Chapter 21 - Stubborn Little Writer

Aurelia

I was about to step in and dissolve the tension that was building up but Trevor's next reply made me curious about the drama that was going to unfold.

"You sound more excited than irritated"

Freya took a step forward, fists clenched, her breathing audible. That's the reaction she gives when she's about to explode in anger. And when that happens, she's unstoppable. She would say anything that comes to her mind. Oh this is bad.

"I'd rather stab myself than to ever get attached to you" she glared daggers at him. Trevor's jaw clenched, his shoulders stiff with tension. Oh that's enough before they kill each other.

"Freya!!" I interrupted, beaming with smile. She stepped back but not before firing a final glare his way.

"Relia!" She hugged me, patting my head like a big sister would.

"What happened? I heard you initiated the move-in" she asked as we disentangle.

"Let's go to my room"I ushered her in. The moment the door shut, she began bombarding me with questions.

"You agreed live with that scary man?" That was her first question. Games on.

"It was for my own safety, Freya," I replied, slumping onto the bed tiredly.

"Remember?" She was quiet for a while as if thinking about it and then she nodded.

"Fine but don't you think it's a bit extreme moving in with him? You're in danger because of him" her voice was soft as she sat beside me.

"And I'm safe with him" I turned to her, locking my gaze on hers, my voice decisive.

"I know you would say he's a dangerous man. Yes he is. But he would hurt the entire world but not me" I know Jayvion will never hurt me. She stared at me as if I were possessed. And maybe I was. By Jayvion.

"You trust him that much?" Her voice was barely audible laced with disbelief.

"He killed for me" I said, carefully studying her reaction. She gave none.

"You love him" she stated and I froze. My heart skipped a beat. I broke the eye contact. Did I? Was any of it real? Can I risk my heart for him?

"I.." I gulped.

"... don't" the word came out louder than intended which only sounded suspicious.

"How does it feel?" She asked, glaring at me, "to lie to me?" My cheeks flushed in embarrassment. That's Freya. She knows me too well.

"No..I mean I don't love him. Don't be too blunt" I mumbled, loud enough for her to hear.

"You've been obsessed with fictional men all your life. Now you expect me to believe you're not addicted to the one who appeared in real life?" She asked, her eyes daring me to say otherwise.

I bit my lower lip, my mind racing with possible topics I could come up with to divert this one.

"Hey guess what?! I'm done with my book, Ink and Blood!" I squealed, jumping from the bed to show her the manuscript.

"Oh finally. I knew you could do it" she smiled proudly at me. Success. I know the previous topic is far from over. Freya would not let it go that easily until I admit I love Jayvion which I'm not sure of.

It was 8pm and Jayvion was still nowhere in sight. Trevor took Freya home a while ago and was back, being my only company in this caged mansion-- not that he talks. He informed me Jayvion wouldn't be home for dinner and that I shouldn't wait up. I felt a pang of hurt at that. He's still mad at me for eavesdropping and he's punishing me with his absence. But if he's still angry, he won't tell Trevor about not coming home. He would've ignored me completely. Maybe he was busy. Maybe he was out, dealing with his enemies.

Either way, I had my dinner alone and went back to my room by 11pm.

I was about going to bed when I decided to go through my manuscript one more time. I'm so happy. I'd finally finished. Tomorrow I'd edit and contact my agent. I could be published in a week!

Suddenly, a crazy idea popped in my brain and I smiled. I picked up the manuscript and sneaked out of my room. Trevor was nowhere in sight meaning he thought I was sleeping. I don't know where Jayvion's room is but I just wanted to drop my manuscript so that I could show him the end result of his punishment. My gaze roamed around the room and eventually landed at a hallway near the floor to ceiling bookshelf. It was dark which confirms that Jayvion's room is located there. I was in my lingerie, barefooted. I was just going to drop it in his room and rush back to my room before he arrives. Nothing much. I had to be fast.

I increased my pace towards the hallway and stopped just before the door. Taking a deep breath, I pushed the door open. I was surprised it was unlocked. Why would he leave it open? Maybe he never thought I could get in. My heart thrummed against my ribcage-- equal parts anticipation and the thrilling fear of being caught as I walked in. My steps were slow and careful as I took in the sight of the room. A dim light from the bedside illuminated the room. It wasn't bright. Neither was it too dark.

I took one step towards the bedside, then two, moving on the heels of my feet to stay silent.

Though, the sound of my heartbeat was loud enough for someone to hear.

I was halfway through the room when I heard a voice behind me and I froze. My soul left my body. I forgot to breath.
