Chapter 24 - 23

The party swiftly moved through the forest. The sun was a little above, and their eyes were no longer getting hurt by it. The mountain was appearing to be closer with the passage of time. Felmer had hit his head a lot of times. He pulled out a cloth from his bag and tore it.

"Melfer, grab it," He said, handing his horse's reins.

Melfer grabbed it. And then Felmer covered his forehead and the back of his head with the cloth and tied it. Then he grabbed the reins again. His head was still bleeding. His cheeks and eyes were covered in blood. He wiped the blood with his arm.

"Does it hurt?" Melfer asked.

"No…The bleeding will stop…But it doesn't hurt much."

'Why are you lying? Just say it hurts.' Melfer thought.

Soon, the party reached the mountain. The mountain was large, but not as much as they had expected. Its foot was above ground and felt like it was hollow from the inside.

They moved inside the forest and found an open area. They tied their horses there and moved near the mountain. The peak ascended forward, and below it was an area. It was giving cover from the sun. The party moved near it and stood in the vast shade. On the roof, they spotted a weird extension of rock. It had many sides. It felt weird.

"What do you think?" Elna asked the captain.

"I don't know…I think we should stop and check around."

Felmer moved near the weird extension and viewed it from all sides. It felt like a symmetry. A perfectly symmetrical shape. Felmer felt inside him that they were in the right place.

"We should stop here and look for the shadow of this rock," Felmer said, while looking at the rock extension.

As he looked, he spotted something. There was a little blue jewel in its centre. The sunlight shone on it, and similar coloured light emerged from it. He followed it and reached the wall in front of him. The blue light was shining on a little hole. It was big enough to fit a blade. He then looked above and saw another small hole. And then, further, directly above him, another hole.

The rest were looking at him.

'I think we are in the right place,' Felmer thought.

Then he turned and headed towards the rest of them. They had decided to stay here. The captain drew his sword. He held it, pointing the blade towards the ground. He imbued the blade with magic. Light-blue patterns of wind appeared. Then he pushed the blade into the ground, and an invisible orb emerged and expanded far away.

"What was that?" Flexin asked.

"A barrier. We will be hidden from our pursuers." Captain Irnik replied.

They went into the open area inside the forest and decided to take turns watching the shadow. First, Elna decided to watch.

The time passed by, and before midday, her turn ended.

"Any change?" The captain asked.

"No…"

Then went the captain himself. Noon came, but there was no change. He looked above and saw sunlight coming from a hole in the roof, hit the jewel, and remained at the hole in the wall.

'Whoever made that was a genius.' The captain thought.

His turn ended, and then Melfer came. There was still no change.

'I was correct…We are in the right place,' Felmer thought.

When Melfer's turn ended, it was evening. Now the sunlight was emerging from another hole.

Then Felmer came and began to look at it. He stared at the light. The sun began to set, but the light never moved. Felmer was shocked. Soon, the sun set and the light faded. He got up and joined his group.

"There wasn't any change, right?" Elna asked.

"No…" The captain said.

"I didn't see anything," Melfer said the same.

Felmer looked at Elna and shook his head in response.

"Fine…Tomorrow, at dawn, we will check the hole where the light remained." She said and then went to sleep.

The others nodded and rested. Felmer lay on the ground and looked at the night sky. He stared for some time and then closed his eyes.
