Chapter 25 - The Five Major Types of Powers

Jia Weixin felt a bit regretful, but being rejected was expected; these wild superpower users simply cannot withstand the strict discipline of the military.

His expression unchanged, he outlined the second option: "Join the safe zone, work with Leader Chen on various research projects. Your status will be equivalent to Leader Chen's. All rare items obtained by the thirteenth team, including but not limited to various marvels and spirit monster corpse materials, will be offered to your research department first, with research materials provided for free. The ownership of any developed items belongs to the entire thirteenth team, with a monthly salary of one thousand spirit monster cores, plus contribution-based bonuses at a rate of one ten-thousandth. Items created using superpowers, if they cannot be studied or replicated, also receive a bonus at a rate of one ten-thousandth based on their value."

The military and the safe zone are separate; the safe zone is directly under the military, but its personnel are not soldiers, and the discipline differs significantly.

Yang Yuan was aware of this.

Yang Yuan pondered slightly, then asked, "What about the third option?"

Jia Weixin paused and then said, "We'll approve a legal military factory for you. The military will arrange the staff, whom you have the right to re-select. Orders will be placed by the military, and materials can be obtained from the thirteenth team at cost price. The finished products are to be sold to the thirteenth team at their cost price. Orders can't be refused without a justified reason. You'll have a certain degree of freedom and can take orders from outside the military. For non-military orders, you can set your own prices, but military orders must be the top priority."

Leader Chen looked at Jia Weixin in surprise, then turned to Yang Yuan, feeling somewhat envious.

He also wanted a military factory of his own because, despite not being able to refuse military orders and having to sell to the military at cost, profit could be made from non-military orders.

Those wild superpower users aren't all poor, like those mercenary demon-slaying team members, who are actually quite wealthy.

However, after hearing the three options, Yang Yuan slightly shook his head, looked at Jia Weixin, and said, "Director Jia, may I share my thoughts?"

Jia Weixin nodded, "Please do."

The conditions were negotiable, and he never thought he could immediately persuade the other party.

Yang Yuan said, "I know you military folks don't like to beat around the bush, so I'll be direct. If I have to choose one of the above three options, I'll choose the military factory, but I must have the right to refuse orders at my discretion, without needing a reason, at any time."

Since he needed to persuade the entire thirteenth team to annihilate the Drought Fiend, he had to first demonstrate his confidence and strength, so he needed to reveal some things. Of course, this had to be approached gradually, lest the other party think he was crazy.

Jia Weixin frowned slightly.

Chen Xianzhi, the advisor, and even Leader Chen couldn't help but frown.

What kind of unreasonable demand was this?

"Furthermore, my freedom cannot be restricted because I'm someone who can't sit still. This world is so big, and occasionally, I want to go out and see it," Yang Yuan added.

Jia Weixin continued to frown.

"The final point."

Yang Yuan stated, "I'm not a soldier, nor am I anyone's subordinate, so I don't need to follow orders. Of course, I won't act recklessly, cause trouble, or obstruct the interests of humanity without reason. However, neither the safe zone, the entire thirteenth team, nor the entire alliance can forcibly command me to do anything. I have the right to refuse anyone at any time without needing to provide a reason. This right I won't use often, but it must not be absent; this point is crucial. I hope Director Jia understands."

Upon hearing Yang Yuan's three demands, Jia Weixin felt slightly annoyed.

Not taking orders from anyone?!

Refusing orders without any reason when he didn't want them?

Though he knew wild superpower users were arrogant, he didn't expect Yang Yuan to be so egotistical.

Seeing that the director was about to explode, the advisor Chen Xianzhi quickly stepped forward and asked, "May I inquire about Mr. Yang Yuan's ability? What can Mr. Yang Yuan produce, and to which system does Mr. Yang Yuan's ability belong?"

Jia Weixin's eyes lit up as he looked at Yang Yuan; he was eager to know what gave the other party such confidence to make those seemingly excessive demands.

