Chapter 170 - [170] Igniting the Flames of the First Evening Study Session

As Argus spoke, he took out the prepared materials and handed them to Slughorn.

Slughorn noticed, however, that when Argus pulled out the materials, Dumbledore's full name was written on a tattered notebook in his bag!

He was unaware of the deal between Argus and Dumbledore, and only assumed that Dumbledore had given his notebook to Argus because he admired his talent!

Slughorn had the opportunity to become Minister for Magic, but he knew he wasn't cut out for it, and he just wanted a comfortable and enjoyable life, so he didn't run for office.

But this was enough to demonstrate his connections and shrewdness!

Thinking about Dumbledore's youth, he subconsciously imagined Dumbledore's attitude toward Argus.

His opinion of Argus rose to a whole new level!

He took the materials from Argus and glanced through them briefly.

He nodded with a broad smile.

"Very good, Argus!"

"With you here, I can save myself a lot of trouble."

"It's what I should do, Professor."

"Let's go eat first, just a little bit, save some room." Slughorn gave Argus a knowing look.

He then walked toward the professor's chair.

...

One hour later.

Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom.

The classroom, which could accommodate students from two houses, was now overflowing with people.

Almost the entire Slytherin fifth and seventh years were present!

"Argus, talk to the prefects of each house and ask them to maintain order."

"I'll go find a bigger classroom."

Slughorn hadn't expected Argus to hold such a high place in the hearts of the Slytherin members.

Both fifth and seventh years were present.

"Yes, Professor!"

Argus gently tapped his throat with his wand.

"Everyone, please be quiet."

"Don't worry if there are no seats available."

"Later, we will move to a larger classroom."

"Prefects of all houses, please guide and maintain order in your respective houses!"

The classroom gradually quieted down, and the four prefects, including Percy and Gemma Farley, stepped forward to settle the members of their respective houses.

The new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor's first club activity was to tutor fifth and seventh years.

Regardless of whether these prefects needed it or not, they would definitely come and take a look.

About five minutes later, Slughorn returned to the classroom and, guided by Argus and the four prefects, led the group of upperclassmen to a small auditorium.

"Each house prefect should count the number of students in their respective house according to their year, and then come to me to collect the materials."

Argus was very fortunate that all the prefects from the four houses were present this time; otherwise, it would have taken him forever to distribute the materials by himself!

The four prefects had already counted almost all the people when they first maintained order.

After counting everyone, Argus aimed his wand at the materials he had prepared.

"Duplicate in pairs!"

Swish swish swish swish!

A large pile of materials flew into the hands of the various house prefects one after another, and the seamless move made many people tremble.

"Percy, can you do what Argus did?"

Penelope leaned close to Percy's ear and asked in a voice only the two of them could hear.

"Duplicating is simple, but this was not just duplicating; it also included a silent, wandless casting of a Summoning Charm."

"Don't even mention me—even an Auror from the Ministry of Magic probably couldn't pull it off."

Percy was, after all, a member of the Weasley family and a Hogwarts prefect.

His vision was much sharper.

"Luckily, we're not in the same year as him," Penelope said with a wry smile.

She had seen Ravenclaw's state after her Defense Against the Dark Arts class that day, and her admiration for Argus.

She initially thought it was an exaggeration.

Now it seemed... if it weren't for the fact that they were in lower years and their horizons weren't broadened, they probably would have praised Argus to the skies long ago.

She couldn't believe how much pressure it must have been to be in the same year as him.

She glanced at Gemma Farley with pity, then walked toward the upperclassmen of Ravenclaw with the materials in hand.

"Quiet down, everyone!" Argus's ability to control the situation was beyond question.

With a wave of his wand, the entire auditorium fell silent instantly.

"What you are holding now are the most frequently appearing questions in O.W.L. and N.E.W.T. exams in recent years."

"Through these key topics, you can quickly identify and fill in any gaps in your knowledge and make up for your shortcomings."

"You have one hour to complete the questions. After one hour, Professor Slughorn will announce the correct answers and explain some of the difficult points."

As soon as he finished speaking, many people expressed their confusion.

"Is this thing even useful?"

"We're here to learn how to defend against the Dark Arts? What can we learn by just doing practice tests!"

"Yeah! If I'd known it was something like this, I wouldn't have come!"

This kind of exam-oriented teaching was not popular in the UK, and people didn't frantically cram the same questions every day in order to pass the exam.

Therefore, everyone present did not understand the club's act of distributing the test papers.

"If you feel that the club's review methods are not suitable, you can leave at any time; we will not force you."

When confronted with questions, Argus offered no explanation.

Instead, he generously allowed those who wanted to leave to exit the auditorium.

He didn't owe them anything! What did it matter to him whether they passed or not?

If they couldn't even see through this simple trick, they weren't smart people.

Even if they stayed, it would be of little help to them in the future.

All he needed was for those who passed the exams to be grateful to him!

Several people exchanged glances, as if they had made a decision at the same time.

Pretending not to see the warning look from her prefect, one girl left the auditorium indifferently.

With them taking the lead, even more people left.

In five minutes, about one-fifth of the group had gone.

They were all students from the other three houses.

It was worth noting that nearly half of the members who came that day were from Slytherin.

The remaining half consisted of the other three houses.

In other words, about half of the students from those three houses left!

Seeing that most of the people who wanted to leave had gone, Argus waved his hand, and the auditorium doors closed in response.

While the students in the auditorium were engrossed in their work, he took out the notes that Dumbledore had given him and began to study.

Time passed by, second by second.

Argus was so engrossed in Dumbledore's notes that he didn't realize it was almost time for their appointment.

It wasn't until Percy, who was nearby, reminded him that he snapped out of his reverie.

"Dumbledore is indeed a master of Transfiguration; his analysis of the soul and essence has reached an unimaginable level."

"If there hadn't been a shortage of time, he probably might have actually managed to extract Voldemort's soul from Harry."

Argus thought to himself.

Seeing that it was almost time, he put the notes back in his bag and reminded Slughorn, who was enjoying tea next to him.

Slughorn put down his teacup with a hint of regret.

He picked up the exam paper made of sheepskin and stood on the podium.

"Little wizards, your time has come."

"It's my turn to make an appearance!"
