Chapter 10: The Hunting Moment
"Ka Sha Pirates!"
Out at sea, Jiang Qize looked at the pirate ship anchored beneath a lush green island. He glanced at the wanted poster in his hand, and a grin appeared on his face.
He hadn't even been out of Tama Town for a full day before running into one of the few pirate crews around.
What luck.
Onboard the Ka Sha's pirate ship, Camon caught sight of a ship approaching from the distance. His eyes widened in alarm.
"C–Captain…"
Camon shouted in panic, grabbing a knife and stumbling toward the shore. As he ran, he kept looking back nervously.
"Raaagh!"
A terrifying roar echoed from behind him.
Camon yelped and scrambled up the beach, tripping and crawling in fear.
Thud!
The small boat came to shore.
Qize and his Raptorex stepped off, strolling lazily onto the island.
"The creatures on this island…" he murmured as he set foot on land, noting how strange they were.
A pig with a lion's mane. A giraffe no bigger than a dog. A chubby tiger standing upright like a man.
"Treasure Island," he thought to himself.
Treasure Island — a place teeming with bizarre creatures. The genetics of its wildlife seemed all jumbled, completely unlike anything found elsewhere in the world.
"So this pirate crew must be…"
He already knew which group this was.
"But what does that have to do with me?" Jiang Qize shook his head.
He hadn't been reborn into this world just to go sightseeing. If he was going to avoid interfering with the future storyline out of fear of changing it, then he might as well retire to a village and grow old peacefully.
"Let's go. After them."
He leapt onto the Raptorex's back and spoke calmly.
"Raaagh!"
The dragon roared and began to charge forward, its massive legs thundering across the ground.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
…
"Captain! Captain!"
Camon was still running frantically through the dense forest, shouting as he went.
Several hundred meters ahead, atop a small hill, an ugly-looking pirate stopped in his tracks.
"Captain, I think Camon's calling you…" the pirate said to Ka Sha, who was walking in front.
"Hm?" Ka Sha frowned, turning his head.
"Captain~"
The faint call came again.
They all turned to look down the slope.
Camon was sprinting toward them in a panic, glancing over his shoulder as if something was chasing him.
"Captain…" Camon collapsed at their feet, gasping for breath.
"What's going on?"
Ka Sha's voice was low and filled with barely restrained anger, his eyes flashing with cold light.
"C–Captain, there's… there's a ship coming."
Camon panted heavily.
"The Navy?" Ka Sha's expression darkened.
"No, just a normal ship, but—"
"You're this scared of a normal ship?"
Thud!
Camon flew through the air and crashed heavily to the ground.
Ka Sha withdrew his foot slowly, his face twisted with fury and killing intent.
"Useless trash. What good are you if you're terrified by an ordinary ship? We're pirates! What do I even keep you around for?"
He snarled viciously.
Thud… Thud…
Suddenly, a faint rumble came from the distance.
Everyone turned toward the sound, their eyes widening in shock.
Ka Sha narrowed his eyes, his aura turning bloodthirsty and savage.
"It's just one brat. What's there to be afraid of? I'm a man worth six million!"
He roared, brandishing his large blade as he charged toward Jiang Qize.
"Don't mess up his face. Go."
Qize smiled faintly as he watched Ka Sha rush toward him. He patted the Raptorex's back and leapt lightly into the air, landing gracefully before a tree, arms folded.
The Raptorex's massive eyes gleamed with killing intent. Its claws shimmered coldly in the light, the muscles in its hind legs tensing.
Whirr!
In an instant, its huge body shot forward, leaving cracked earth and a wave of dust in its wake.
