Chapter 93 - Sanctuary After the Storm)

The silence of the night had grown heavy. Kaiya and her husband, Nan Pan, were sitting on their living room sofa, conversing in low, hushed tones. The atmosphere was peaceful until the sudden, frantic ringing of the doorbell shattered the tranquility.

Kaiya checked the clock—who could it be at this hour? The moment she pulled the door open, her eyes widened in shock. Anya stood there, dark circles shadowing her eyes, her nose and cheeks flushed a raw crimson from crying. In her hand, she clutched a small suitcase.

Anya said nothing. The moment she saw Kaiya, her remaining strength vanished. She collapsed onto Kaiya's shoulder, sobbing uncontrollably. The sound of her ragged gasps filled the room.

Kaiya ushered her inside. Her heart sank at the sight of Anya's disheveled clothes, tangled hair, and the dark blue bruises blooming on her wrist.

Kaiya: (Her voice trembling) "Anya... what is all this? Did that Zain do something to you? Look at the state of you..."

Nan Pan, who was well aware of Zain's immense power and volatile temper, stood up abruptly, lines of worry etched across his face. He knew that if Anya was here, Zain would likely turn all of Shenzhen upside down to find her.

Nan Pan: "Zain will search everywhere for you, Anya. He isn't the kind of man to sit still."

Kaiya guided Anya to the sofa, pressing a glass of water into her shaking hands. In a broken voice, Anya recounted everything—Ruan Jian's trap, the assault on the rooftop, and the most agonizing blow of all: Zain's suspicion.

Anya: (Through tears) "He doubted me, Kaiya... he called me 'characterless.' The man I gave my everything to put me on the same level as that monster. Ruan... he used Zain's phone, and Zain branded me a sinner without a second thought."

Hearing this, Kaiya's eyes filled with a mixture of fury and grief. She pulled Anya back into a protective embrace, stroking her hair and wiping away the hot tears with her fingers.

Kaiya: "Shhh... that's enough. That man doesn't deserve you. He became a 'Wolf' and hunted you, but you are safe here."

Anya was completely shattered. She sobbed into Kaiya's lap like a small child. The wounds on her soul were far deeper than the injuries on her body. She feared Zain would find her even here, but for now, Kaiya's maternal touch provided a flicker of relief.

Scene 2: The Desperate Hunt

The night in Shenzhen now felt like a cold graveyard. Zain was scouring the streets like a maddened predator, checking every alley and corner Anya frequented. His eyes were bloodshot with regret, and a shiver of dread rattled his soul.

Huan Jing reached Anya's old house first, her heart hammering against her ribs. She pounded on the door with trembling hands. "Anya! Open up, it's me!" But she was met only with a haunting silence. She went to the park where Anya often sat in the evenings, findng only empty benches and dry leaves swirling in the wind.

Everywhere, Qian, Huan Jing, and dozens of Zain's bodyguards were fanning out across the city. The air was filled with the static crackle of wireless radios: "Not here!", "Sector 4 is clear—no sign of her!"

On a street corner, Huan Jing finally broke down. Tears spilled over as Qian stepped forward to steady her, pulling her into a supportive hug.

Qian: (Softly) "Calm down, Huan... we will find her. She's brave; she must be safe somewhere."

Huan Jing rested her head on Qian's chest, but her voice was laced with bitterness toward Zain.

Huan Jing: "This is all because of the Boss, Qian! How could he trust his eyes so much that he crushed Anya's heart? She's my best friend... and he humiliated her like a criminal. If anything happens to her, I will never forgive him."

Qian had no answer. He knew that tonight, the 'Wolf' had extinguished the light in his own home. Standing by his car in the distance, Zain overheard her words. His face turned to stone, but the depths of his eyes reflected total devastation. He checked his watch—time was slipping away, and Anya was still a ghost. He realized the woman he had treated as 'property' was, in fact, the very air he breathed, and he was suffocating without her.

Scene 3: A Moment of Normalcy

Kaiya and Nan Pan worked together to lift the heavy atmosphere. Kaiya fetched a first-aid kit and, with extreme tenderness, applied ointment to Anya's scraped knees and palms. When the medicine stung, Anya winced, but Kaiya shushed her lovingly.

Kaiya gave Anya her softest, most comfortable clothes to wear. When Anya emerged after washing up, Kaiya and Nan Pan were in the kitchen preparing dinner. Nan Pan began to crack jokes to lighten the mood.

Kaiya: "Anya, I'm making those same noodles and soup you loved back in college. Remember?"

The three sat at the dining table. Initially, Anya was silent, but as Kaiya began to recount stories from their college days, a faint, flickering smile finally touched Anya's sorrowful face. Kaiya reminded them how she and Huan Jing used to tease Kaiya and Nan Pan relentlessly.

Kaiya: "Anya, remember when Nan Pan took me on our first date? You and Huan Jing sat at the table behind us wearing fake mustaches just to annoy us!"

Nan Pan: (Laughing) "Yes! And you told the waiter to put extra chilies in my food just to ruin my date. You two made my life a living hell!"

