Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 |The Black Pearl

(Aboard the Black Pearl)

Elizabeth had given Will's last name as he was someone she liked, so his name was the first the popped into her head. That, and the fact that her stupid maid made her think that the pirates were coming for her when they weren't, they were coming for the gold.

She was waiting in the guest's cabin for Captain Barbosa, when she heard a knock on her door which was surprisingly polite and not something she expected to hear on a pirate ship. she walked over and opened the door and the person she saw, had her gasp in shock and recognition.

"It's you! I remember you, I saw you on this ship 8 years ago on the crossing from England." Elizabeth said.

"So, you remember me from all those years ago, I'm touched hahaha." the pirate had said as he gave her a two finger salute.

"Name's Dante Dark. At your service Miss Swan." He then said.

*GASP*

"You know?!?!" Elizabeth asked shocked.

"Of course I know. Unlike my cohorts, I am one of the few that actually knew old William Turner. Although most just called him Bootstrap or Bootstrap Bill and I know he didn't have a daughter and considering your age and what I know of Port Royal.

You can only be Elizabeth Swan, the daughter of the Governor of Port Royal. as far as I know he had a daughter of a similar age and those idiots didn't question why someone who claims to be a maid was wearing awfully nice clothes. They disregarded all common sense as soon as you said the name." Dante said.

"If you know that why haven't you..." Elizabeth started before being cut off.

"Told the Captain? Easy, I may be the first mate, but I never did agree with the harming of women and children, especially when it is such a beautiful women. And I know what will happen to you if they find out." Dante said as he started to walk out before stopping and turning around.

"On another note, be prepared for what you will see and hear tonight, it will change your entire world view." Dante said as he walked out.

(Elizabeth's POV)

"You'll be dining with the captain and he insists you wear this." one of the pirates who captured me said, as he showed me a red dress.

Feeling like being difficult I replied "You can tell him, I am disinclined to acquiesce to his request." I said with a smirk.

"The captain figured you'd say that and said if that'd be the case, you'll be dining with the crew, and you'll be naked." the pirate said with a lecherous smile.

I scoffed and grabbed the dress which caused him to frown and then walk off annoyed.

"Fine." He said.

(In the Captains Cabin)

"The greed of Cortez was insatiable so the heathen gods placed upon the gold a terrible curse. Any mortal that took so much as a single piece from the chest will be punished for eternity." Barbosa explained to Elizabeth about the medallion.

"I hardly believe in ghost stories anymore Captain Barbosa." Elizabeth said with a smirk.

"Aye, that's exactly what I thought when we were first told the tale. Buried on an island of the dead what cannot be found except by those who already know where it is. Find it we did. There be the chest. Inside be the gold. We took em all. Spent em and traded em. Flitted them away on food and drink and pleasurable company.

But the more we gave them away, the more we came to realize. The drink would not satisfy, food turned to ash in our mouths, and all the pleasurable company in the world could not slake our lust. We are cursed men Ms. Turner. Compelled by greed we were, but now we are consumed by it." Barbosa explained about the curse.

Elizabeth had "sneakily" grabbed a knife from the table as Barbosa turned toward the monkey to pet him before he continued.

"There is one way we can end our curse, all the scattered pieces of the Aztec gold must be returned, and the blood repaid. Thanks to ye, we have the final piece." Barbosa said as the monkey ran off.

"And the blood to be repaid?" Elizabeth asked already fearing the answer.

"That's why there's no sense to be killin ya, yet. Apple?" Barbosa joked as he held out an apple.

Elizabeth jumped up and after smacking away the apple, she took out the knife she had hidden. She tried to run out but Barbosa was blocking her way. When she finally got passed him he grabbed her at which time she just turned around and stabbed him in the chest with the knife. Barbosa paused and slowly took out the bloody knife as he looked at it then her.

"I'm curious, After killin me, what is you're planning on doing next?" Barbosa joked.

Elizabeth slowly backed away from Barbosa as she went out the door and when she turned around she turned around she saw the crew but they were all skeletons and they were walking around, clothes looked to be rotting and falling away.

She started freaking out and running around as she kept running into different skeletons. She even saw the one pirate who was nice and he was standing off to the side leaning against the railing with a grin on his face that looked terrifying.

The grin scared her the most as she knew that he knew her secret, what if he decided to tell Captain Barbosa? When she had this thought, she finally started to run back inside before she was stopped by Barbosa who grabbed her and turned her to face the cursed pirates.

"Look! The moonlight reveals us for what we truly are. We are not among the living so we cannot die, but neither are we dead. For too long I've been parched of thirst and unable to quench it, for too long I've been starving to death but haven't died.

I feel nothin, not the wind on my face, nor the spray of the sea, nor the warmth of a women's flesh." Barbosa said as he slowly reached his hand out and it transformed into skeleton.

Elizabeth backed up in fear as Barbosa continued.

"You best start believing in ghost stories Ms. Turner, you're in one." Barbosa said as he slowly walked into the moonlight revealing his true form, and then he opened a bottle of wine and drank it.

Elizabeth could see it going down his non-existent throat and dyeing his bones red before she immediately ran past him in terror to hide inside.
