Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Trek of Ten Thousand Meters

Su Chen's weight was almost negligible; even as he climbed down along the earphone cable, it didn't cause the cable to sway much.

It was less like climbing and more like sliding. This earphone cable, which looked very thin to an ordinary person, was different in Su Chen's eyes; it was even thicker than he was.

Although there were some minor thrills during the process, Su Chen's strength had also increased somewhat now.

If his strength had shrunk proportionally, Su Chen might have really died here. At one point, Su Chen couldn't resist looking down, resulting in a loss of grip. He almost fell off the earphone cable. Fortunately, his reflexes were quick and his strength was sufficient, allowing him to stabilize his posture in time.

After finally reaching the ground, Su Chen faced a new dilemma. Why?

Su Qingwan's room was a rather special case. Su Chen didn't have much fondness for things like carpets; they were hard to clean and not very useful.

For Su Chen, wearing a pair of slippers was completely sufficient. But Su Qingwan liked them, so Su Chen had no objection. When his work began to stabilize, he spent money to let Su Qingwan pick out a furry rug herself, placing it in the center of her room floor.

This rug was light brown. As it wasn't very large-two meters by two meters-Su Qingwan placed it right in the center of her room floor.

Admittedly, with this rug added, the style of Su Qingwan's room improved significantly. The flooring at home was old and always had some damaged spots; while not a major issue, it did affect the aesthetics.

But looking at this rug from Su Chen's current perspective, the change was tremendous. The rug had now become a dense jungle, a breathtaking sight to behold.

Naturally, the straight line between two points is the shortest distance. For Su Chen, the closest route to the door was to cut straight through this rug jungle.

However, considering his current height and the fact that he had almost gotten lost earlier inside Su Qingwan's nightgown, Su Chen felt that if he ventured in, he might not find his way out today. He resolutely decided to take the detour.

But the rug wasn't entirely useless to Su Chen. One must remember that Su Chen currently had neither clothes nor shoes.

Walking from Su Qingwan's room to his own, including the necessary detour, would likely be over ten meters-that was over ten thousand meters for him. Walking ten thousand meters barefoot-did he still want his feet?

He plucked some suitably sized fine threads from the rug's fibers, roughly the thickness of a little finger. These were the materials Su Chen prepared to make shoes.

Su Chen lived in modern society and had, of course, never experienced wearing straw sandals. He naturally didn't know how to weave this stuff into shoes. But he did know how to weave it into a sole; it was just a flat little square, wasn't it?

Su Chen worked quickly, soon weaving two flat, square-soled sneaker bases. Then, he threaded the line back and forth a few times on the sides to barely create an upper. Although not good-looking, given his current wretched state, what did it matter whether it was good-looking or not?

Wearing these self-made slippers, he began the journey to his own room. Why didn't Su Chen use these threads separated from the rug's cotton fibers to make himself a set of clothes? That would simply take too much time. If he could just change back, would he still need to make his own clothes then?

Moreover, Su Chen had now fully accepted reality. He was so small that even if he were wearing clothes, probably no one would see him, let alone now, being naked.

Su Chen didn't run to save time. Never mind the long distance; even if he ran, it would take considerable time.

More crucially, Su Chen was now both hungry and thirsty. He hadn't eaten anything all morning, hadn't even had a sip of water. Furthermore, the sudden attack from Su Qingwan in the morning and the recent climb had consumed a lot of his energy.

To preserve some self-preservation ability in case of any unexpected situations, it was better to walk slowly.

Besides, given Su Chen's current size, even if he reached his room, it wouldn't be a quick task to find what he believed should exist.

Twenty minutes later, Su Chen had already walked out of Su Qingwan's room. He came out from under the door gap. Yes, not crawling, but walking. The gap under the door was, to the current Su Chen, an incredibly spacious underground passage, which couldn't help but make him sigh with emotion.

The only thing Su Chen felt fortunate about now was that he had given the largest bedroom in the house to that girl Su Qingwan. If his own room were that big, Su Chen couldn't imagine how much time it would take to thoroughly search it.

Reaching the living room and looking at the towering giant structures, Su Chen's mood was already quite calm. However, seeing the living room become immensely spacious still gave him a bit of a headache.

But what could he do? Let's go. Su Chen traversed the living room alone, leaving lonely footprints on the floorboards.

By the time Su Chen reached his own room, it was almost noon. Fortunately, that girl Su Qingwan didn't come home at noon, so Su Chen didn't need to worry about any unexpected situations.

But when Su Chen walked into his room, he suddenly realized a problem: where should he start searching, and what exactly should he be looking for?

Initially, Su Chen had always thought that returning to his room might lead him to find the thing that had shrunk him. But looking at the enormous room before him, at the objects dozens or even hundreds of meters tall, he couldn't help but swallow hard.

The scale of this task seemed even larger than he had imagined.

He felt disheartened, but there was no other way. Su Chen currently had no means to seek help from others; he could only rely on himself. He could only slowly walk towards the bed.

Su Chen's room wasn't large. A single bed, a wardrobe, a bookshelf, and a computer desk almost filled the room completely. So, searching it wasn't extremely complicated; he just needed to decide where to start.

Su Chen thought about it. It seemed that after returning yesterday, he had directly taken off his clothes and gone to sleep; he hadn't used the computer. So...

Su Chen shifted his gaze to his bed, already having an idea in his heart. If there really was something that had caused him to shrink, the only possibility was that it was on his bed.

Fortunately, when Su Qingwan couldn't find him in the morning, she simply left his room. Otherwise, it might have been truly impossible to search. But now, how to climb onto his own bed had become the predicament Su Chen needed to face.

Over five hundred meters high. Sliding down using something was easy, but wanting to climb up without any tools?

This was no longer something that could be described by the mere word 'difficult'.