Anya tilted her head with a small, genuine giggle. Those old pranks, the tiny "mini-parties" they used to have in their hostel rooms—those memories acted as a balm on the wounds Zain had inflicted. Nan Pan filled their glasses with juice, and they shared a toast, like a small reunion party.

Anya felt that there were still people in the world who loved her unconditionally. Her eyes were still misty, but a sense of peace had finally settled within her.

Scene 4: The Truth in a Text

Outside, the streets were still vibrating with the sound of Zain's fleet. Zain stopped his car and tried to trace the last location of Anya's phone on his laptop, his face dark with remorse.

Zain: (In a cold, heavy voice) "Anya... even if you hide in the depths of the earth, I will find you. And this time, I won't give you a chance to run."

Just then, Nan Pan, sitting in the darkness of his home, decided it was time to intervene. He hoped Zain's temper had cooled and realized the truth needed to be told.

Nan Pan's Message: "Zain, don't worry. Anya is at my house and she is perfectly safe."

Sitting in his car staring at the city lights, Zain felt his phone vibrate. As he read the message, his breath finally returned to him, though his heart was still gripped by fear.

Zain's Reply: "Is she crying?"

Nan Pan: "No, she's a little better now. But when she arrived, she had several injuries and was completely broken."

Zain's heart sank. He immediately asked: "Did Kaiya apply medicine to her wounds?"

Nan Pan snapped a photo of Anya sitting with Kaiya, sharing a small, weary smile as they reminisced. He sent the photo to Zain. Tears welled in Zain's eyes as he looked at it. He was starving for that smile, yet he knew he had shattered her trust.

Zain: "Let her stay there tonight. She needs peace. I will come to get her tomorrow morning."

Zain immediately called Qian.

Zain: "Qian, Anya has been found. She's at Kaiya and Nan Pan's place. Inform Huan Jing so she stops worrying. Recall all the guards."

Zain returned to his desolate mansion. The moment he opened the bedroom door, the scene replayed before him—Anya's slap, her scream, and her pained voice: "I am not your prey!"

He looked at the spot on the floor where Anya had spread the sheet. He sat there, touching the fabric as if he could still feel her presence. His ego was now completely pulverized. A servant entered with a tray.

Servant: "Sir, it's time for dinner. You haven't eaten since evening."

Zain didn't even glance at the food. He closed his eyes and waited for morning. He knew tomorrow would be his greatest test—bringing Anya back and begging for her forgiveness.

Scene 5: The Sisterhood Bonds

The moment Huan Jing learned from Qian that Anya was safe, she felt life return to her. She didn't want to waste a single second. Cutting through the silence of the night, Qian's car pulled up outside Kaiya's house.

Qian stopped the car but didn't go inside. He watched the glowing lights of Kaiya's home from a distance and took a deep breath. He knew that at this moment, Anya didn't need any of Zain's men—she needed her sisters. He quietly drove away.

Inside, the door burst open and Huan Jing charged in like a whirlwind. Seeing Anya safe on the sofa, the dam of her tears finally broke. She lunged at Anya, hugging her so tightly that Anya struggled to breathe.

Huan Jing: (Between sobs) "Where did you go, you crazy girl? Who just disappears like that? Do you have any idea what I went through?"

Anya rested her head on Huan Jing's back. Her eyes held a strange exhaustion—the kind of fatigue that sleep cannot cure.

Anya: (In a low, distant voice) "I'm just tired, Huan... why are the names Zain and Ruan Jian written in my fate? One wants to possess me, and the other doesn't trust me."

Kaiya entered the room. Seeing the atmosphere becoming too emotional, she placed her hands on her hips in her signature style. Seeing Huan Jing still sobbing, Kaiya stepped forward and firmly twisted Huan Jing's ear.

Huan Jing: "Ah! Kaiya! Let go, that hurts!"

Kaiya: "So you finally found time to visit her? You searched the whole city and forgot your own friend's house?"

With her other hand, Kaiya lightly pinched Anya's ear too. Anya, who had been weeping, jolted from the pinch.

Kaiya: "And you! Are you crying again? Didn't I just make you laugh? Shut it now, or I'll twist the other ear too!"

Anya and Huan Jing both yelped in unison— "Ah! Stop it, Kaiya!"

Kaiya pulled her hands back and wagged a finger with the authority of an elder sister. A mischievous yet stern smile played on her lips.

Kaiya: "Don't you scream at me! Remember, I'm older than both of you. Huan Jing, I'm a year older than you, and Anya, I've got two years on you! Understood? Listen to your big sister and stop this blubbering!"

Anya crinkled her red nose and looked at Huan Jing. Both had tears in their eyes, but smiles had finally broken through. The tension in the room transformed into that familiar college-day mischief. Outside, the cold Shenzhen wind blew, but inside, there was only the warmth of three sisters' love.

Anya took Kaiya and Huan Jing's hands. She knew Zain would come in the morning, but tonight, she wanted to live simply as 'Anya,' not as 'Zain Yan's wife.'
