Chapter 325: The Seed of Creation
In the darkness of the seal space, there was no light. No life. No passage of time. Only the infinite, endless void—and the cage.
The Nine-Tails lay curled in its prison, its massive form barely visible in the blackness. The Eight Trigrams Seal had been reinforced by Uzumaki Mito's final sacrifice, and the new Jinchūriki's vitality surged through the bars like fresh mortar sealing cracks in a wall. The cage was solid. Unshakable. Inescapable.
"Stupid humans! Sealed again by the same wretched technique!"
The fox's tails lashed against the bars. Its claws raked furrows in the void-stone floor. Its chakra, vast and terrible, hammered against the seal in waves of futile fury. But no matter how it raged, the cage held. The Jinchūriki remained untouched. The beast's power, which had once shaken mountains and leveled villages, could not so much as rattle the bars of its new prison.
And through the chakra link that bound Tailed Beast to host, the Nine-Tails sensed something that made its fury burn even hotter.
That human. The one who defeated me. He took my power. He consumed it.
The memory was ancient and bitter. The Gold and Silver Brothers—Kinkaku and Ginkaku, the descendants of the Sage—had done the same. They had devoured the Nine-Tails' flesh and claimed its chakra for their own. The fox had never forgotten that humiliation. Never forgiven it. And now, another human had repeated the insult. This one had not merely eaten its flesh. He had crushed its very consciousness within the chakra. He had annihilated the fragment of hatred that lived in the severed tail. He had taken the Nine-Tails' power and made it his.
He subdued me. He stole from me. He—
The fox's rage sputtered. Faltered. Because beneath the anger, beneath the wounded pride, there was something else. Something the Nine-Tails did not want to acknowledge.
Fear.
The human had not merely defeated its physical form. He had entered the spiritual plane and destroyed a piece of its soul. That was not supposed to be possible. The Nine-Tails was immortal. Its consciousness was indestructible. Even the First Hokage, for all his overwhelming power, had only been able to seal it. He had never been able to unmake it.
But this human—this Rakshasa—had looked at the accumulated hatred of a thousand years and erased it with a thought.
What... what are you?
The fox's question echoed through the empty seal space. No answer came. Behind its massive body, the stump of its severed tail was slowly regenerating—new chakra knitting together the wound, new flesh budding from the scar. The tail would grow back. The physical damage would heal.
But the scar in the Nine-Tails' heart would not heal so easily. Its hatred would not be quelled. It would wait. It would watch. And one day—one day—it would find a way to break free and make this human pay.
The darkness swallowed the fox's muttering. The seal space fell silent once more.
The Forest of Death
Ragnar's cultivation had reached its most critical phase. The raw chakra of the Nine-Tails had been absorbed. The fox's consciousness had been destroyed. Now came the true test: condensing that vast, primordial power into a stable seed of Yin and Yang chakra.
On his abdomen, a vortex of scarlet energy swirled—a miniature galaxy of Nine-Tails chakra, compressed and spiraling into an ever-tighter pattern. Its volume was staggering. Even after the brutal extraction and refinement process, the amount of foreign chakra now residing in his body exceeded his own self-cultivated reserves. The blue chakra that Ragnar had spent years building through meditation and training was dwarfed by the crimson tide that now shared his system.
Most of Ragnar's strength came from his Devil Fruits and his physical abilities. Chakra had always been a secondary concern—useful, but not central. His natural talent for chakra refinement had been, by his own honest assessment, merely average before the system awakened. Without the system, without the Devil Fruits, without the Haki, his ceiling would have been Jōnin. Perhaps Elite Jōnin, with decades of relentless training. Respectable. Unremarkable. Mortal.
But talent was not a fixed quantity. The system had changed him. The battles had changed him. The Source—that mysterious fusion of Haki and natural energy—was rewriting his body at the cellular level, and his chakra reserves had grown in tandem with his physical evolution. In three years, he had gone from Academy graduate to a level approaching Kage. Not merely in combat power—in fundamental capacity.
Now, with the Nine-Tails' chakra added to the equation, that growth was about to accelerate exponentially.
His consciousness descended into his own body. He could see it—the roiling crimson mass in his abdomen, churning with the residual fury of the fox. He reached out with his will, grasped that power, and began to shape it. The extraction process was delicate. Yin and Yang were not separate substances that could be filtered out like impurities. They were intertwined. Inseparable. Two aspects of a single primordial force. To extract them, he had to separate the inseparable—to tease apart two threads that had been spun together since the dawn of creation.
Time lost meaning. One day passed. Then another. The sun rose and set over the Forest of Death, and Ragnar sat motionless at the center of the clearing, his body still as stone, his consciousness absorbed in the work of transformation.
Kokuō maintained her vigil. Her mist barrier held. No animals approached. No shinobi stumbled upon the clearing. The forest, as if sensing that something beyond its comprehension was occurring, held its breath.
By the third night, the vortex on Ragnar's abdomen had shrunk to the size of a thumbnail. The Nine-Tails' chakra had been compressed, refined, and crystallized into a single, perfect seed.
The Yin-Yang Chakra Seed.
It pulsed with a faint, steady light—neither scarlet nor blue, but something in between. The color of a sunrise seen through morning mist. The color of beginnings.
In his body, the seed settled into place alongside his own self-cultivated chakra. The two systems remained distinct—his original blue chakra flowing through his meridians in its orderly rhythm, and the new crimson-gold seed resting in his abdomen like a second heart. Separate. But harmonious.
