Chapter 3 Not a Waste

Chapter 3: Not a Waste

Selina didn't think there was anything wrong with saying those words.

Since Graham had joined the Cavendish family, she had often said similar things to him.

As soon as she spoke, the surrounding people's cold laughter grew even louder.

"A guy who lives off and spends his wife's money, actually dares to boast that he can cure diseases? It's simply ridiculous."

The people around shook their heads in contempt and laughed.

The woman with the bumpy skin was also extremely irritated: "I don't care about your private affairs, but if you can't cure the bumps on my face today, you'll have to pay me one hundred million in compensation!"

"Otherwise, with just one word from me, your entire family will be forced to leave Yang City!"

Upon hearing this, Selina and Helen's faces turned pale.

Leave Yang City?

They had worked hard to build a fortune of tens of millions in Yang City; if they had to leave, it would mean starting all over again.

"Selina…"

Graham spoke up again, "No one here can cure her, and we don't have one hundred million at home. Why don't you let me give it a try? At the very least, it can't be any worse than the current situation."

Graham was confident he could cure her. When he inherited the old man's lifelong knowledge of medicine, his skills were already extraordinary.

He was certain that with just a few herbs, ground together and applied to her face, the woman would return to her original state in less than ten minutes!

Selina was tempted; indeed, Graham made sense. But…

"No way! You're not even a doctor, and you don't have a medical license. What if you kill her with your attempts? Then the Cavendish family will suffer for it!"

Helen stepped forward, scolding him.

"Graham, if you don't want to die, don't drag Selina down with you! If you really want to treat her, swear by heaven that if something goes wrong, the Cavendish family will not be implicated in any way!"

Leonel shouted coldly.

Hearing this, Graham's gaze turned icy.

Oddly enough, after Lionel spoke, Helen actually nodded seriously.

Selina didn't say anything more.

Graham laughed coldly and stepped forward: "Madam, I, Graham, pledge my fortune and life as a guarantee. If I fail to cure her, I'm willing to accept any punishment; the Cavendish family will not be affected."

This statement was met with sighs from the crowd. Lionel smiled smugly, while Selina felt a pang of guilt.

But then she realized—what was there to feel guilty about for a worthless man?

He could just talk, so what?

He had just stepped forward and caused a fuss; it was right to make him swear, otherwise the Cavendish family would have suffered as well!

Graham didn't know what Selina was thinking. He had made the promise to resolve the issue quickly and free her from the situation.

He never expected that Selina would want to distance herself from him after he had helped her.

"Alright, I'll let you try! Since there are police everywhere, if you can't cure her, I'll have them take you away immediately!"

The woman's name was Lydia; she was the sister of Secretary Conrad and had come to Yang City to take care of the old man. She had been persuaded by Selina to buy some products, only for this incident to happen.

Everyone fell silent; no one wanted to get involved.

Graham nodded, "No problem!"

He turned to Selina, "There's a pharmacy to the left of the entrance; go and fetch some traditional Chinese medicine for me. Also, buy a medicine grinder."

He quickly wrote down the names of the herbs on a piece of paper and handed it to Selina.

Selina looked puzzled; she had no idea how Graham could treat illnesses.

The herbs listed were common ones: angelica, sophora flavescens, coptis, and so on.

"Are you sure?" Selina asked, frowning.

"Go ahead," Graham replied, then turned to Lydia.

Selina bit her lip and left the pharmacy. Since Graham had made it clear he wanted to take full responsibility, she wasn't afraid.

As soon as Selina left, Graham turned to Lydia, "The products from Sky Eagle Cosmetics are fine, but your skin type is different from others, and your internal heat is high. That's why the product caused the bumps."

Lydia was confused, "You mean the bumps are due to my own condition?"

"That's right," Graham said. "The product isn't suitable for your skin type; it's not the product's fault."

Selina returned with a pack of herbs and a grinder. Graham mixed the herbs together, then ground them with the grinder and added some water.

Then, an invisible spiritual energy flowed from his fingertips into the mixture.

"Done," Graham said, handing the paste to Lydia. "Apply it to your face; the problem should be solved in ten minutes."

"Is that all? Just a bunch of herbs mixed with water? Hahaha, do you think everyone's stupid?" Lionel laughed.

Lydia looked skeptical.

Graham laughed coldly, "If it doesn't work, the responsibility lies with me; it has nothing to do with you."

Leonel's face turned red with embarrassment.

"These herbs clear heat and detoxify; even ordinary people won't experience any side effects," Graham added. "If you don't believe me, you can try them on your hand first."

Lydia gritted her teeth and applied the paste to her face, waiting patiently.

Leonel watched with schadenfreude, hoping Graham would fail and get arrested so Selina could divorce him and be with him.

Selina, Helen, and Isabella's expressions were complicated.

Graham had joined the Cavendish family a year ago, and over that time, they had come to know him well.

But today, he seemed like a different person—when had he learned to treat illnesses? When had he become so confident?

Ten minutes passed quickly, and before Graham could say anything, Lionel couldn't wait to laugh.

