2019 was a big year for Abdullah. The apartment was becoming cramped for a family of five. Not to mention Abdullah's mother became pregnant again.
The build up to the moving day was strange he saw his mother getting tired breathing heavy trying to pack everything Abdullah and Ali hated to see her like this. So, they tried their best to help their mom pack up. The smile on their mother's face made it worth it.
Eventually the day came. They were woken up in the night. Confused and disorientated.
Abdullah says "mama where are we going"
"To our new house it's a really nice place" she replied softly with a smile.
A small spark of excitement hit him.
They drove passed tall trees. Turned left past houses they parked, and Abdullah was taken inside alongside their siblings tucked into the biggest bed still exhausted they soon fell asleep. After his mother kissed their forehead and did a prayer.
In the morning, he explored the house three bedrooms one for his parents and sister another for him and Ali and one spare. There was a normal kitchen and living room that needed furniture. The garden had no fence he could've walked into the neighbour's section
He didn't though because he was scared. Scared they would get mad at him.
"I wonder who lives here though" Abdullah thought to himself.
Later he saw his dads talking to some workers there was no internet, so he was bored then something unexpected happened. His father forgot to close the door, so a dog came running inside.
Abdullah panicked sprinting outside his brother ran upstairs and his sister and mother went atop a table while his dad tried to lead the dog outside.
Abdullah saw a girl and a boy not much younger than him outside.
The boy said to Abdullah's father while grabbing the dog by its collar.
"Sorry he escaped again"
Abdullahs father nodded seriously and replied "try to keep it under control"
"it's he" the boy corrected confidently.
Abdullah was shocked most kids would've been scared to correct him even Abdullah was sometimes, and he lived with the guy. His father simply scoffed and went inside.
The next day Abdullah put on a yellow jacket and went outside because he was bored, he saw the same kid again wearing the same jacket but a size down holding a box of rocks.
"HEY, YOU COME OVER HERE" the boy yelled
Abdullah walked over and said "yeah"
"I saw you yesterday nice jacket you got there. What's your name" replied the boy
"I'm Abdullah" Abdullah replied
"Oh, weird name imo skar by the way, anyway, want to buy a rock" replied Oskar
Abdullah took the comment as an insult but asked "how much?"
Oskar replied "5 cents"
Abdullah stared at him blankly
"Is this kid stupid who's going to buy a rock" thought Abdullah.
Abdullah just says "alright that's cool"
Oskar smiled ear to ear like he just won something. Abdullah went home that day thinking
"What a weird kid"
The next time Abdullah and Oskar interacted was once he was selling his toys, and this time people were trying to buy things. Abdullah came with his brother to see Ali steal money from Oskar to buy toys with his own money.
When they went home Abdullah tried to teach Ali that stealing is wrong.
Ali just replies, "its only ten cents" and walks away.
That night Abdullah went to sleep and woke up to snow. Him his brother went into the garden throwing snowballs at each other and playing in the snow dressed warmly later Abdullah was bored and went outside.
"ABDULLAH" shouted Oskar
"what" replied Abdullah
"I know something really fun we can do" Oskar said
Then Abdullah followed Oskar to a towering metal pole in a dumpsite near them he saw Oskar climb the thing. Thinking to himself Abdullah said.
"Is he crazy or something" as he thinks this
Oskar falls down landing on his elbows and knees from the pole bleeding. He shouts
"FUCK"
Abdullah was shocked as in school their always thought not to say bad words.
Abdullah thought maybe I should've told him not to, but he never did. Oskar went home after falling and Abdullah went home as well.
Overtime Abdullah grew close to Oskar and often went on his mini adventures and "fun" things to do Oskar was a dreamer often saying stories to Abdullah and he would eat it all up.
"Did you know aliens are going to come to get us" "I once saw a ghost, but I killed it" "I once caught a Pokémon in real life"
Abdullah loved to listen following him around.
Eventually the very same year he made friends with Oskar he had to move to Poland and Abdullah never saw him again. But he never forgot him.
Soon his new sister was going to be born. He talked to his mom about the names on facetime as she was in the hospital now. His first sister was 2 right now her name was Aaliyah, and his new sister was going to be named Zara.
Now that Abdullah was older, he could really get an understanding of how big of a thing it was. Eventually came the day that she was born on facetime their mother showed off her child to Abdullah's grandparents and uncles and aunts.
His grandfather praised the child and so did his other family his grandmother nearly broke down into tears. It was her 8th grandchild. She was wondering where all the time went.
Abdullah stared at his newborn sister. Feeling a connection straight away thinking to himself
"that's my sister"
When their mother came home, and they started to get settled in Abdullah Ali and Aaliyah would play with Zara trying to make her laugh and when their father came home his normal serious demeanour changed you could hear the joy in his voice and that look in his eyes.
Abdullah missed Oskar a bit but with Zara's arrival he became a memory from long ago not forgotten just tucked away. Abdullah really like his