The Seed of Yin and Yang. Also known as Yin-Yang Release. The power that lay at the foundation of all creation. With it came the ability to create form from nothingness—Yin Release, the spiritual force of imagination given shape. And the ability to breathe life into that form—Yang Release, the physical force of vitality made manifest. Together, they were the power of the gods. The power that the Sage of Six Paths had used to divide the Ten-Tails. The power that lay behind the greatest techniques in shinobi history. The Creation of All Things. Izanagi. The Truth-Seeker Orbs.
Ragnar did not yet possess true Yin-Yang Release. He understood this. There was a difference between having the attribute and mastering the nature transformation. The Seed was potential. It was the raw material. It was the door. But walking through that door would require years of dedicated training.
It was the same principle as elemental ninjutsu. Possessing fire-attribute chakra did not mean you could use Fire Release techniques. You had to learn the nature transformation. You had to train your chakra to express its innate quality. The Seed gave Ragnar the capacity for Yin and Yang Release. It did not grant him instant mastery.
This was the same barrier that Rock Lee had faced in the original timeline. Lee had chakra—every living being did. But he could not perform nature transformation. His chakra would not bend to the shapes required for elemental ninjutsu. He had been forced down the path of taijutsu, and he had walked it with a dedication that had become legendary. But the limitation had been real. Talent was not fair. It was not democratic. It was a lottery, and some people were born losing.
Ragnar had not been born with Yin-Yang talent. He had stolen it. Forged it. Carved it out of the flesh of a Tailed Beast with nothing but willpower and pain tolerance. And now, for the first time in his life, he possessed all seven chakra natures. He had the raw materials. The rest was simply work.
Yang Release, he thought, feeling the Seed pulse in response to his focus. The power that governs life and vitality. When I master its nature transformation, I will be able to heal wounds with a touch. To grant life to inanimate matter. To strengthen my body beyond its already superhuman limits.
Yin Release. The power that governs imagination and spirit. When I master its nature transformation, I will be able to create form from nothing. To weave illusions so powerful they become reality. To shape the world according to my will.
And together—Yin-Yang Release. The fusion. The ultimate technique. The power of creation and destruction in perfect balance.
He was still far from that goal. But for the first time, the path was clear.
Then something unexpected happened.
The Source stirred.
The pale green energy that Ragnar had named—the mysterious fusion of natural energy and Haki that was slowly transforming his body into a true Sage Body—began to move. It flowed from the depths of his being, drawn toward the newly formed Seed like water flowing downhill. Faint tendrils of green light wrapped around the crimson-gold nucleus. And then, impossibly, the Source began to merge with it.
Ragnar watched in stunned silence as the two powers—one born of this world, one born of his own definition—intertwined. The Source was not consuming the Seed. It was nurturing it. Feeding it. The Seed, which had been stable but dormant, suddenly began to grow. Its pulse quickened. Its light brightened. Tiny filaments of energy spread outward from its core, threading through Ragnar's chakra network like roots seeking soil.
The Source is catalyzing the Seed, he realized. Accelerating its development. But how? The Source is a fusion of natural energy and Haki—it has nothing to do with Yin-Yang Release. They should be completely separate systems.
But the evidence was undeniable. The Seed was growing stronger by the moment. Its regenerative properties—the innate ability of Yin-Yang chakra to replenish itself—were being amplified by the Source's influence. What should have taken years of careful cultivation was happening in real-time.
If this continues... what will it become?
A strange thought surfaced in his mind. Unbidden. Almost heretical.
If the Seed grows large enough—if it absorbs enough power—could it bloom? Could it bear fruit? Could it eventually transform into something else entirely?
The Divine Tree. The Shinju. The primordial entity that Kaguya Ōtsutsuki had consumed to become the progenitor of all chakra on this world. It had started as a seed. A seed that had been planted, nurtured, and harvested. The Ōtsutsuki clan traveled from world to world, planting Divine Trees, waiting for them to bear fruit, and consuming that fruit to ascend to greater heights of power.
Am I... cultivating a Divine Tree inside my own body?
The thought was absurd. Blasphemous. And yet—the logic held. The Seed was formed from the chakra of the Nine-Tails, which was itself a fragment of the Ten-Tails, which was the merger of Kaguya and the Divine Tree. The Source was a unique fusion of natural energy and spiritual will, an energy that had never existed before Ragnar had created it. Together, they were producing something that the world had never seen.
The Ōtsutsuki plant trees on planets and wait millennia for the fruit to ripen. I am planting a tree inside myself and accelerating its growth with my own power.
He was not an Ōtsutsuki. He had no alien blood. No inherited right to the Divine Tree's fruit. But he had something they did not: the Source. A power that could nurture and transform.
Perhaps, he thought, this is what it means to become the first ancestor. Not to steal power from an existing tree. Not to inherit power from an ancient bloodline. But to grow your own.
The Seed pulsed in his abdomen. Warm. Alive. Growing.
Maybe this is a kind of Dao. My Dao. The path that no one else has walked.
Ragnar opened his eyes. The Forest of Death was dark around him, the stars faintly visible through the canopy above. Kokuō was still at her post, her five tails curled protectively around the perimeter. She sensed his awakening and turned her massive head toward him.
"Did you succeed?" she asked.
"Yes." His voice was quiet. Contemplative. "More than I expected."
Kokuō studied him with her ancient, knowing eyes. She could feel the change in him. The new power that pulsed beneath his skin. It was faint now—a seedling just beginning to sprout. But she had lived long enough to recognize potential when she saw it.
"Rakshasa," she said slowly. "What exactly are you becoming?"
Ragnar looked at his hands. Ordinary hands. Callused from years of training. Scarred from countless battles. And yet, beneath the skin, he could feel the Seed growing. The Source flowing. The future unfolding.
"I don't know yet," he admitted. "But I intend to find out."
