convenience stores in this city. The disaster has only just begun, so there should be plenty of food inside. With your combat abilities, acquiring basic rations shouldn't be difficult."

"As for ammunition, we can conserve it…"

"Then what's your plan?"

HK416 interrupted Lux directly and asked.

"Huh? Suicide, I guess… This world is a bit too cruel. Honestly, it's not suitable for a useless shut-in like me to survive. You can take all the food and bottled water in the house with you…"

Lux said bitterly.

"I understand. Then the mission is revised: assist the Commander in finding eternal rest, followed by self-destruction procedures. Any objections, MDR?"

HK416 aimed her gun at Lux.

"Ahh, even though I'd still like to wander around outside and shitpost a bit more, if it's an order, there's nothing I can do. I agree."

MDR shrugged, speaking casually.

"Hey, wait, wait. You two could clearly survive better on your own."

Lux reached out and pushed HK416's gun barrel aside, speaking in a panic. He didn't want things to escalate to the point of both of them self-destructing.

"This order will not be accepted. Either the Commander retreats with us, or we die together."

HK416 gave the two options without hesitation.

"Then we go together. We go together."

Lux chose instantly.

"Ahaha, Commander, then hurry up and clean the charcoal off your body."

MDR handed over a mirror.

Lux looked at his reflection: hair blown into an explosive mess from the electric shock, his face covered in black, charred residue and grime. A wave of nausea hit him immediately.

So he'd been talking to HK416 and MDR this whole time looking like this. He suddenly felt like dying all over again.

After quickly taking a cold shower and scrubbing off the filth, Lux suddenly felt that his body seemed a bit stronger than before.

"Hey, system, are you there?"

While showering, Lux asked in his mind.

According to the novels he'd read, this was usually how cheats were activated. Though considering that system's schadenfreude when he was being electrocuted…

[Host, please ask your question directly. Don't ask idiotic things like whether I'm here]

To Lux's surprise, a reply came instantly. The system's disdainful tone made him extremely unhappy.

"Huh?? You bastard, you're looking down on me? What kind of attitude is that?!"

An angry shout burst out of Lux.

Click.

The next moment, the bolt on the bathroom door popped open, the door was yanked apart violently, and HK416 burst in with her gun raised, already in combat stance.

"Commander! Which intruder dares—to—to—to—to—to—to—to—to—to—to—to—to—to—to—to—to—to—to—to—to—to—to—to—to!!!"

Seeing Lux completely naked, HK416's face flushed bright red as she entered a total system freeze.

"Oh! Perfect timing!"

MDR, her face slightly red, excitedly switched her phone to camera mode and started snapping photos.

"Hey, hey, hey, don't take pictures, you bastard!"

Lux nearly had a mental breakdown along with HK416. With a troublemaker like MDR around, his future looked incredibly bleak.