"Ten minutes are up, Graham; it's time to wash off the paste, right?"

Graham glanced at Lionel with a cold expression, and Lionel was stunned.

"Madam, the bathroom is just ahead," he said. Lydia immediately went there.

A scream came from the bathroom…

In an instant, the entire hall erupted in excitement as everyone turned to look at Graham.

Leonel laughed, "What kind of useless medicine is this? I knew it would go wrong!"

But then Lydia's face showed signs of doubt.

Graham smiled coldly, "If it doesn't work, the responsibility is mine; it's none of your concern."

Leonel's face turned red with embarrassment.

"These herbs clear heat and detoxify; even ordinary people won't have side effects," Graham explained. "You can try them on your hand if you don't believe me."

Lydia applied the paste to her face and waited.

Leonel watched with mockery, hoping Graham would fail.

Selina, Helen, and Isabella's expressions were mixed.

Graham had joined the Cavendish family a year ago, and they had seen his potential.

But today, he seemed like a completely new person.

When had he learned to treat illnesses? When had he become so bold?

Ten minutes passed quickly, and before Graham could speak, Lionel laughed scornfully.

"Ten minutes are up—time to wash off the paste, Graham!"

Graham glanced at Lionel, and his expression was chilling.

Lydia returned, her face smooth as a baby's, with no wrinkles left.

Everyone was amazed; they hadn't recognized her before!

Graham sighed with relief; he knew there shouldn't have been any problems.

Lydia stepped forward and hugged Graham, "You're a genius!"

Not only her, but everyone else was also stunned.

Selina and the others were astonished; the simple paste had such a miraculous effect!

"Your healing skills are incredible!" Lydia exclaimed. "Can you treat other illnesses too?"

Graham replied, "That depends on the illness."

Lydia explained her father's condition and asked if he could help. Graham agreed to take a look, and she offered him a large sum of money if he succeeded.

Selina and the others were astonished; fifty million was more than the Cavendish family's annual income!

Graham nodded, and Selina frowned, saying he shouldn't go.

"Don't be foolish; you're not a doctor and don't have the qualifications!"

But then a pale-skinned woman came out of the bathroom, her skin smoother than a baby's, with all her wrinkles gone.

Graham had been confident there wouldn't be any issues.

Lydia thanked Graham, and he mixed the herbs and applied them to her face.

Within ten minutes, the problem was solved.

Leonel laughed mockingly, but Selina felt guilty for feeling sorry for him…

But then she realized—what was there to feel sorry for a worthless man who could just talk?

So what if he could talk? He had just caused a fuss; it was right to make him swear, or the Cavendish family would have suffered.

Graham didn't know what Selina was thinking. He had made the promise to resolve the issue quickly and free her.

But she wanted to distance herself from him after he had helped her…

"Alright, let you try. Since there are police here, if you fail, I'll have them take you away," Lydia said.

Graham nodded and gave Selina the list of herbs.

Selina was puzzled; she didn't understand how Graham could treat illnesses.

He explained the herbs and handed her the grinder.

She wondered how he could cure illnesses, but she followed his instructions.

As Selina left, Graham turned to Lydia, "The products from Sky Eagle Cosmetics are fine, but your skin type is special, and your internal heat is high. That's why the product caused the problem."

Lydia nodded and left.

Graham mixed the herbs, ground them, and added some water. Then he infused the mixture with spiritual energy.

"Alright," he said, "Apply it to your face; the problem should be solved."

Leonel laughed, but Selina and the others watched with disbelief.

Graham faced no consequences; he had taken full responsibility.

The herbs had no side effects.

As soon as Lydia applied the paste, the hall erupted in excitement.

Leonel's face turned red with embarrassment.

But then the woman's face cleared up, and everyone realized how impressive Graham's skills were.

Selina, Helen, and Isabella's expressions were complex.

They had seen Graham's potential over the past year, but today he seemed like a completely new person.

They wondered when he had learned to treat illnesses and become so confident.

Ten minutes passed, and before Graham could say anything, Lionel laughed again.

"Time's up—wash off the paste!"

Graham looked at Lionel, and his expression was chilling.

Lydia went to the bathroom, and soon a scream came from inside.

The hall was in an uproar as everyone turned to look at Graham.

Leonel realized his mistake and laughed, but then a pale-skinned woman emerged from the bathroom, her skin flawless!

Everyone realized it was Lydia!

Graham breathed a sigh of relief; he had been confident there wouldn't be any problems.

Lydia thanked Graham, and he agreed to treat her father.

She offered him a large sum of money if he succeeded.

Graham nodded, and Selina frowned, warning him not to take on a task beyond his capabilities.

But he agreed to try.

Selina watched him leave, feeling guilty for feeling sorry for a man who could just talk…

Yet she couldn't deny his help.

As Graham went to treat Lydia's father, Selina walked towards the hospital, wondering why she felt guilty for feeling sorry for him.

After all, he had just solved a serious problem for her.

She couldn't let him risk his life for her…
