Chapter 1 - love In The Struggle

Amelia never expected to fall for someone like Henry. She came from comfort a father who owned businesses, a mother who wore diamonds casually. Henry had nothing but dreams, strong hands, and a heart that refused to give up.

They met in college when Amelia accidentally spilled coffee on his assignment.

"Oh my God! I'm so sorry!" Amelia panicked, wiping his paper.

Henry laughed softly. "It's okay. I was actually coming to buy more coffee."

"You're not angry?" she asked, surprised.

"No," he smiled. "Especially not when the person who spilled it is this beautiful."

That was the beginning.

Months passed, love grew, and soon Amelia found herself pregnant. She was scared at first, but Henry held her hands the night she broke the news.

"We'll figure it out," he whispered. "The baby is a blessing, not a mistake."

Amelia cried into his chest, relieved.

But life outside love was hard. Henry worked day and night delivering goods, washing cars, anything he could find. He supported Amelia, his mother Isabella, and his two sisters: Grace, calm and wise beyond her age, and little Sofia who always ran to Henry shouting, "Brother, carry me!"

One cold evening, Amelia lay on their bed, rubbing her belly slowly.

She smiled and whispered, "Baby, be patient with us. Daddy is working hard for you."

The door opened quietly.

"Mi Amor," Henry called, voice tired but warm.

Amelia sat up. "You're home! I was worried."

Henry dropped his bag with a sigh. "The bus broke down, and I had to walk halfway." He forced a smile. "But look… I got you something."

She raised a brow. "Henry, what did you do?"

"No lectures," he warned playfully. "Close your eyes."

She obeyed. He gently wrapped a soft pale-pink scarf around her neck.

"Open."

Amelia gasped, touching the fabric.

"Henry… this must have cost—"

He placed a finger on her lips. "Don't say it. You get cold easily now. I want you warm. That's all."

"Henry, you need to save money too," she insisted, voice trembling. "You work too hard already."

"I work hard because I love you," he replied. "And I love our child. I won't let you suffer."

She stared at him with watery eyes. "I don't deserve you."

He knelt in front of her, hands on her belly.

"You are the best thing that ever happened to me," he said. "Both of you."

The baby kicked lightly, and Henry's eyes widened in pure joy.

"Hey! Little one!" he laughed. "You're greeting daddy, hm?"

Amelia giggled. "He knows your voice."

Henry kissed her stomach. "Listen, my champion. You will grow strong. You will go to a great school. And one day you'll say 'My father worked hard for me.'"

Amelia stroked his cheek. "I love you, Henry."

He stood and hugged her gently. "I love you more than you know."

A knock came from the door — Grace entered quietly with a shy smile.

"Dinner is ready," she said. "Mama said you should come eat."

Henry nodded. "Tell her we're coming."

Grace looked at Amelia affectionately. "How's the baby?"

"Active," Amelia smiled. "Your nephew is kicking already."

Grace placed her hand on Amelia's stomach. "I can't wait to hold him. I want to teach him everything."

Henry teased, "Grace, you'll spoil him."

"So?" Grace smirked. "He deserves the best."

Sofia rushed in with excitement. "Baby kicked?"

Henry laughed. "Yes, he said hi to his favorite aunty."

"That's me!" Sofia declared proudly, making everyone laugh.

As they all walked to the dining table tired, hungry, but together Amelia held Henry's hand tightly.

"Even with nothing," she whispered, "I feel like we have everything."

Henry squeezed her hand back.

"One day," he promised, "we'll have more than enough. But even if life stays like this… I'm happy, as long as you're with me."

Amelia looked into his eyes, heart full.

"We're going to make it, Henry."

"Yes," he whispered. "We will."
