You might think a lot can't happen in a day, well a lot did.
Igna woke up to turbulence on his bed, he looked around startled as to what could cause such noise at 3am. On finding out what was the situation all signs of drowsiness left him as he stood up with speed carrying his wife. He didn't bother to change his clothes, he got in his car and off they went. Pauline's cries filled the car, Igna didn't know how to soothe her, with one hand on the steering wheel and one hand on her nape he tried to calm her down. A drive that was supposed to be less than 30mins seemed like forever, by the time they arrived at the hospital the car seat, Pauline's dress literally anything around Pauline was soaked.
Igna carried her and started for the door all the way mouthing the words "sorry honey, it's going to be alright, I can become celibate your cries make my heart ache"
He didn't remember much of what happened next but nurses came running and they were shown into a room he was then told to wait outside. He sat down on the chair directly outside the room sweating profusely, he nearly fainted I must say, it wasn't until he was called back in that he noticed his breathing was ragged. There he saw Pauline smiling holding their baby, the joy that rushed through his body at that moment was something he would not forget in years to come. He crouched down and wiped sweat off of Pauline's face before carrying the baby, he was surprised to find out the baby was a girl cause the ultra sounds said otherwise, he kissed her forehead and gave her back to the nurses. He stayed by Pauline's side until they were ready to check out.
At the checkout they asked what name to put on the birth certificate, after some seconds of contemplating they decided to go with the initial name, the nurse asked if they were sure cause it was a not so feminine name but they had already concluded. There on the certificate it read "AIVAH OLUCHUKWU".
Calls have been flooding my phone since morning, I started to regret posting on my story. Pauline's mom called almost immediately after we got back from the hospital, I couldn't make out if she was crying or laughing all sorts of emotions were bubbling over the phone. The shocker is that she doesn't leave her house but she was half way here already, I had to adjust the amount of food I was preparing so it would be enough.
I couldn't leave Pauline for more than 5mins, I went to and fro checking up on her and Aivah of course.
I had just finished cooking and was about to wash up when the knock came, sighing I tiredly dragged myself to the door, peeking through I saw it was Pauline's mother.
I helped her move her things into the kitchen, she was with Pauline by the time I was done. I rushed to the bathroom before anyone could beckon on me. When the cold water hit my head I just let it soak me up as my mind wandered back to barely a year ago...
I had just come back to see my parents after being apart for six years, it was a warm October evening, then my friends came by even though I protested they still managed to drag me along. We went sightseeing that was when I saw Pauline, she was at the football field watching her brother play. She was so beautiful I almost forgot how to breath. She was smiling...oh my heavens I was blushing just watching her. I asked my friends if they knew her and sure as fuck they did. We became friends, when she found out I'd be traveling at the end of October she expressed her sadness. I was more sad than she was trust me, the day before I left I asked her if she would be my wife, I knew it wasn't obvious but I was shaking inwardly because she barely knew me but then I was afraid if I didn't make my intentions know she would be taken by another man. I braced myself for her response and the words came out ever so slowly and calmly almost like she was measuring them..."yes I will igna, but you have to let my parents know before travelling" I was literally in cloud 9, I was so high on happiness; it didn't take a lot to convince my dad and uncle to escort me on short notice and her parents were suprisingly compliant. We made arrangements for December. November passed ever so quickly same happened with December when we tied the knot...
Igna!!!..... Pauline's mom shouted from the bedroom. Damn I don't know how long I've been standing in the shower for...
