Steel wasn't sure if the human can hear his thoughts. But he doesn't want to risk revealing her to this human.
Human seem to have an soul ability that let it manipulate the flesh of other creatures to some degree. He is sure that if it wasn't for his Elusive nature she would've already known that he is a demon.
Humans like these are the most troubling. He has tried everything in his power to avoid them. But one day, he was just meant to come across someone of these people.
He is just have to be calm and behave like a human. Right now, he is just a government officer doing his job.
"I am Steel. I am taking training under officer Jane. My mission was to keep watch on the Devil spawn. But when I came here. It was already dead."
The golden eye seem to think about his words for few seconds. It is moving from left to right. Watching him and the environment with one eye.
The eye even moved from the back of his hand to another location of his body to get a better view of the devil spawn. He did not enjoy this creepy thing walking on him. But he is smart enough to not complain.
Soon the voice replies.
"How did you figured out it was dead?"
Steel replies without hesitation.
"it is a devil spawn and have you seen a devil spawn that would let a…human…like me get so close? I am literally on top of it. Even if it was in hibernation it would have woken up just to kill me but it didn't. So I just assumed that it died due to some other reason."
The golden eye considers his words for few seconds and then replies.
"You logic is sound but you took an unnecessary risk. However, I will not argue as your abilities seem to be related to stealth so you must have taken precautions. Still. I would recommend not taking these risk from now on. Devil spawns are unpredictable and dangerous. Every life is valuable so take care of yourself."
Steel wasn't expecting a kind and genuine advice form a creepy golden eye that appeared out of nowhere.
Also it doesn't have to tell him that. He is already well aware of the dangers that these devil spawns.
Steel replies with a yes and then the eye introduces itself.
"I am Shining Reach of the government. Currently, I am not in a mission provided to me. I am here on my own accord to find someone. It is a man with black hair and red eyes. Have you seen him?"
It was quite scary to talk to her after realizing who it is. Everyone knows about her in the boneyard. She is quite famous cause of her strength and beauty.
Her abilities weren't public but he had somewhat of an idea that it is related to communication. He just didn't expect that ability to be like this.
Also who is she talking about? Is there someone else like her here too?
"No. My only duty is to watch over this devil spawn so I haven't moved from this place for an hour or so."
Then the golden eye said.
"understood, I will let others know about your position. It might take few hours for them to reach you. But be patient and take care of yourself"
After that, it disappeared like the way it appeared on his body.
He even scratched the part were that eye was present. But there was no response. He waited for few minutes in silence.
He was worried that she was still watching. But why would she? Is there a need for her to be watching? What are the limits on her abilities?
That could only be answered by her.
Soon after ten or twenty minutes, he sigh and jumped off the Barrack bug. He is curious of this "man" she talked about.
He is also bored and waiting for those humans to arrive would take so much time.
"well, let's see what can we find."
So he runs away form the Barrack bug and towards the direction where the Singing bat ran. It would take him few hours to reach that place. But who knows, maybe he will come across a dead devil spawn or something. Then he can get a Soul weapon.
It is no his greed that is speaking. He just wants to investigate and find the threat that human may pose. He has a totally sound reasoning behind his actions.
So he sprints with calm and silence.
To not make devils or humans be aware of his presence. He just have to stop thinking. Does nothingness thinks? Does it make sounds?
He isn't sure. But if he wants to be less noticeable than he has to be something close to nothing too.
It isn't pleasant though. Is this…his path to imperfection?...to be nothing. River has her own but his path isn't liked by him. Why would he ever want to be nothing? That would basically be suicide. Losing himself in nothingness. He is always afraid disappearing and what is even inside of him, that curse.
But he has to be afraid of his own ability too. He really is an unlucky demon. So he never wants to dwell into that path. He rather find some outside strength than his own strength.
He is a demon so why not break the norm in his own way?
With that, he continues running towards the danger. What would he find? It is as exciting as it is death sentence.
