Chapter 73 - Chapter 73 The invasion subsides

Mon-El flew in front of Zod, looking at the lifeless corpse in Zod's hand.

"You killed her!"

Even though this woman had killed his father and murdered so many innocent lives on Earth, she was still his mother.

Now, looking at her corpse, a mix of complex emotions fiercely intertwined in his heart, making his tone involuntarily stiff.

"Do you want to avenge her?"

Zod's gaze swept over him, as cold as if he were looking at a dead man, causing Mon-El to tremble and immediately recall the terrifying experience from earlier.

Instantly, he snapped back to reality; the person he faced was not one of those reasonable, easy-to-talk-to superheroes on Earth.

He immediately adjusted his emotions and said with a sincere, pleading tone, "General Zod, I apologize for my earlier offense. Could you please return my mother's remains to me? I beg you!"

Seeing his sensible demeanor, Zod decided not to bother with him further.

A corpse with a Kryptonian hybrid bloodline was no different from trash to him, so he casually tossed it away.

Seeing this, Mon-El immediately flew forward to catch it. He didn't dare to look at Zod again, simply turning around and flying away rapidly.

Afterward, Zod heard him flying over the city, calling out to all the Daxamites:

"Daxam warriors, Queen Rhea is dead. As the heir to the Daxam throne, I order you all to lay down your weapons and cease your attacks."

"Do not make any more meaningless sacrifices. I promise you that I will lead you away from Earth to find a place in the universe that can truly be your home."

His voice, amplified by Martian Manhunter's telepathic power, quickly reached the ears of all Daxamites in the city.

In fact, the moment the mothership disappeared, these Daxam soldiers had already panicked!

Because ever since the destruction of Daxam, the King and Queen had become their spiritual solace, and the mothership was their greatest reliance.

Now, all of that was gone, and their will to fight had largely dissipated.

As expected, these Daxam soldiers soon all laid down their weapons.

As for what happened next, he had no interest, because that was the moment for the politicians and ambitious individuals of this world.

However, at this moment, Supergirl brought Superman to him.

Zod observed him with interest; he could clearly sense a slight tension in the other party's body, indicating he was very wary of him.

"Kara told me you are General Zod from another world. Does Krypton also meet the fate of destruction in other worlds?"

Looking at Zod, Superman wanted to connect him with the General Zod in his memories.

But he found that the aura and feeling emanating from the two were completely different.

The Zod before him lacked the overt brutality of the other, but considering his recent action of instantly killing nearly a thousand elite Daxam warriors, Superman rated his danger level in his heart higher than all previous opponents.

Zod looked at him and said, "The destruction of Krypton was a predetermined event, because everything was for Clark Kent to become Superman."

After all, in the earliest Superman origin stories, Krypton was merely a backdrop for his story, used to establish his identity as a Kryptonian orphan.

"What?"

This statement left Kara feeling a bit confused. She didn't understand how her cousin becoming Superman was related to the destruction of Krypton!

Clark, on the other hand, directly voiced his confusion: "What do you mean by that?"

"You are not yet qualified to know these things. When your strength reaches a level where you can access the origin, then you will be qualified to understand its secrets!"

"Knowing too much too soon will do you no good."

Zod's face held a hint of mystery.

"What is the origin?"

"That is also a secret; you are equally not yet qualified to know."

Looking at the constipated expressions on their faces, Zod at this moment fully enjoyed the pleasure of being a riddle-teller.

Knowing that he wouldn't get any answers about the destruction of Krypton from Zod, Kara immediately changed the subject:

"You just mentioned that you have established a New Krypton. Did you successfully conquer Earth in your own world?"

Clark's expression also changed upon hearing this, seemingly imagining the fall of Earth in another world and the death of everyone.

Having witnessed Zod's ruthless and murderous side, a chill ran through him at the outcome he had imagined.

Seeing his thoughts, Zod couldn't help but scoff: "Hmph! The universe is vast, and even the Solar System is not small. It's not that difficult to find a suitable planet to rebuild Krypton."

Of course, Zod didn't say one thing: only an idiot whose brain was kicked by a donkey, like his original self, would stubbornly fixate on Earth.

Hearing this, both the siblings breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed things were not as they had imagined.

They didn't doubt that Zod would deceive them, as there was no need for it, and they couldn't interfere with matters in another universe.

"If you can rebuild Krypton, does that mean many of our compatriots survived the destruction in your world?"

Clark, however, found a key point from another angle.

"No, only ten of my subordinates survived the destruction with me. However, the other world's you possesses Krypton's most precious treasure—the codex—and I took it!"

"The codex contains all the genetic sequences of Krypton throughout its history. Combined with Genesis Chamber technology, we can mass-produce new members of our race."

In fact, the codex was an original creation from the Superman movies, and not every universe's Krypton possessed it.

Upon hearing Zod say this, both Clark and Kara felt a tremor in their hearts, and their voices became a little off.

"What about Kal-El? Did he lose his life?"

Seeing them fantasizing again, Zod snorted, "I wouldn't go as far as to kill a child. I only took what I needed. He is still the adopted son of the Kents."

Even his original self had never really intended to kill Clark during their initial interactions.

Hearing this, both of them subtly breathed a sigh of relief.

"Has the other Kal-El grown up now? Has he become the Guardian of Metropolis?"

Knowing that her cousin in the other world was not dead, Kara was relieved and began to ask about his situation.

After all, when she had previously interacted with Barry, she learned from him that there was no record of Superman ever existing in his universe.

This made her believe that people and events in parallel worlds were all different.

But Zod's appearance shattered this perception. In his world, there was Krypton, and even Martian Manhunter, showing a high degree of overlap with their world.

"The origins of our two universes are similar, but the timelines are not the same. In the universe I come from, Kal-El is less than five years old, and he still has a long way to go before becoming Superman."

Speaking of which, after extracting the codex from young Clark, Zod had basically not paid special attention to him anymore!

He also didn't know if Clark had listened to what he had told Jonathan, nor did he know if Jonathan had changed his approach to Clark's education.