Leader Chen also looked at Yang Yuan, curious about the type of ability Yang Yuan possessed.

After all, abilities that involve manufacturing items come in many forms, and some abilities that control metals can also create items.

They all wanted to know what type of ability Yang Yuan had.

The show was about to begin.

It was a good opportunity to ask about the types of superpowers in this world and some common knowledge to avoid making a fool of oneself or committing basic mistakes.

So Yang Yuan smiled slightly, not directly answering the question but instead asking, "Before I answer that question, may I ask how many types of superpowers there are? What kinds of superpowers exist?"

Jia Weixin frowned again, looking towards the advisor.

The advisor, Chen Xianzhi, smiled and said, "This question is somewhat complex. When we first arrived in this world, we classified 18 systems ourselves: Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, Earth, Land, Ice, Wind, Thunder, Light, Darkness, Time, Space, Poison, Causality, Life, Death, and the Mysterious System..."

"Mysterious System?" Yang Yuan inquired.

"It's the type of superpower where data appears in the mind, or mysterious symbols and such, which we initially termed the Mysterious System," Chen Xianzhi nodded.

Yang Yuan's mind was stirred by this—the appearance of data in one's mind...

It seemed his Conceptual System wasn't unique?

The advisor, Chen Xianzhi, continued, "But later, the information we excavated from the Ancient Ruins categorized all types of abilities into five major categories."

"Five major categories?" Yang Yuan was intrigued.

"Yes, five major categories."

The advisor, Chen Xianzhi, nodded, "These five major categories are the Physique System, Perception System, Mental System, Rule System, and what we initially called the Mysterious System, now known as the Conceptual System."

Yang Yuan realized, "Physique System, Perception System, Mental System, Rule System, Conceptual System... Could you roughly introduce these major categories to me?"

Jia Weixin frowned slightly; was now the time to discuss this?

Yet he restrained himself, eager to find out what Yang Yuan was planning.

The advisor, Chen Xianzhi, showed no impatience; after all, in negotiations, what did a little back and forth matter?

He had encountered even stranger situations before.

He explained, "The Physique System pertains to anything related to physique, like physical enhancement, speed enhancement, etc. The Perception System is also easy to distinguish, encompassing perception abilities, including hostility perception, aura perception, visual perception, energy perception, or toxin perception; even many abilities that grant toxin immunity fall under the Perception System."

Yang Yuan nodded.

Chen Xianzhi continued, "The Mental System category includes all elements such as Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, Earth, Wind, Thunder, Light, Darkness, etc., which all fall under the Mental System. Of course, abilities like Telekinesis also belong to the Mental System."

Yang Yuan was somewhat surprised that the Elemental System belonged to the Mental System?

It kind of made sense, as those abilities seemed related to the strength of one's mind.

Ancient classification of abilities was not without basis; it was informed by reason.

"As for the Rule System, those are rather rare; any abilities with mandatory effects fall into the Rule System. For instance, an ability that prevents someone from looking into the user's eyes, or one that causes something to happen if they do, these mandatory effects belong to the Rule System—I won't elaborate on each," Chen Xianzhi said.

He continued, "The rarest and most enigmatic category, however, belongs to the Conceptual System. When billions of people first arrived in this world, the naturally Awakened accounted for about 30% of the population, which is roughly three billion, but among the three billion Awakened, according to statistics, there were only about a dozen in the Conceptual System."

"Out of three billion Awakened, only a dozen are in the Conceptual System?" Yang Yuan was shocked.

"That's correct."

Chen Xianzhi nodded, "The number of Conceptual Superpower Users is the fewest, even after unearthing the Awakening Altar, where the number of Awakened in the Conceptual System over three years still doesn't exceed a hundred."

Yang Yuan nodded. This suggested that revealing the classification of his ability wouldn't necessarily be problematic, as long as he didn't expose specific capabilities: "May I ask what Conceptual System abilities are like?"

Chen Xianzhi stated, "Conceptual System abilities were initially termed as the Mysterious System, later also referred to by some as the Creation System."
